Xbox SUCKS
As noted before we'll have a number of tire manufactures and the tire’s will predict the performance. No here’s the trick question, how much of a difference will each tire manufactory have between them self’s. We’ll we notice a major or small difference.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for things like this. This level of detail won't be in the game. Just think of it as GT4 but with better graphics as that's what will be released.

Ill still pray its a whole evolution of feature details that we'll drop jaws over. Just crazy top secret stuff we wont see til release!

Oh yeaaaa

That's major BS, if you haven't noticed the tire detail in pro. First when you go of track you do get tire pick up. Once back on track it takes a feww turns or laps to get the feel back pending on car and track. As well if you go off line you do pick up CLAD (tire rubber) and it takes awhile to get the feel back from that as well. True or not?

I think that there will probably be different quality levels of tire but within each category each manufacturer will have the same quality. I don't see the companies as willing to be labelled inferior to another in-game. It'll probably be mostly cosmetic, if it's customizable.

Different companies, but tyre life and performance won't deviate between each manufacturer. Simply, it will be the same tyres with a different "sticker".

I disagree, I believe there will be a noticeable difference between tire manufactures. What though we'll just see.

I'm not sure we'll see branded tyres for non-licensed events or cars, like NASCAR or WRC. Goodyear, Pirelli, etc are likely in the game because of the license requirements.

It would be amazing to have a roster of tyre companies and compounds to choose from, rather than the S1/2/3 nonsense, but I can't see it happening.

I just hope tires will last a little longer than in GT4, even on the super hard tires it was ridiculous

Just by looking to either Tire Rack and Discount/America Tire there are too many variations that even GT7 would prove too much.

The standard tire issue is god enough for me.

We can only hope. It is looking like they have some juicy surprises like the WRC driver just confirmed. It probably means NASCAR will have the actual drivers too. Tire manufacturers instead of the old Ns/Ss/Rs could be another surprise.

That's major BS

I disagree
So, you ask a question and get all upset when people provide an answer that you disagree with or hope does not turn out true. In fact, you seem so confident that there will be a difference between manufacturers that I have to question why you made this thread in the first place. You must have discussed this with Kaz, no?

Besides, the real question should be, "If there is a difference, will most gamers be able to notice, and take advantage of that difference?" The majority answer, is no.

Yeah, super hard tires should last at minimum 120 kilometers, but in GT4 they wear out in a matter of 15 laps at fuji, ridiculous.

The super soft kits used to last 3 to 4 laps, c'mon, such sensible and soft tire doesn't really exist, the super soft tires should last 15 laps, not the super hard ones. ;)

Tire brands would be cool, like equipping cars with Pirelli PZero, or Bridgestone Potenza tires, would undoubtly make the car performance stats closer to the real models. I can't see a "Tire war" happening, simply because the tire performance varies from many conditions, and the game won't be able to simulate that properly, like the old Michelin F1 tires, which are less grippy than the Bridgestone tires for the first 5 or 6 laps, after that the tires are warm and the Michelins start to outperform the Bridgestones, things like this won't happen, not in GT5.

A more well-made tire simulation is what we will have, and that's enough for that, tire brands will be only a cosmetic detail IMO. ;)

Is there any confirmation different tyre manufacturers will appear?
First time i heard of it anyway, and if they indeed appear i wouldn't get my hopes up for any performance differences.
As much as i would like those differences i think it will be the same way the tuning firms were handled in GT4, same performance/same price by all firms except for the name, so like Dan_ ^ said probably just cosmetic or even just linguistic.

But how were you driving with the tires? Were you always on firm grip or having constant wheelspin and drifting left and right? I'm sure that affects the durability quite a lot.

Arrrggghhh I though it was a secret mode in gt. Anyway there are moveable tires on track? Think so from some vids posted. Gives me an idea for messing around with my mates either positioning tyres for slalom type fun or even football with em. No seriously i'm a serious racer who would never condone such actions.

Nailing apexes, stabbing throttle and fighting against AI faster cars. :sly: Yeah, you're quite right, but even if I drove in a careful pace, the tires wouldn't last more than two more laps. ;)

I get upset you must be wrong. I got an answer and I disagree with it and I find a point BS its life deal with it. Yes the question is will some of us be able to noticed, I think we’ll be able to. Now to the point that some people will take advantage as they do in GT5P with off the wall camber and toe setting no, it will be a new learning curve for some of you. I believe with all the research Kaz and his team are putting into GT 5, the final version of GT 5. Besides having damage changing the car handles tires along with sound set up. Will play a big and noticeable roll in the way we’ll get around the track. Agree or Disagree?

analog I remember seeing a video of Kaz speaking of different tire manufacturers how many no clue. If I'm right he says the different tires format will have a nice impact on GT 5. If I can find it I'll post the link.

They used to use super-sticky Q tires in Formula 1. They would only last a handful of laps.

But, on the other end of the scale, when the Corvette C6.R team switched over to Michelins, they lapped Le Mans 3 seconds a lap faster, and could double stint their tires with almost no drop off in performance. (one stint being roughly 45 mins)

👍
Some one besides myself has done the research. Learn people learn and understand.

Well you can believe all you want, but in reality, nobody is going to be that nit picky or really even care. It will be static tyres with perhaps a different brand on it. They're not going to program each specific tyre for each company.

Agreed, while this would probably be a waste of PD's time anyway, its the simple fact that I doubt Goodyear for instance, is going to be very happy or want their name used in the game if all of the Michelin tires are better, or vice versa...

IF we get different tire brands, I would be willing to bet that its a simple cosmetic switch to a different name on the sidewall, no specific tread patterns, or even tire models...just simply different names on the sidewalls of the tires...

I wouldn't even be surprised if it was handled in a similar fashion to what Forza 3 does where different cars just have different tire manufacturers. For example, when i buy new tires for my Dodge Viper i have a choice of various stages of Michelin tires...

They made the tyres wear out over short distances because they know that the vast majority of people only ever race a handful of laps at a time. Longer races should have seen the MTBF increase proportionally, up to a point.

The problem is Zuel, that most gamers are only skilled enough to be able to tell the difference between the different tyre compounds that we have already in the game. Splitting that further into different compounds and tyre construction by different manufacturers, and you introduce yet more detail that is wasted on people. Sure, some people will tweak it and know what they are doing, but an even smaller proportion of those will be able to turn that knowledge into consistently reduced track times.

At the end of the day, Kaz speaks about a lot of things, and I no longer believe anything that spews forth from his mouth. Chasing that last bit of detail is what is turning the game into a development joke, and it's sad to think that most of that effort will ultimately be wasted on people.

*You might be right and even wrong.*

We’ve asked Kaz andPD for more realism from crashes, body damage, weather and so on. And we got what we asked for. Do you think Kaz and his crew are going to be that lazy to add other details? I think yawl are the lazy ones, also not having any faith in Kaz and the crew. Put up GT and play Mario Cart.

*Note*
Never Mind just a waste of time.

This. +1

It would be a nice touch, but then everyone would end up with Michelins anyways. :dopey:

Yeah, especially weather... really looks great, from what I've seen.

If it's only cosmetic or the different tyre companies all offer the same performance ( like GT4's tuning shop ) why even bother ( although it might be nice to some who just prefer a certain brand ).
IRL there is ofcourse a large difference between tyres, even those from the same manufacturer, let alone different brands.

Kaz mentioned in an interview putting all the data from different cars into the same engine and if a car handled like crap IRL it would therefor handle like crap in GT.
The same could be done with tyre data, just putting objective data into a tyre physics engine and just see what happens.

If would then be possible to really create noticeable ( maybe indeed for a minority of gamers ) differences and really offer another dimension to the game.
But those tyre manufacturers would probably not agree with this kind of honesty and just want to promote a brand name.

Forza 2 actually has slightly different parameters for handling and endurance for all the tire makes, and it has most of the high performance companies by name. So never say never. ;)

Well, that sort of disproves my theory that tyre manufactures might not wish this sort of realism thankfully.
Hope you're right and it will be more than just a cosmetic/promo addition.

I agree, most of the time I am buying only one make because it has best specs for handling and durability.. so what is the point of others? I think PD should stick with PD named tired.. Just give more Options.
