Tire Wear and Brake Indicators

Does tire wear affect the brake indicator (flashing red number)?

The flashing red number is the suggested gear indicator.

Yes but when the tires are worn more the light will flash earlier, or it may ask you to change into an even lower gear than usual.

When the number starts to flash thats when you start BRAKING!
or when the GT3 evil light of doom wants you to anyway. I ignore it.

If I do a 5 lap race with tyre wear on laguna seca, the first time I go through the corkscrew the recommended gear will be 2nd. When my tyres are in the red, it will say 1st gear instead, so it does make a difference.

Negative! That little red light does indicate the suggested gear for the next turn, true. But as said above, when it flashes, that is the suggested brake point.

It's usually a pretty good indicator, though with practice you will learn when to ignore the suggestions and when to follow them.

i didn't know what that thing was until about a week of ignoring it after buying the game. i ignore it to this day.
it does come in handy with the Vitz races, though; but only becase the Vitz AI cheats.
