Tire wear in practise is broke apparently.

In practise with 3 sets of primes every time you come back to the pit wear will be added to sets you haven't used.

Ie.
Go out on set 1 prime come back in and go out on same set. Prime 2 will get wear.

Come back in and go out again and set 3 will have wear. All with not changing your tires at all.

Xbox and PS3 apparently.

Read from CM forum.
Could anyone here check this?

I drove a practice session in carreer on PS3, and I can confirm this. Although I only did P1 so I only had 2 sets of primes to put wear on. However this will be a major issue in P3 when it will put wear on the tires that you are saving for qualifying and race.

Hmm Has anyone continued from an old save? Could that be the issue.

Scratching my head for work around and the only option is run Qualy, practise without Tire wear and put on tire wear for race? Dunno.

Don't shoot messenger.

Twitted Steve Hood about it. So at least he should be aware.

Just tried it in Malaysia and it doesn't happen with options so far. Giving it a go on primes now.

Edit: can't confirm on primes either.

Unconfirmed but someone has said this only happens when driving out not when selected flying lap? Maybe other way round?

Who knows. Maybe on certain tracks? Unable to test myself unfortunately.

I've been doing flying laps, so if it happens then probably once you're driving out manually.

Official forum suggests that this doesn't occur when selecting a 'flying lap'.

Some suggest that even though this solves the problem in P1, when moving on to P2, the wear from P1 will be applied to the new tires in P2.

Can you test that then to confirm or deny?

Is it possible to select the second set when in the garage and then reselect the first set? Might that provide a work around.

So many variables.

Only fix I can think of is run without tire wear on during practise and Qualy.

Still in race conditions when leaving the pits your gonna be wondering if your wearing out your next set of tires.

This is a major game breaker.
Hats off to those testing right now and hopefully find a work around.

I tested it and I can confirm it. I started a long race weekend in GP mode at Monte Carlo, drove out of the pits on primes in P1, ran 2 laps and pitted. Tire set 1 was 94 %, set 2 was still 100 %. So I skipped ahead to P2. Now set 2 was 94 %, the same as set 1 (which is unavailable in P2).

Cool thanks. What about if you only select flying lap when leaving the pits? Does the wear still transfer to an unused set when you move onto the next session?

Seems as if only selecting flying lap when leaving the pits means this bug does not occur. So whilst not great it does change this from a game breaker to only very annoying.

Apparently flying lap workaround carrys wear over to next session.

Can't flying lap in online league either.

Yep, I just tried the exact same procedure as before except of choosing flying lap and then driving in, instead of driving out and driving in. Tire wear still transfers to P2.

Christ yes! Only workaround I can think of is to do all your practice before the night and only run quali and the race to minimise the effect then.

Ah right, it wasn't obvious from your post. Hope it's an easy and quick fix then.

It wasn't obvious because I had not tested it then. I tested it after you mentioned it :)

Yeah I really hope they fix this. This has really made the game worse for me, I only do 20 % races so I was not affected by the 4-pitstop bug, but this really affects me as I drive a lot of practice laps, and tend to crash every now and then which forces me to pit in practice.

Flying lap screws up R&D too.

Someone reporting on the official forums has said that this issue does not affect a custom online GP.

Are you Fatboyslim over there?

Has anyone tried swapping compounds each stop?

My head is pickled trying to work it all out lol.

Hope this is right, I've given up on the piss easy career mode anyway.

People are also reporting a big improvement in the AI, so career might be worth a crack again, if they can sort this problem of course.

Close, Slim Boy Fat :)

Mine also. That's why my first post in the thread over there was to try and get a few people to work together to test it all and report back. At the moment lots of people posting conflicting info so it's difficult to keep track of what does and doesn't work. Seems like online is ok though so your league should benefit from the improvements and not suffer from this.

AI speed has been improved, so yeah, give it a shot.

Slim, someone suggested that the last set of tires fitted, pastes the wear onto the next session.

Is it possible to fit a 100% tires before leaving the session, maybe that might offer a work around.

Just throwing stuff out there.

Oh if you have enough left obviously.

Rain / intermediate tyres are always left if it's a dry race. Options / primes if it's a wet race. ;)

I think you have to actually have done a run on them. So just changing to a new set will not be sufficient. Edit: Cheba has said that this works, so as long as you change to the second set before advancing to P2, they should be 100% in P2.

This really does need a few people to get together and carry out lots of methodical testing to work out exactly what is happening. That, however, is almost impossible to organise over at the official forums. Hopefully by the time I get back home tonight I'll have enough info to fully test it myself and work out what is going on and the best way round it.

Seems like this may work.
I can live quite happily with a known bug that's fixable.

AI failures sound promising.
When in the lower teams I could never finish 18th as asked of me.
Always smoked teams around me but could never get up with the mid placed teams. Praying for a AI DNF was my only hope lol.

Seems like I have come to a conclusion:

When skipping from P1 to P2, the wear of set #2 in P2 will be the the same as the wear on the set fitted to the car when skipping

This means that if you switch to set #2 before skipping, it will be correct. If you skip while still on set #1, the wear will transfer to set #2.
