Tired of giving the AI cars a head start so that you can enjoy a challenging race?

It is my view that for gt4 to provide a challenge for all players, the game system must be able to be tailored by the individual. Hence once you have completed the game, or a certain percentage of the game, the player should be given the option to choose and modify AI opponent cars. If you find that you are winning too easily, simply up the mechanical spec of the AI opponents. You could also choose AI opponents from cars that you have created in your garage. It would be interesting to watch your creations slog it out together. This option would also allow us to create our own quasi tournaments such as a race with the entire selection of Mitsubishi lancer EVOs.

Another thought is to provide us with the option of fitting adjustable air restrictors to reduce the horsepower of our cars. Say that you love your RUF 3400s and want to race it in the polyphony digital cup, you could decrease the horsepower to provide yourself with a challenging race. Further, if horsepower restrictions re-emerge in GT4, you could also modify your car with things such as port grinding and balancing without worrying about it being excluded from lower horsepower races. The option of ballast could similarly return your car weight close to original spec.

My final thought is that once you have completed 100 percent of the game, it is arguable that the player should be able to enter any car into any race in order to add variety to the tournaments. eg: race a turbo modified car in the NA championship, or race an Esso Supra in the Toyota Pod race. Thanks MK

Not long now…

Warm Regards,

The normal development time of any videogame is about 2 to 3 years. I don't see what the big fuss is about.

👍 Glad to see I'm not the only one with this wish. You expressed it better than I could have done.

I'm writing down the times of my laps and this way I find cars that would match for a close race. A pitty that it's not possible to have them in one race together. It would be a challenge to take the slowest of a group of 6 and race against the five quicker cars.

If it were possible to pick the AI from your garage, that would add months of fun to the game for me!

This would add to the realism as the same rule is used in r/l racing.

It could help to make a car like the PANOZ competitive, as the version in GT3 was the FIA GT version, while other GT1 cars were featured in the game in a version under different weight rules, what made that the Panoz could not compete with the Viper and Corvette C5R.

Here is a idea I had some time ago. Create your own races.

Lets say you want to have a race with a Subaru Impreza, Nissan Skyline and Mitsubishi Evo in it. You start of with any car of choice, In this case the Subaru and do the desired number of laps, and you save that race data. Then you take the next car, let's say the Evo, and you race against your previos attempt (Like a ghost replay, but the car is real) with the Impreza and save that race data. And then, you can have a proper race in the Skyline against the Impreza and Evo with the race data of those cars that you did laps in previosly.

Because you are racing against yourself, there needn't be unnecessary contact (or any contact at all) and, should you choose your cars right, it will be fairly challenging.

Yes, the scope to provide yourself with competition at your own level would be almost limitless. There are many cars in GT3 that are underrepresented in the championships and I fear that GT4 will suffer from the same problem. I spend a great deal of time in GT3 and Concept quitting out of races until there is an interesting line up of cars to challenge. Let’s hope that Kazunori has seen fit to put the creativity into gamers hands….It would certainly make the waiting period for the next instalment far more tolerable.

This would be a great challenge, and achievable imo. The only thing we need is the possibility to load up to 5 ghosts. Which should take less processor power then 5 AI cars.

Good point of ghost opponents is that they go as fast in the corners as yourself!

On a long track like the Nürburgring, the chance that you see the ghost car all the time is very small imo. With more then one ghost you'd meet other ghost cars on different places of the track, depending where the strength lies of each car.

Like e.g. racing with a hot FF hatchback against a muscle car and a Lotus Europa. The muscle car will take advance on the straight before Flugplatz, will loose time after that and make a strong come-back at the long final straight line. The Europa will probably do the opposite, running away in the curved sections.
A race against 2 muscle cars, 2 mid engined smaller cars and another hot FF ghost would not be boring imo :)

I know man - i rarely bother thinking about the ai cars when i'm racing as they are so rubbish - what i do now is practice my technique but following them as close as possible, practicing getting tows, late braking into corners...also i try to aim for decent replays when racing the ai...

percentage slide bar for customisable ai?

Ability to choose the number of your ai opponents? so if you wanted only to race against 2 other ai's you could?

100 percenters should be able to race anything anywhere! I agree...
