Oil changes and engine rebuilds are real-world inconveniences that (IMO) should not be in the game. It was amusing the first time. But after the third time, it is a royal pain.

Well, now with "Borrow" option, cars don't accrue miles. So, no more oil changes or engine rebuilds. The only hassle is in "borrowing" a car, which involves going to a different screen and watching the "database updating" bar rock back and forth. But, it is a small price to pay to avoid the inevitable 500k repair (or 1 mil if you do chassis refresh as well)

Sorry, but what was the point of this thread?
Seriously.

That if you wanna drive a car and don't want to wear it down and cause the oil lamp to lid or that the car needs to have a frame or engine rebuild simply borrow a friends car and the friend borrows your car.

With this and all the 0 mile 0 changes trading crap I do wonder if people actually want to drive their cars in this game.

Engine refresh and chassis refresh aren't needed until you've done tens of thousands of miles on a car.

Oh!
I didn't understand it at first.
Thanks :)

Well... I don´t know if that the case in the game. I have a 908 with 1K kilometers, and that thing is starting to act up strange on turns. It feels kind of unstable, and it is understeerinig alot, and I´ve never touched anything on the suspension, or modify it at all. When I got it new, that car went like on rails. The sad part, is that it will take me like 3million to fix it completly...

Unfortunately, with the new trade restriction, you have to either grind yourself or have Bob grind for you if you'd like to buy the fancy race cars (1-5m in UCD). So, I have my Bob grind the dream car championship for cash using an X1 borrowed from another account while I watch TV. No worries about the car wearing out from all that grinding.

Does it mean I don't play GT5? Absolutely not. I'm going through A-spec again and trying new, evenly matched cars. But, the reality is that most of them pay only a pittance and is not enough the accumulate millions. Currently stuck at lvl 31 and not being able to get to 32 to unlock the 4hr Nurburgring. Hopefully, new seasonals will give me a push.

Engine rebuild after 1.000 kilometers,

That's ridiculous. Especially for that price
But it IS a race car, not your typical family sedan.

More power=less durability...look at top fuel dragsters, having to rebuild their 5,000-10,000HP engine after every run. In real life, I'm sure the prototype teams rebuild their engine after each race to have optimum power for the next one. (correct me if I'm wrong)

That could be an interesting research topic. I wonder how long an average engine in a race car lasts?

Something tells me 1000 km is about right..

I will admit to not being the best driver and have the occasional wall contact. I had to do a chassis rebuild on a Veyron after less than 1400 miles. To be able to borrow a nicely broken in Veyron that I can use without fear of further deterioration is desirable.

Same with a Red Bull X2010. After I believe it is supposedly about 6,700 miles engine rebuilds will not produce full power. A friend sent me (unannounced) an 8000 mile Red Bull liveried car which I rebuilt (HP is close to the maximum). This is now on a sub account so that Bob can borrow it for the endless Indy 500's (when I can be bothered) to level up. I have that Red Bull X2010, an F1 Ferrari, an FGT, a Nissan R89C, a Citroen C4 WRC and a NASCAR Camry. I can now use them with no fear of expensive repairs. Where applicable they all have full upgrades (which can be removed from borrowed cars or adjusted with the Power Limiter) which give me everything I need for cheap racing.

Great information OP! I never thought of this, I was pretty worried about what I was going to do after the limit comes into effect again. I only have six X1's left, and auto-A-Speccing is hard on them. Once these last ones went on the gigantic X1 scrap-heap I've accumulated (only 1475HP after oil change and engine rebuild? Throw it on the heap and fire up a new one!), I was going to have to BUY them:scared::scared:.

And by the way, I am the TRUE Sam I Am.

I don't think the name X2010 will ever really settle in.

I'm sure it will eventually, it's just that some of us are stubborn. Think about when they rename a street in your town, for a long time you still find yourself calling it by it's old, "real" name. Human nature, I guess.

Like the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Used to be called the Skydome. Some people still call is Skydome.

um, i beg to differ... maybe in real life but in the life of GT5 try tens of hundreds of miles or kilometers.

Just because it allows you to do it, doesn't mean it's nescessary. My S. Vettel X2010 has 1,500+ miles on it. I've been keeping track of its HP ever since I owned it and the highest it's been is 1556 HP. When it goes down into the 1400s I do an oil change and it goes back up to 1556.

It will be a long time until engine rebuild and chassis overhaul is truly necessary.

Also like the Sears Tower here in Chicago. Its now the Willis Tower. Screw that, been calling Sears Tower for 30 years, I'll call it that for 30 more.

It took 3,000 miles on my NASCAR before it needed a rebuild.

Take care of your engine and it takes care of you. If you don't change your oil as your oil light comes on, or shortly after, it's engine wear and you'll have to replace it sooner. Your engine can run much more than 1,000 miles before being replaced, even if it's a race engine. lol

I always change my oil after every race series or two so i'm good.👍

Thats probably true. That why I got 3k miles on mine before a rebuild was needed. And that was when it dropped from 892 to 890. 2hp in NASCAR can make or break you sometimes, so I rebuilt after that.
