IS it me or is this forum gettting invaded by talk of tires when drifting isnt all about tires, It is skiill and setups all these noobs are getting the idea that sims or super softs or whatever is what makes them drift better ,that may be true for some of drifting but they dont know about technique or setups thus making this forum seem nooby...People people: we've got to stop this all i ever see is the same old question about tires if theses noobs(i use this term lighty) would read the top post the and use the search button i think this forum would be more proffesional....

it's true. drifting has nothing to do with the setup...

which means a stock car is perfectly good for drift(and it is)

Ahhh.....the big tire debate......and the big stock vs. tuned debate right here in this thread!!!! Why don't we take BOTH debates right here without the use for any new threads!!!!!!:odd:

The thing that makes us all unique is our differences in opinion. Without that, and n00bs starting threads of old or current debates w/o reading the FAQ stickies.....or even the different aspects of the current debates broken down into various threads......the world, and more importantly GTP  would be very dull.......oh the humanity:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The tire debate keeps coming back, as do all the other topics (rice, drift vs. grip, low hp vs. high hp, etc...). This is just the way of things. As long as there are new people coming to GTP, there will be old threads brought back from the dead. Furthermore, I enjoy, some of the debates (drift vs. grip, tires, etc...). This is what these forums are all about IMHO.;)

I could care less now. I use low power cars with realistic setups on simulation tires. If you wanna use 800hp cars with super stickyrace tires thinking that's realistic then so be it. It's your loss, not mine.

i think that whatever you use if you have fun use it if your not having fun don't and don't care if people are saying "your a noob who can't drift with a stock car" if you can have fun then have fun.

I just like to keep things down to earth, and realistic. I like comparing my real world experiences to that of GT3 etc. Though i'm sure an 800hp car on sticky tyres would also be great fun :p

I don't make any change to the set up of my cars, maybe make the gear rations a bit longer but not by much. Its personal opinion about tires but i reckon 450bhp is about as far as you'd wanna go with sims, anything above that i'd use sports..

Agreed. ;)

id prolly use sports for that, maybe even racing tires..

Who said a 800hp car with with super stickyrace tires is realistic??

Okay, here's a rule of thumb 👍:

Try the car stock with simulation tires. If you can't drift with that car or you're not satisfied with the speed of the drift, tune the car up to satisfy your needs.

Usually, it depends on what the drifter is looking for. If they are looking for more down-to-earth drifting, then they should consider drifting cars stock with simulation tires or sports (depending on the drifter). If they are looking for insane 165º drifts, then they should go with mediums or super soft tires. Then they have to tune the car accordingly.

¿Comprendes?
(Do you understand?)

IMO i think that slicks is for fast drifts and i think choosing tires is just persnal taste, like there are people saying that sims is for beginners and slicks are for experts, but this only taste

Sims for beginners? WTF?
"sigh", I'm just not going to waste my breath, this time. ;)

After drifting with GTC, having no Sim tires or HP upgrades, this is what I've discovered: If you want realistic...drift a stock car without sim tires....that simple. Use what ever tire setup besides sims, suspension and transmission tuning needed, but don't use sims. You will see that at first it isn't easy, but then you will learn the setups and I hope relize that to make nice drifts with stock cars without sims you will have to use a lot more technique.

If you approaching a right turn corner, you drive in the middle or on the right side of the straight approaching the corner to prepare yourself for an aggressive fient and brake technique to brake your traction. When the corner gets closer, start turning towards the outside of the corner(the left side) then wipe the rear as fast as you can with a turn back into the corner and slam the brakes quicly to brake traction and then hurry up and gas and power out the rest of the drifts. <-- This I barely ever have to do with SIMS and thats why I prefer non sim tires. This is my opinion, and I'm not saying sims suck or anything, trying this out is just something else you can do to improve your drift and understand more about drift technique.

i can use sims but it seems too easy and unrealistic to me... it's too easy to break traction with sims... if you want a challenge use a stock car with normal tires
