Interesting practice session at Zolder tonight and another indication that we are in the silly season.
The McCarthy Racing Team was on track with the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 car.
Could the contract with RUF be over.

Alright Gentlemen.
Tonight we race our GT3 machines around Zolder.
Some things to keep in mind.
The track is limited in passing areas so the traffic will be tight.
Tire strategy will play a huge role.
Some of you guys will try the 1 stop. Some the 2 stop, and a few of you will test the limits and go without stopping.
Patience will also be tested.

I'll open the room a little earlier for those who may want some practice.

1:33.34 is the record set by the McLarens.

I'll pop in and practice for a bit tonight, but won't be able to stick around for the race. :grumpy: Damn those McLarens!

Also did everyone hear about what happened in v8SC practice yesterday, One of the drivers was standing in pit lane and a navy helicopter was flying above and the wind knocked one of the pit booms over and the metal signs hit one of the drivers in the ribs = two broken ribs and some damage to his lung

Thi
I'm a dummy. I thought we postponed the race tonight. Oh well, I'll be on later.
think tjger should make a post saying "EVENT TONIGHT" or something like that, i dont know when we are racing half the time i just show up and wham racecars

^^^ If we would have postponed it.
The remaining races would have gotten backed up against each other.

^^^ The best answer is..check into the thread as often as possible and PM me if you have questions.

So great race.
1st Samsung Bentley
2nd Grim Mercedes SLS
3rd Patrick Aston Martin on a 3 stop
👍
4th almost third until the last lap tjger RUF RUF

The race was roughly less than an hour. PERFECT from our NON Pinches Gringo Race Organizer.

Now we prepare for Sonoma and the Formula B on Sept 4th.

If all goes according to plan on September 13th we kick off our official GT3 class endurance race at the Nurburgring GP.
Keep an eye on Page 1.

Tonight was awesome, managed to get a 1:32:432 in qual. I started p1 on medium tyres and 33.8 laps worth or fuel, had Patrick on my tail untill he had a dive at turn 1 and ended up building sandcastles. Pitted at the end of lap 10, a few L of fuel and a fresh set of mediums, pushed hard with about a 5-7 second lead untill i ran hot into the first chicane on lap 19 and jumped the kerb which resulted in a 10s penalty. I then decided that the chances of 1st were mostly gone so i went into the pits and the end of lap 19, no fuel and a set of hards. As i exited the pits i was in 4th behind tjger, then as i finished lap 20 i saw a slow car which turned out to be mcinnis running out of fuel. So there i sat in 2nd or so i thought, i looked down and noticed i was 6 seconds ahead or p2, so i pushed on, sliding all over the spot and managed to controll the nervs. And finished the race with about a 4 second lead, props to grim for not making many mistakes and putting a crap ton of pressure on me.

For me, just a touch too much fuel.
Still awesome because everyone had a different idea of how to tackle the race.
Tires, fuel, and position on the track made the race interesting with anything is possible.

3rd. Hmmm, only if I can stay ahead of Patrick. Only if....

Oh yeah, the class is so closely matched.

Any one of the GT3 cars can be fast in the right hands. ;)

Oh yeah, its time for Carball. aka RL.

Gah! I thought I could go around another lap before a pit as my tires could hang on....

But halfway through the previous lap I totally forgot about the gas light flashing at me. What a freaking n00b. :banghead:

Tjger is right, we are all still getting used to the game and its mechanics, and this is helping us get upto speed and find our own rhythms. I mean its only been out 3 months. If I make the same mistakes in 3 more I'm done. haha

I'm glad that I could at least be competitive in that race! Looking forward to more.

100% agreed.

Project Cars is a big step forward in the virtual world of sim racing. It's our stepping stone to future racing sims be it Assetto Corsa, Gran Turismo 7, iracing on the PC or any other racing games on the horizon.

These past three months has been a huge learning curve for all of us. There's more to be learned and with PCars we are closer to understanding the real world or racing.

Over the last three months we've tired various forms of racing.
Slow but extremely fun Ginettas
4WD Audi Quatros
LMP2 in the rain at Lemans
Old style Stock Cars
Formula Rookie, Gulf, B, and some Formula A
The GT3 class
BMW M3 GT
Driver's Night Out
Manufacturer's Mondays
and others......

Last nights race was another opportunity to practice and test out patch 3.0. I don't have a problem rerunning it again.
It's summer time and I understand that we all need to break away before the cold winter sets in.

So if you missed it. Don't worry. After the Labor Day race at Sonoma. You'll have two weeks to get ready for the GT3 series. 10 races in ten weeks. Page one already has the tentative schedule. We don't stop until Thanks giving.

Ok, enough finger talking.

^ Yeah, it would make a cool car to cruise around in.
Probably even better as subject for a photo shoot on the Golden Gate bridge.

💡 16 Mustangs poised on the bridge.

It would be cool....if it were the Golden Gate Bridge. It would still be an awesome shot even though it's just a made-up bridge, sorry to burst your bubble. :yuck::D

On a similar note, early last year my uncle was driving from SoCal up Highway 1 (what the CA Highway course is modeled after) and came upon a whole gaggle of new '15 Mustangs. Turns out Ford brought them out for the auto-press to cruise around in for the weekend. The guy he talked to said my uncle's GTI was a much better car.

That's ok, after my dismal RL performance last night.
I need it.

Wednesday night was bad, Thursday was great, Friday dismal.

Tjger i will be in the #88 Bentley if we can pick cars for the new gt3 series.

P.S. I still think a car rotation league would be killer.
P.S.S. We are playing with 5 lap races for upcoming gt3 series.(i finished last for first 2 in the bentley haha)

Then we will be doning some R.L. Later tonight!!

another thing about using the dualshock 4 for project cars. I met a guy last night who holds world lap records for Donnington, Nurburging Nordschleife, sakkito and a few others for the GT category and his steering was very smooth like mine (i use the ds4 really smoothly)so I asked what wheel he used and his responce was "I use the ds4" so there is proof that you can be fast with the controller. he even smashed me around Hockeheim but he couldn't beat my Bentley down Conrod straight at Bathurst.
