Its because it doesnt fit (or rather fit nicely) in my new, non standard case! I kinda knew this before but I was up for a challenge.. its just that its the PSU with all its dangers thats putting me off. Everything else I can fiddle with safely...

As far as I'm aware you can't buy the casing on their own, you could always just buy a Slimline PSU and rip everything out of it.

Or if your problem is the PSU unit not fitting into the case you could make it an external PSU I guess or just buy an external one.

Wow, thanks so much for the info and links! :) I didnt know you could get external powersupplies or that you could easily buy server shaped PSU's.. If you look at a normal PSU they waste a lot of space on top so just buying a new one thats thinner would save me alot of agro!

Now I have a bit of a problem with the TV Tuner. I managed to get the TV tuner to work, so I can view and record Digital HD TV, which I already have done...alot. Now, I am trying to connect my PS2 to the PC so I can play through this monitor, but when I do this the colours go all weird, and there is no sound. What setting can change this?

Maybe you don't have the right software/cables. :P Seriously, try using component (RBG Cable) instead of Composite (RWY Cable) and see what results you get. Also, maybe you didn't adjust the monitor and/or software PAL/NTSC output signal..... Either way, why do you want to play your PS2 on your monitor when you have a TV?

I'll go try that now.... I want to play PS2 on the PC because we are trying to get rid of the TV for good. Thanks, Muzzy ballz.... :lol:
 
Playing a PS2 through a PC is never a happy experince, even if you get all the colours right it never looks sharp and there is often a lot of lag.

I have a TV tuner that I tried to use PS2 on, it worked but it didnt look good at all. This is because the PS2 runs on old TV technology, unless your monitor is also a TV which you can plug in to directly it wont look that great.

Sync on Green (SoG) is the least common, and while some VGA monitors support it, most do not. Sony is a big proponent of SoG, and most of their monitors (and their PlayStation 2 video game console) use it. Like devices that use composite video or S-video, SoG devices require additional circuitry to remove the sync signal from the green line. A monitor that is not equipped to handle SoG will display an image with an extreme green tint, if any image at all, when given a SoG input.

From Wikipedia... This is exactly what is happening to me, I get the extreme green tint, which means i'll never be able to do this. Yeah, my monitor is fairly old, one of the early LCD's. Thanks for comments Robin 👍

So I'm looking for more RAM. Looking for around an extra 4gB for kicks of DDR2 since DDR3 (apparently) won't be compatible.

I've been looking at this product here. Any feedback on this one?

I've never heard of it either. But if you're not looking for out and out performance or OC'ing potential it's not going to make too much of a difference. I wouldn't go with Generic, but Kingston or something probably has a bit more support if it all goes balls up.

Agreed. I'd trust the Corsair Value RAM before I'd go with a brand I'd never heard of. And I have gone with Kingston Value RAM before and had no issues, so I'd imagine Corsair would be similar.

That said, you could grab the 667Mhz sticks for $79.20, or the 800Mhz for $81.40.

I got my 4GB of G.SKILL DDR2 800 (2x2) for 50 USD. Not sure if you guys have a big box retailer that carries that kind of stuff over there, but any one of those brands are quality providers.
 
Team group ram is extremely nice ram to use. I have some of their Extreem series in my system currently (2x1gb), and for only 667mhz DDR2, its held up nicely being overclocked to 900mhz ( 2.3v @ 5-6-6-15 ) putting my E8500 @ 4.27Ghz, with a 1:1 ratio. Also this ram (what I have) is D9GMH micron , so its made of some of the better ram chips, and they overclock & take voltage pretty nicely.
If I hadn't just ordered some g.skill 2x2gb 1066, I would have gone with that Team ram there.

However Team ram, from what I've found, is very hard to come across.
