does anyone know the reason why iPod or iRiver are called what they are... Like what the heck the 'I" in the names even mean?

Remember 1998? You know, that rectangular gray box was called a Sony PlayStation, Gran Turismo didn't have any sequels yet, and 99.99% of the world thought that getting connected to the information superhighway by a 24.4Kbs modem was fairly kick-ass.

Well, e-mail hadn't yet been invaded by spam by the thousands, so e-mail was going to be the transmission of choice to connect the wired masses. And since this was good, everything became "e"...eBay, for example was an e-lectronic listing of classified for the San Fransico "Bay" area.

The fad died out officially in mid-2000, when kids with servers realised they were sitting on overvalued pieces of paper that couldn't buy themselves a cup of coffee (mind you, Starbucks hadn't invaded every street corner yet).

Apple came out with the iMac. "i" for internet, "i" for ingenious, "i" for...well, "I"...putting the notion of personal attention to a box of glass, silicon, plastic, and wires in an asthetically-pleasing package. The "i" was attached to nearly everything Apple made...and thus that little pod you can hold in your hand became an iPod.

Although I like my iPod, I'm no fanboy. I got it for free. I'm glad there's competition. It makes for better products (as well as obsolescence, unfortunately).

I'm a PS2, and Counter-Strike fanboy, but i still play gamecube, and xbox, i own a gamecube and i'm gonna buy a xbox for the hell of it. My opinions are completly opinionated towards GT4 compared to FOrza, and Counter-Strike to well everything, but i still love all games that existed i just like some games more, thats why i like to sho the pros of my things, and not the cons.
