I am currently in the position to purchase a Fanatec GT3 wheel by flipping a new G27. Logitech refused to replace my DFGT and gave me a 50% discount on the purchse of a new wheel. So yea, I am selling the G27 at market price, giving me 50% profit. :sly: I have a set of G25 pedals that I originally bought for future plans of buying a fanatec wheel, hence I will not need a set of pedals from fanatec.

Now there's a kicker. I have a newborn and my playtime has decreased by well over 75%. I've done my research and I know all the reasons why I should buy a Fanatec. But, do I want to have it sit around and barely get 2 hours of use a week? I would like some input in this dilemma of pocket the profit or treat myself for smart thinking. Also, my DFGT is in working order, after finishing the X2010 challenge, the malfunctioning paddle shifter fixed itself 👍

Why not keep the G27, sell the DFGT as "slightly broken but working fine" for a fair price, and pocket that?

Then you get a MUCH better wheel/shifter/pedals, some cash in hand, and you don't have to fight Fanatec to fix your broken wheel, when/if it arrives broken.

It's not that long ago that I had a newborn myself so I know where you're at. There are 2 things to consider - if you buy the Fanatec will it cause you any financial hardship ? I know that having a kid brings a lot of expense so needless to say those expenses absolutely must come first. If that is not a problem however you should also keep in mind that your playtime will decrease by a very large amount, which in my experience makes it even more important to make the most of it. That will help keep you sane and make everyone in your house happier.

So....if the money is not a huge issue, go for it!! I'm about to pull the trigger on a Fanatec myself as it turns out - can't wait.

I'm not a fan of the G27's buttons not being supported. Also all the buttons are on the sihfter unit. I've tried one out and it's great wheel. But I feel the fanatec would be much more appropriate for me.

Wow that's very well put. And the poll is saying yes... I'll see if the bias changes by the end of day. Otherwise, I would like a nice wheel to make the best of my play time. 👍

I would just go with the fanatec gear. I bought a gt2 wheel, then tried a g27 and i was so happy i had gone with the fanatec stuff. Light years ahead of the competition. I had issue with my clubsport and i contacted their support staff in the format theywanted and received the sensor overnight.

Just ordered it. After a discussion with my wife and looking here, I'd simply like my play time to be that much better. Thanks for the input fellas.

With a newborn I'm shocked you even have that much time; the only thing I wanted when my daughter was born was sleep! :D
Unless you have an XBox I would keep the G27 (this coming from a Fanatec owner). What it comes down to is they're both great wheels, but the G27 will probably be faster to service if you have an issue, the Fanatec will cost you more $$$, and you'll have to wait a minimum of 2 months to even get the Fanatec.

Edit: I guess I didn't see your last post. Congrats, when it arrives I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Nice - congrats!! Mine is due to arrive Friday. Fanatec turned the order around really fast for me. UPS had it the day after I placed the order. I hope you're having similar luck. Enjoy !!

Not true any more. They did have some delays due to a sudden demand spike from the surprise release of GT5 but they are back on track now. I'll have my GT3 RS V2 + CSS in hand just 3 days after ordering.

Try to order a Gt2, or a set of basic pedals, or a set of shifters...lemme know if that comes in 3 days...

Buying a Fanatec is like buying a european car...they are excellent when they work.
