Luckly I was able to get one of only 5 copies delivered to EB here in WY. So far I have to say this is the best racing game on the xbox by car. I just had the open car races b/c we good bump and you go crashing into the wall or loose a tire. But overall a great game. :D

Better than Project Gotham 2? I have other cash commitments right now (tires for new wheels, fix door handel) BUt I may be able to sneak out $30 for this as long as nothing good for PS2 is coming out soon.

But how can it be better than a game that has virtually no info released or even a real release date?

Its a very close call to be honest, PGR2 is better in some ways ( eg the fantastic range of cars available ) and RD2 is better in others ( wide range eg vintage - DTM - V8's - Imports - indy cars - nascars - formula ford.. hell, even trucks! )

its the variety that keeps it interesting IMO!

but then again, I just got the game today.. so ofcourse im going to think its better - if it was the other way around and I got PGR2 today.. id be saying it was better.. lol

BOTH are great anyway, if you own an xbox and have any interest at all in motorsport ... grab it

im quite pissed off at this game right now...friggin DTM races is proving quite difficult. I really dont feel like ive played enough of this game to really come up w/ a good opinion yet, but i will say its probably the best simulation style racer on the xbox as of yet. tho it still doesnt really feel like a TRUE simulation like gt3 is, but the physics are quite nice in this game, a pretty good combination of simulation and arcade style, w/ it leaning more towards the simulation side. the sound effects are quite nice...engine sounds done quite eclipse those in PG2 but other ambiant sound effects in this game are quite nice...turbos spooling and whistling, BOV's sounds pretty good, tire squeelings all good. Graphics are pretty damn nice, all the tracks are pretty nice looking too. The sheer variety of motorsports this game encompases is amazing...BUT..it can also be quite frustrating. each race is different and in completely different cars that handle completly different. So once youre in one race and get used to one car, they toss you in another car and expect you get a podium finish. you need to be quick to adjust the aspects of every car. And also they just throw you into the tracks, theres no practice runs or anything like that to get you used to the track before you race it (in career mode. there is a free run mode you can toy around w/, but i dont think it has all the tracks unlocked at the beggining) It does have Live play that you can race w/ up to 12 people...or you can even race w/ just a couple people and make the rest computer players. you can set up whole race venues online w/ up to like 10 or 11 races if you want. Overall i'd say this is a pretty damn good game for 30 bucks, and if youre lacking a simulation style racer on your xbox, this is a game for you

You should remove the TOCA part cause the TOCA series(BTCC) aren't going to be in Race Driver 2.This is of course just speculation but look at the official site, all the classes are there and i don't see TOCA/BTCC anywhere.I am getting this game mostly for DTM but it's a shame they didn't include TOCA/BTCC,it was nice to drive those cars once in a while.

This doesn't come out on computer untill may 5 now! That really sucks, I was hoping to get it today! Hopefully I will have broadband by then , so maby I will see some GTP members out on the race track!:D

That sucks, no wonder I couldn't find it a fry's today... Painkiller was there though. $30 not bad I suppose?

edit: Just realized this isnt' the pc thread it's the xbox thread... that sucks... eh... need sleep...

I played it on the Xbox Demo Disc i got from XBOX Mag this month.
It is had to accelarate at the begining, and hard to steer.
But I love how tohe glass gores flying everywhere.

I posted this on the codemasters forum, but check out the airtime you get on Bathurst (not realistic) but still fun.

yeah those "rally" stages are a killer.....anytime you go over any kinda jump you just float way up in the air. youd think from the company that made colin mcrae 4 the rally mode would be a little better than it is...

What turned me off from buying the PC version was the raw power your PC needs. And my P4 1.7 Radeon 8500 is no good for this game. What turned me off from the Xbox version was the lack of tuning I read about and so far there is no any car any track mode. Can some one clear these up and i may get this game as its at Ebgames.

The PC and the X-Box version are identical. As far as any car on any track mode goes, that won't be in either versions. It was possible in RD 1 to make track mods so you could race on any track but now they have bulit in some sort of Anti-Cheat software to prevent cheating when playing Online. They say that this program checks all clients to see that they have identical files,so those that have tampered with their files will be automatically kicked.I don't know if this applies for Track Mods.Maybe you will be able to play with any car on any track offline,i'm not sure.

It not an online game. It's a game that features online play. I dont plan on playing online. This were PGR2 could not keep my attention. No any car any track with replays. I traded it in not too long ago for R-type Final for PS2. But that sux.

I just got this game today. I think overall the driving is really fantastic and all the cars look great.

The Only Problem is the Rallying part. The rallying in this game really Sucks. Very floaty, no physics of any kind. You cannot feel the pebbles, dirt of bumps on the road. They should have just left this part out of the game.

Of course this was comparing it to Colin McRae 4.

I heard XBOX doesn't have pro sim mode so there no0t excactly the same. :)

That is correct, no pro-sim mode for the Xbox. Good news for PC fans, Codemasters are already working on the first patch in which they plan to implement a rearview mirror and also allowing for a little more car and track variations. Cool!

I've had the Xbox version for a couple days now and it really is a great game. Physics model is much improved for RD1, no more twiching. Cars feel a lot more solid on the road with more grip. But some of the new series like rally and semi-truck racing aren't as good as I'd hoped. That's okay because there are a lot of other, great series in here. Crank up the sound too, it really adds to the enjoyment! A.I. is very well done, hangs a lot better in the corners. This game is also very difficult, starts out easy but then climbs rapidly. Excellent game for $30.

formula ford....updated v8supercars....ice racing....and the legendary surfers paradise track. so many great tracks added...road america, laguna seca and barbegello. its gonna be a great game

The trucks are hard to control, and especialy in the wet, but I love the DTM Audi's and BA Falcons, btw I rolled the skyline on bathurst after I got some air
