The AI isn't super-intelligent, though.. I was in one race yesterday.. just started out, heading down the second straightaway or wherever.. had pretty good speed going. All of a sudden, I see a yellow flash of a car sideways two or three places in front of me, then all hell broke loose as about ten or twelve cars ended up in a huge crash, all over the place.

The A.I is ace in racing. At everything else they are pretty dumb. You can hold the entire field up for ever if u want to.

Is anybody using the new Driving Force Pro on this game???????? How does it work??? (how would you rate it?.... out of /10)

thanks.

This game is great, its just like the Xbox version except its better using the clutch button. The DS2 works great for it. I dont have the Driving force pro but I hear the 900 degree mode works with it and that alone would make it better than the Xbox version plus the pro sim mode.

Is it online for PS2? I'll trade in my xbox version if it is!

My DFP is coming in a matter of weeks, I need something to break it in.

Yes it is, up to 8 players.

Yes it is, up to 8 players.

do they have tourneys and friends lists? I had an amazing V8 supercars league going with some people on my friends list on Xbox. I don't wanna get stuck racing 7 year old pricks.

Does the PS2 version have damage online and can you talk the entire time with the headset? Thats unfortunate it is only 8 online for the PS2 since the X-box is 12.

I dont have the PS2 version but you shouldn't worry about how many people can get one a server. It doesn't happen too often that more then 8 people are on one server. So it's no big deal. And i also think that there is damage online(the host can decide if it's on or off). The host can also decide whether to turn collissions on or off(when off all cars are ghosts). All of the above is from the PC version but i don't think it will be any different for the PS2 version.

bathurst is the meanest track in v8supercars 1 i havent tried 2 yet but i want to has any one done better than 1.44 on bathurust in a v8 supercar? thats a real unrealistic time by the way in real life an average lap for a v8supercar is 2.05

And that's the problem with this game. Most cars are going waaaaaaay to fast. For example the DTM cars can clock faster lap times on Hockenheimring then the Formula 1 cars in real life can.

Oh and btw.
1.40.552 is my record on Bathurst with the V8's.

IGN
Hit someone or something too hard and you're outta the race, be it from a broken axle, busted wheel or straight up engine or tranny failure. It's a fantastic touch that makes one appreciate racing seriously. This will, undeniably, force Xbox Live players to use a much more finesse and less brute force as they plow throw the twisty turns of ToCA.
So I guess IGN just copyed and pasted the Xbox´s Toca2 review to the PS2 section.....Lazy asses.

I find the game much easier to use the cluth in than the XBox version. Just assign it to R1, :). I'm too lazy to hook up my cable modem and I've been busy at night the last 4 days. This is also the fdirst game I've ever seen that refects other cars in the reflection map :). Not even GT3 does that.

tried it online and i must say this is the most fun ive had since PGR2, and I'm enjoying this one more, on PS2 for that. is prolly no different than the Xbox verison minus the live fee. It hja everything you want in an online racing game. Friends list, a racing lobby where others can join while the race is in progress. I pla a 7 player game whit guys from asutrailia(?) and they were using the head set. This game takes advantage of so many things. NA, DFP , keyboard supoort, Head set friends list. There was next to no lag playing with 4 guys from Australia and 3 from the US. If you loving racing and you do not have xbl but a PS2 get this game now. i know i will FRiday along with the head set so i can trash talk in a DTM race.

BUY THIS game for the online play alone. This is going to take up my Friday night :). Now I see the big deal with no online for GT4. but this game is hot. and it looks and plays nice too.

2 hours of online play. I rate it a 9/10.

xbox has a online fee? oh and when you nick the walls on v8supercars 2 does your window just pop out like the first one man thats annoying.

Your window will shatter if u hit the wall. It's basically the same as in the previous game, only this time you will have to hit the wall a bit harder to get that effect.

I still havent been able to pick this up (for the PS2) from any local rental stores. Sounds like the PS2 is making a huge improvement with their games online.
xbox has a online fee?
Yes X-box has an online fee. About $4 a month. I need to rent this so I can compare it to the X-box version. The only difference I see so far is x-box has 12 online and PS2 has 8online. Which is no big deal but 12 is really fun. 👍

I've played the Xbox version and there are a few visual differences. But for the most part it looks the same with no slow down. Bying this game after work and playing after I see Team america.

I'm having a dilemma, about whether to get this on PS2 or PC.
I play best on PS2, but I won't be online there, so PC will be the online choice.
Help, anyone?

I'm going to buy it for to get some practice time with my DFP.

I asked about trading in my xbox version and it has terrible value, so what the hell, I'll keep it for Live.

Ultrabeat, what are your PC specs? If you have above:
1.4GHz(AMD Athlon/Pentium III)
512Mb RAM
ATi Radeon 8xxx/GeForce 3

then you will be able to run this game with all options set to full and it looks better then on the PS2.But then again the PS2 has the analog controller wich really helps in games like these. If u have a wheel however(for PC) then you should get the PC version,or you could get a analog pad for the PC cause playing with a keyboard really sucks.

Dunno why
I got the game, everything is good
but after a while, I tried to plug in my driving force for the pro-sim mode
both lights on the wheel is on, but the game seems not recognize it
I went to Option > Driving
force and advance option are disable (grey out)
then I tried unplug the usb and replug it back (like TRD1 wheel problem)
it doesn't make any different 👎
does anyone know how to fix that?

anyway, pit stop screen is so lame

I bought the PS2 version on Friday (U.K release day :) ) and played it over the weekend. I am now 50% through the carreer mode but have loads to do in free race. I am liking having a game other than prologue to use DFP with.

One thing though, Mantorp has a 1/4 mile drag Strip and although there is no specific drag event i have took a couple of cars along it. one which stood out was the 250bhp Seat Leon Supercopa which did it in about 8 SECONDS!!! (simulation mode) I think that simulation mode is a little too arcadey but Pro Sim mode is way too difficult for me. I wan to know why i got an 8 second run from a 250bhp car, doesnt seem right (1000bhp Koenig did it in 9's) All runs were done with Manual gears no clutch as thats what i race with.

P.S GT4 should have (but probably wont :grumpy: ) the in car veiw that this game does. It's probably quite simple to pull off as no extra poly's are needed as there is no cockpit as such just a view behind the windscreen.

Does anyoe use the clutch and what is it like?, i can't imagine it being that good as i only have two pedals with DFP and using a button will offer no feel and will awkward to get to at times.
