Meet the new CL

Sunfire taillights, brilliant:

I'm hoping the AMG version will make things a bit better, along with zillions of gadgets and stupid amounts of power, but way to ruin what was my favorite modern Coupe from Mercedes, along with the first-gen CLK.

The greenhouse is too big (tall).

But given how handsome the old one was, they had no where to go but down. They should have just mimicked the S-class...

I was shocked by that front end! It looks quite finished as well. There isn't a nice part to the whole car.

Must be pedestrian friendly though.

How can they manage this after the beautiful CLS?!

They are going to lose all their sales to this: (which manages to be pedestrian friendly as well, BTW)....

Woah. The whole car looks so odd too me. The rear side window is too large, the rear lights are oddly shaped and the front end just looks too bulky for my liking. CLS and S Class are much more handsome.

I like it. It's not offensively ugly, but I agree it doesn't win beauty awards. Mind you, people buy a Mercedes to be inside it.

If you're going to feel offended by it passing the street, take it up with the driver, mmmkay?

Dare I say it... the new CL reminds me of a BMW on the sides. The front looks a little too 1990-ish for me. I actually think it doesn't look extremely bad. In fact, out of 100% approval, I'll give this a marginal number- 65%. Unlike the Pontiac Sunfire, this car looks 150,000 times better than the Sunfire, especially the 2002 model. The wheels on this thing is a bit drab. It isn't as bad as it COULD have been. This coming from a Mercedes-Benz fan.

Integra Type R
I'm guessing I'm the only one who likes it?

Tch. A real British person wouldn't have missed this...:lol:

It's not that bad. The headlights are a bit bubly and it's a bit too tall. But the back looks good, in a simple kind of way.

Oh my GOD.

It looks like a z4 got knocked up by the old infiniti M.

Good point.

This reminds me of the questionable restyling of the BMW 7 and not too long after, the BMW 5 and 3 series. They really arent my favorite BMWs, but I have to admit they did grow on me, despite my initial reaction of thinking they looked terrible and awful.

You have to be doing something right when you make your cars a little uglier and people keep on buying them.

Awww, its not THAT bad... Its not as outrageous as say, a BMW 6-series, but it will turn heads nonetheless. My only complaint is that the looks are just a tad too soft, but I would presume that would be fixed with an AMG bodykit.

The CL was one of my favorite mercs, big, strong, fast and super luxurious. The thing would move mountains. I know americans like to use their "muscle car" designation on their overpowered classics, but the CL65 was THE true muscle car.

This new one though... looks korean to me. That is the next Tiburon.

The front is Phucked. The back is Phucked and the sides are phucked. Whats has mercedes done. Im gonna go laugh at some MB fans that were bagging on my audi's now. :)

Ok guys these are fakes. Very bad photoshops. Check the fenders theyre non existant.

From the link:

Here are the latest photos of the next generation Mercedes CL-Class coupe. They are showing a prototype without any disguise, just a few strips of tape were removed by computer.

Check the other pictures too.

it doesn't look upscale at all ... like a piece of toys
CLS looks so much better

They 100% ruined it. Nothing looks good, it's too tall, the front is too squinty and the headlights are all wrong. The side looks 100% like a Toyota Solara--which is pretty gay. Like skip said, the only way was down after an already superiorly handsome car.

Ok, but nowhere as great as the last....

Any why does the back in the front pic resemble something of the Solara?

Hell, that 1st pic reminds me of a Toyota.

Merc took a CLS, got rid of the back doors, and added a large dose of bland. Its not ugly, but it looks very, very boring.

The thing that is really bothering me is that the front window & mirror area ends down below the base of the A-Pillar.

It's not drop-dead gorgeous like its predecessor, but it's still waaaaaay better than the S Class!

what happened??! Mercedes styling has been magnificent recently and now they come out with this? what are they thinking? it looks common.

Gah! Looks like a bloated Toyota Solara! They bastardized the new CL!!! Damn you apes! Damn you all to hell! You blew it up!

My girls dad has a current CL500. It is a beautiful car.

This though......

:yuck:

Well that really does look **** the previous CL Class was gorgeous but this one is really not doing anything for me, why have this when you can have a CLS or 6 Series?

These pics are not real. The new CL headlights will be more aggressive than that and will fit into the lines of the car like the new 221 S-Class. MB tail lights do not look like the ones in the pics. The hood will have a more aggressive stance also. I do think the body lines on the side are pretty close.

MB are styling their cars to have a more aggressive stance with line going up from front to back to make it look like it is poised to pounce....see the new GL. It has the same styling queues....

The first 2 pics are not authentic.....
