Tokyo highway system

wouldnt it be great if they put the whole C1 + wangan highways from Tokyo Xtreme racer into GT4?

but i dont think this road would ever make it into GT series.... in real life, this road is very tight with no room for error, not to mention stretches can allow a high tuned car to reach 300km/h. (yes they do this in real life, not just the game) but i find the C1 loop very similar to Nurburgring. the TXR series is still too fake to have a taste of the real C1.

C1 like Nürburgring? I find that unlikely.. a highway isn't going to have the kinds of twists and bends that the 'Ring has. The 'Ring was designed to push cars to their limits, as a testing ground in addition to being a race track. Highways simply aren't built that way.

I haven't driven C1 at all, that I know of, unless it was in the original TXR on Dreamcast. I was simply pointing out that no highway system in the world is comparable to a race track that was specially designed to test cars.

Got a map? That way we can judge. And I seriously doubt C1 id harder than the 'Ring. Even if it was, there's already Tokyo R246 for us to Fang around.

R246 is a closed circuit for JGTC event

C1 loops is around 22KM and there is clockwise and counterclock wise (since this is public road)

faster cars 600-800+ HP cars usually race on the clockwise (outer loop) while slower cars usually race the inner loop.

what make this highway hard is that is designed with a speed limit of 60KM/h, the bridge gap bumps and no room for error makes this highway really hard to race. especially driving around this place at over 240KM/h average speed.

with the graphics + GT game physics, it would just make it even more challenging.

Funny about this is that we already have Tokyo in a GT game as in Tokyo R246. And with all due respect to the city I hope to one day visit, Tokyo's highways don't really seem challenging enough to take on Nurburgring Nordschleife. Drag racers may like nothing but endless, slightly curved road of the good old Wangan B. The Kanjyo C1 is what I used to take on much faster opponents. If I couldn't knock off a fast opponent such as Speed King (Emperor in TXR3, and not as exciting as the last game), The Lord (TXR3), or even that dude who races a Gemballa in TXR3, I try to get them into road racing to take them on. Then, some of the road ways would be pretty dangerous, especially the two walls splitting areas around the Ginza district. Kandabashi to Kasumigaseki to maybe even Shiba Park would be a nice oval challenge, but I don't know much else for Tokyo highways to make for a nice race course. Heck, if PD wanted to make a one-on-one race on the streets, that would be a better alternative. There would have to be a legitimate track to use either with the Kanjyo C1 or something with Yokohane K1 and Daiba 11.

Other than that, I don't think it would pack the fun the Tokyo Xtreme Racer had.

Yes, but that doesn't answer the question: do you have a map so we can compare C1 and the 'Ring?

I read posts with an open mind. "C1 is better than the 'ring." I don't believe that, but I will if you are credible enough and have proof.

But when you then go and say this,

You just lost any credibilty you may have had. Do you have any pictures or race reports from this JGTC event round R246?

i think the fun part of 'tokyo highway battle' is that you can enter different route, but that's what 'street racing' all about, you dont have a specific course.

for GT series, i think they want to concentrate on driving simulate rather than 'street racing', as you can see you dont have a lot of 'body modification' or other fancy stuff on GT compare to Tokyo Highway or NFSU

I think I have to question that one, too... I've always been under the impression that TR246 was a fantasy track.. that it exists only in the imagination of the designers at Polyphony Digital.

It's based on a real location.. real streets, buildings, etc.. but I don't think those roads have ever been closed off to make a race track. It's just as "real" as Seattle and New York. And probably the rest of the city-based courses, too.

I think GT is too professionally oriented to have you driving on open freeways, but to have the freeway (free of public traffic) to wangan about on would be a welcome addition.

Plus, there ar NO JGTC races held on street circuits. I think you'll find they're at Suzuka, Fuji, Sugo, Aida, Sepang, Autopolis, Tokachi and the like. No street tracks. So as daan said, Hyde, you've lost credibility for posting that.
