Too much good games around, not enough time...

Being curious here, I own both a PS3 and a 360 so there are an incredible amount of games out now that you can easily spend 30-40 hours on before you finish them. But unlike the days of me being a teen with hours to spare, mister dog is a family man now, so there just isn't time...

My solution is to wait till the weekends, until the misses and my 1 year old daughter go to bed and then i play a bit during the night, but the problem with that is that I'm just too tired sometimes so i can't manage very long.

I'm wondering how you gentlemen of age and obligations, make time to spend a couple of hours gaming, what are your tricks? Also if your children grow older i suppose they keep themselves busy more?
Good thing about this on the other hand, is that there is absolutely no need to buy a next gen console now as i still have to finish tons of great games and buy others that i didn't get around to yet like "the last of us" :D
 
My tricks you ask? Well simple, I sold my PS3 the first quarter of 2011 and sold my graphics card and steering wheel in October 2011. No more playing for me. I'm done with playing games, for now.
 
I sometimes do think that there's way too many good games on earth. Luckily, since I won't be buying a next-gen console as a protest against online gaming costing money, I can spend more of my precious time on the older gems that I haven't yet got to fully experience. :)

(I know this is already an old topic, @mister dog, but being childfree does a lot of good for my gaming life now and in the future. :dopey:)

If, however, I feel the need to stab someone in the face with a Cutlass, I wait until they're in bed and my wife is either Facebooking/watching ice skating/sleeping. For me there really isn't any other time, either.

:lol: Good idea and more or less what i do also, only downside is that i play my racing games with a wheel, so I can't set the whole thing up and play + keep an eye on what the little hoodlum is doing at the same time.
I'm guessing you use the controller then during daytime for GT6 purposes?

Indeed. I've dabbled with a wheel but I can never get the hang of it for some reason. Granted the only one I've tried is an old Logitech Driving Force borrowed from a former co-worker. Perhaps with a newer/better one I'd fare better but in all honesty I'm so used to mashing buttons that it's not a big issue.
 
I don't even have any kids and I still cant keep up with all the amazing games on the 360 / PS3. And I play EVERY single day and still cant keep up with all the games. I really don't know how some of you get in gaming time with kids. The great news is once they are old enough you can get them their very own gaming systems and they can keep themselves busy or even play games with you. :)

Are you worried about them replicating the behaviour? Because if so I think the ready availability of cutlasses is probably a more pressing issue.

No wonder there's such a problem with piracy these days. SOPA was totally justified.
 
Even though I'm in high school I think I'll have to subside in playing a lot of games until College. The program I signed up for demands a lot of work and effort from me & I kinda want to get into a good college. I sneak in a few hours here and there like racing but I won't find much time anymore in my last two years.
 
Well, i'm a gamer and my wife is a gamer and we have a 6 month old daughter. Thing is, we are two, so we just help eachother and just play some when it fits, and ofcourse when the little lady is asleep.
Since my wife is a gamer too i don't have to do the "tv sessions", that many other guy has to doo to keep the missus happy.
There are indeed way too many games, and since i love to play online i usual spend more time on games, so that doesn't help. But i just have to choose. Right now i am mainly playing World of Tanks and AC4: Black Flag, and GT6 is left out to dry for the times i feel like driving.

When i get a new game, i usualy drop WoT for a while and focus on the new game, and then get back to WoT. I didn't do that with AC4 as i just did not want to rush it, so i play both.

Problem is that when I do a gaming session, I like to "get into the mood of the game", for at least a couple of hours (time flies also when you are having fun). And with obligations/ small kids around there is only the opportunity to play for a limited time in a row.

A single footballgame you can throw in there for 15 mins, time permitted, but if you want to get immersed in the world of GTA5 for example it's not even worth booting it up. You feel the same, your play in bursts so to speak?
 
It depends, if it's only very short i rather be on youtube. But i normaly get decent time in. When i play WoT my wife generaly takes care of the little one, since i can't run off in the middle of a game. Or she'll sit on ly lap, trying to mash the keys on the keyboard :)
 
If I only have an hour or so I'll just fire up Netflix as I can quit watching whenever I want/need to (sounds a bit like an addict, doesn't it? :lol: ). More time than that warrants a gaming session. 👍

Honestly, I see it exactly the opposite... A lot of been there done that, cookie-cutter games. I rarely buy any anymore, because they all seem the same nowadays. I've got two 360s, two PS3s, a Wii, and have less games for all three of them combined than I do for my original Playstaion alone. With that, I thoroughly enjoy all of my PSone games to this day, where there are only a handful of games that held my interest for any amount of time on this past generation's consoles. IMHO, the last great console (gamewise) was the Dreamcast. Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough to build a substantial library. Still, I got more out of it than I have my 360, PS3 or Wii. I am definitely waiting on purchasing any of the new consoles.
