My brother-in-law writes for the local paper. In the business section today he had this article which talks a little about me. Actually a lot, by a columnist point of view.
Pretty cool, eh? (:
By no means am I on the cutting edge of technology.
That's my brother-in-law. He's a computer guy for a swank Little Rock ad agency. He routinely replaces computer hardware that is infinitely more powerful than most of the machines in our newsroom. He talks about processor speed, hard drive capacity and RAM space the way car enthusiasts talk about engines, carburetors and tires.
He is, by default, the family's network support specialist, though we the family are often low-priority clients (read: non-paying and often frustrating).
For Christmas this year, he bought me a new computer keyboard, which I love. Since he works in a graphics-intensive environment and is partial to Apple computers, I should have reciprocated the gift with a shirt I saw that read "Homey don't right click."
And he's up on the toys. Phones, digital cameras, you name it. I fully intend to solicit and, funds available, follow his advice on which MP3 player to get.
The old adage says a mother always wants a doctor, a lawyer and a plumber in the family. But in today's world of bits and gigabytes, a network support specialist is up there.
Pretty cool, eh? (:
