Hey, guys. Since I've been away for all the week, I got my hands on the wheel just this evening; clocking a '12.5 at Willow in the M6. Wish it was Monday, but it is what it is... late. I could notice btw few things:
  • Even with tiny differences on marks, tha M6 is just a more powerful Alfa 4C gr4, in the end. The only two differences are the esses in 2nd and the last corner in 4th gear (3rd and 5th in the Alfa), but at same exact marks. Before that is pure 4C gr4, imho, especially the "strech the 4th and just lift" at turn 2.
  • sometimes, exiting with too much lock from the esses gives as reward a nice fly towards the bravest spectator I've ever seen. I can’t imagine how many BM this guy has seen flying, but if he's still there at this time, he's my hero. 🤣
  • It's true. The less the tyres scream, the faster the car goes. Thanks @newmedia_dev for the video.
I know that tomorrow I'm destined to visit the Area 51, the 52 and the 53 maybe, but I can't wait to enjoy some racing. I love the sunlight effects even more than last time. It gives a sense of drama that's difficult to have or feel without rain. PD really nailed it.
Everybody, have a great weekend.

Well today Daily Race C at good ole willows, started off good, managed to get 4th overall but started very bumpy and had to slow down becuase I tapped/bumped the leader and he spun out, slowed down, recovred to 4th overall.

My second race ws absymal, just managed to claw it back to 9th place after nudging, pushign and bumpin centrall all over. But I clawed my DR back up to B & S now so will keep trying my best to race clean.

I am happiest in Dr C, as i saw your grid is a BRZ Cup race, with an one bmw, what might be the safety car, i already lost my interest in advancing. It starts mid B when only one of the meta makes sense. I understand why you pro drivers, are so upset with the game. And being top 50 in the world and p6 in the race is also frustrating.

[...]
Well, the M6 does work as well, it suffers a bit more with tyre wear at the end of the stint but over the course of a race in the right hands it’s competitive. The BRZ is excellent but I don’t know if I’d stretch it so far as to call it BRZ Cup. Anyway, use what you like is always decent advice.

I think perhaps you misunderstood a bit, there was nothing bitter or being upset about that, I genuinely just found it pretty astonishing and funny. A qualifying time around P30 - 40 is usually a given pole or at least Q2, in my experience rarely do so many high rated and high qualifying people actually join the races (altough race C is the most popular one with the top crowd).

In any case, the sentiment was positive, not frustration. I’m happy Willow Springs is getting some love! ;-)
Very interesting to watch, and I can see where I am going wrong during my races. 👍👍
Happy if you got some value out of it, friend!

I've had some good anti meta races using the Ferrari at Willow Springs, including an exceedingly rare back-to-podium performance.

Turns out matchmaking was kind to me, again. I'm a high-C driver moonlighting as a high-B driver.

I jest, but all it takes is to slip one category down and you realise the players have very good pace but a bit loose on the safety/awareness side of things. I guess getting smoked in A lobbies is the lesser of two evils.

Sums up the week for me. Started in P13 at Willow Springs, kept it neat and clean and was in P8 by Lap 13, only to be spun around and ending up crossing the finish line last... Hope tomorrow bring better racing. Gnite!

It didn't. 4th at last lap after being 6th on the grid, sent outside from "the guy" called out already in the pre race's chat. He sent me out at esses exit not just one time, but twice. One when 3rd (lost 2 pos but survived), the second at last lap after my recovery to 4th over-cutting at the end of 8th lap. The guy made a mess in all 3 races I participated. I btw really enjoyed the 14 laps before the fact. Maybe another time. 🫤

Well I’ll be glad to see the back of this week, I hope C goers enjoyed Willow. Great track from the gr4 Alfa 4 cup recently but too many laps for me,

I’ve had a torrid week, not done too bad time wise but Brands is always a sweaty affair to kill DR as I found Saturday night accompanied by a few beers 🤣

Had some fun and wins at Suzuka but really need me some racing back.

So here’s to a great set next week 🤞

Hope you enjoyed your racing this week guys

Thankfully (I mean I’m not confident in that assertion) the wife was away on a hen do in Spain so it’s been daddy daughter time (and very much well needed and enjoyed)

So very little racing or TTs this week. On balance I’m fairly pleased with that, it’s been a polarising week (to be expected in the GT summer season).

I’m hoping the racing will get better for us all next week.

Well done to everyone that nailed it or persevered!

See you all on Monday morning 👋👍

An interesting Race A that you and I shared - had a bit of everything.

I managed to keep up with you fast guys at the front, saw most of them suddenly had penalties, and thought my chance had come, only to get pushed wide by a fellow Brit at the final turn!

Nice to see you in race as always mate 😁

Nice little combo once you got used to how to take the first turn, then its positioning and flat out, if you are able to.

Never did Grand Valley in a racecar. Will be "interesting". Nordschleife seems nice but not so much for my still very virgin DR/SR. Plus those "clean race" statistics even without touching another car.

Daily race C is in keeping with PDs lack of creativity lately. 2 laps with a forced pit stop, making it impossible to set a fastest lap! This means you can't get a 3 star race, even if you win! Absolutely insane, the lack of care for giving us races which will encourage participation. How hard would it have been to add an extra lap to.extend the race to 24 minutes? No news of a new exhibition season and this is what we've got to deal with lately.

@GOTMAXPOWER Has excelled himself this time with his latest stunt. How to trick the car behind you into spinning, even when that car behind is driven by @Tidgney

He let me pass because I was flying with his slipstream then as soon as I was doing the pace I drove like a drunk 💀

I really like the look of this race, should be a fun week!

Understood what you mean and i had the same thinking or would have had the same expectations when entering a race while being in the top 40.

That's usually my trick. Spinning off when following someone who also goes off. I guess I'm not the only one who is foolish enough to blindly follow the car in front to our inevitable doom.

It's a known phenomana, "Spinning in Sympathy". I remember learning it early in my karting days after doing the same thing. One of the more experienced drivers told me he could see I was going to do it, as my eyes were focused on the kart in front that was spinning. It's not just when they're spinning, even missing apexes, if you're eyes are too much on them not the track, you'll make the same small mistakes.

The trick is to make sure your eyes are focused on where you want to go, not the spinning car.

I find do have a habit of locking my eyes onto the car in front a lot more when it's someone I rate as faster than me, as I want to mimic their moves. Compared to somone who's slowing me up, then I'm a lot more focused on the track ahead and finding way past.

Target Fixation we tend to go and follow where we are looking.

A couple of good examples are when there is no road furniture to hit except one pole, you look at the pole and that’s where you end up.

Another example is when a car is sliding looking to the side where you want to go to hold or control the slide/drift.

It can be subconscious as well so you have to sometimes actively focus on where you want to be.

It’s a primary contributor to understeer as your vision starts drifting wider and wider as will the car.

Need to get iunder .40 still not confident enough this gr.4 car handle those corners better then i can 😅 tommorrow another day gonna be a fun week
edit got finally under...

I managed to get 4/5 back to back laps in on B pleased with the initial start.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here but I think for us normal drivers the 650 isn’t the car, it’s a little counter intuitive to drive it to its strengths and it doesn’t seem like it’s has very good brakes compared to some of the other cars. It’s more stable but it’s not something I enjoy driving that much anymore to be honest.

My first laps were in the M6 and then just switched to the GTR and I found these more enjoyable drives and competitive, the 458 looks fast as well. Have never driven the RCZ but it’s doing well. Edit: at GV

Don’t mind Grand Valley at all, will be tough this week with the times already down, started with a 1.51.5xx and hopefully will see this evolve into a 50 somewhere.

Glad to have some racing back so this week will be about DR repair

Race A definitely not for me this week and either C 😁

Enjoy
