top gear lap record beaten

:D

i think even that would struggle to :P

An R390 could keep up but there is only one. and sadly it is not in road worthy condition and is stored in a museum. and i didnt say from the factory did i? hmm let me see maybe a GTR LM would pose a challenge and there is a road legel one that can be registered, and its has a respectable 550 BHP and good handling.

Can it beat this? Standing Quarter mile 7.57@ 305.96

That said, I still say the Koenigsegg is really boring, design-wise.

But it's got sweet doors. I mean any company that calls their doors "Dihedral Synchro-Helix Door Actuation" has to be doing something right. Plus I have to imagine it would impress chicks.

But other then the sheer awesomeness of the doors it does look rather like a generic super car.

but your compareing a FACTORY Ultima to a MODIFIED skyline how is that fair? if your arguement was to stand up that a skyline would beat it then it would have to be a factory one rather than a modified one.Not even the Z Tune skyline could keep up with this ultima and having been in an ulitma GTR and a Top Secret Skyline i have to say the ultima was the better experience :P

look i like skylines as much as the next guy, but you honestly think that a modified skyline would easily beat that time? I am not saying a skyline is a slow car, i am just saying that the aren't many skylines (if any) that could beat that time. If you think about it that skyline would have to be faster than an ferrari enzo, koenigsegg ccx, pagani zonda f, and maserati mc12. just because you play racing games doesn't mean you know everything about cars.

i dont think the skyline is god i think the CCX is god. and there is a "Light Tuned" version you can buy from factory. Nismo Skyline Z-Tune. any questions?
and just because i play video games means i know everything about cars. i dont think so the ultima is a quick car theres nothing wrong with that. im just saying that a skyline could beat an ultima

But others have stated: Cars with more power than the Skyline Z-Tune (Zonda, CCX, Enzo, MC12), and less weight than a Z-Tune (Same list) have lapped the test-track. The Ultima GTR, with a track-based setup, huge amounts of power, 4WD go get it down to the ground, and that little weight, was 4 seconds quicker than those.

Now, 4WD can only get you that far. There's a time when you also need power, lightness, and a proper chassis to support it. I doubt a Skyline outcorners a Zonda - and since Ultimas pull better skidpad figures, and are far more track-focused in chassis and setup orientation, I'm sure they'll outcorner both of those.

But if there was a track tuned version of the GTR it would be a contender and PROBABLY beat the ultima. And im not saying the ultima is a bad car or anything its just different looking. And the person whos said a Top Secret GTR would not be fun,The R33 they have has got 900HP and hits 300KMH in 30 secs. now tell me that wouldnt be fun.

A) Track-tuned versions exist. But not from a factory!

B) No, it probably wouldn't. A Skyline, by design, is front-heavy, heavy, and has a softer chassis. An Ultima is by design already superior. It has a strong chassis designed with track-driving in mind, it's got huge amounts of power (though Skylines can match it, when not from factory), and it's very light. So, you'd have to take off about 500KGs at the very least, double the horsepower rating (which isn't that much of a challenge on Skylines ;)), move back the engine, improve every possible part of the chassis and suspension, smooth out the aerodynamics, and then pray to god.

C) He didn't say of wouldn't be fun. He said he was in the Top Secret GT-R. He said is was great fun. He just said the Ultima was more fun.

Sorry bout the bit about top secret. misread. Yeah a skyline is front heavy and there heavy in general but if you put those improvements you said into and R32 Skyline GTR the car would be up there in Power and acceleration, there not a slow car. And the Ultima is fast that record probably wont be beaten for a while to. There is a track tuned vers. of a GTR from factory but i cant remember the name.

Point is:

A) No Skyline offered by Nissan is capable of beating the record

B) The modifications needed are enormous, and you may just as well take an Espace F1.

You go in the epic posts thread sir.

-> All go and no show works fine with me, as long it delivers results. Not like those other "busche-wa" super/hyper cars. :indiff:

-> I'd get the Ultima than that car what they call 'Reventon'. :indiff:

The fact all GTR's up to the R34 were based on a family saloon chassis buries any suggestion that it can beat the world's fastest cars (And i mean that generically, so please don't nitpick).
And 1.6 tonnes of car doesn't = fastest car in the world, even with "light mods" . It only takes one idiot to get us to where this thread is now :ouch:

Of course, all this makes me wonder how good a driver this "Stig" fellow actually is...I'm betting there's better drivers out there, and one of 'em had this car...

Uh.... which Stig?

TG's test track isn't the be-all and end-all of car comparisons. It's usually cold, often greasy, and, if you're unlucky, wet.

Do I doubt an Ultima could beat the Koenigsegg here? Not really... smaller car, lighter, probably less of a handful compared to the extremely powerful Egg, which needed a revised rear spoiler to complete that lap.

Skyline what? It's a great car, yes, but expecting it to be in the same league as the mid-engined supercars is like asking the Koenigsegg to keep up with a Formula 1 car on the racetrack.

i agree there. the ultima is a fast car im not saying its a bad car or anything but how you could stand to drive it everyday well. its not really a car to me. I know a skyline could not beat it. ther too heavy and have bad front heavyness. ther i said it the Ultima would own the skyline. The TG track is either cold or warm thats it. when they tested the Noble on one of there DVDs it was foggy, cold and sprinkling.

Using that example you could say a lot of cars "aren't really cars" to you, and take exception to them being driven on the test track. Aston N24? Caterhams? Atom? On the subject of an Ultima being not driveable everyday, that depends on your tolerance - a customer at my garage seems perfectly happy to drive it in traffic (albeit the addition of AC helped), but this is all probably irrelevant seeing as if you're rich enough to drive a car like this you're probably going to have another more practical car at your disposal anyway.

but how you could stand to drive it everyday well.
i know several people that do :D both have poor excuses for an exhaust system (straight throughs with 5 ft flames) in fact at the last trackday we had a convoy of a modified murcielago,2 ultimas,R8 and 993 Turbo.

The only car I could think of right now that has a chance of getting close to the ultima is a gumpert appollo, not some boxy skyline.
