Do any of them make an appearance on GT5? Id like to stick it to Tom Cruise, but its not fair if I can use a Ferrari F10 to blow him away?

If not, are there any cars which are similar-ish?

Sadly no reasonably priced car, I think someone said the closest was another Suzuki, but I don't remember the name. There was a whole thread, unless I'm mistaken.

So true...very sad indeed. :(
I really find it hard to believe that the Producers (or at least Jeremy and the lads) let their Top Gear track make an appearance, and NOT be fully available to use like on their show..
I mean, no "reasonably priced car" is bad enough, but we can't even do a standing start.... :(

I investigated the characteristics of the Liana, Lacetti and Kia Cee'd, and I found they are "FF", from 1.3L to 2.3L and from 90 cv to 155 cv, then I sorted the magnificent "GT5 Matrix v47" by drive and hp and I got some results.

I think you'll agree that is has to be a premium car, so it excluded many others to conclude that 2 cars may be the ones:

VITZ RS 1.5 '07
March 12SR '07

Both are less than the initial $20,000 (reasonably priced), "FF", and 110 Hp.

I will try them tonight and I’ll compare them to the times of the show.

Liana’s Best 1m 46.7
Lacetti’s Best 1m 45.8
Kia’s Best 1.42.8

What do you think?

Try the Suzuki Swift & give it an oil change.

To get a grid start on the Top Gear Test Track, just use that track in your online lobby & set it to grid start, simples 💡

OK I agree with you, and they are only 125 hp, thanks for the suggestion.
I’ll try them all stock and no aids, but after work.

Been having a little competition on another car board I'm on. Using a bone stock '08 Fiat 500. my personal best is a 1:43.972 with no aids (abs=1). I think I can still shave off another half second or so, but it's been fun!

Last night I checked the possible cars that could be used to emulate the drive on the show.

Considerations:
-The cars were new, and with cero modifications.
-I drove them with no aids with DS3.
-I used online race (only me), 1 lap and grid starting.
-I pretended to do 3 races for each car, but I did it only with the Vitz and March, and I did only 1 race with the Suzukis.
-Very important. It was 1 a.m. after a hard work day, so my times can be better, I hope.

The results are the next:

March 12SR '07 1,43.257 / 1,41.552 / 1,41.826
VITZ RS 1.5 '07 1,43.854 / 1,43.367 / 1,43.257
Suzuki Swift Sp ’05 1,39.039
Suzuki Swift Sp ’07 1,39.912

My conclusion:

The Suzukis are much faster and easier to drive, and easily beat the times of the show, and for that reason I don’t suggest them.
The March also beat the times, but I was closer to the times.
The VITZ had less grip, it’s slippery, you can burn your tires in the curves, It was funnier, and I was not able to beat the Kia’s best time 1,42.8 by John Bishop (the 2nd is Tom Cruise with 1.44.2), so I think the VITZ is on Kia’s range, that also is a hatch back.

I suggest you to use the Toyota VITZ RS 1.5 '07 and change the tires for the harder ones to make it more difficult, and drive with no aids. That will do.

And I will do it tonight.

What do you think? Do you agree? Suggest another test?

By the way the on the show the Kia is 3 seconds faster than the Lacetti and 4 than the Liana, so if you want to compare your times with the former seasons just add 3 or 4 seconds. http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/

Cheers for that link mate, very helpful, I couldn't remember the top times.

Thanks for all the research guys. I'm surprised this isn't a bigger thread. TTing a reasonably priced car on the Top Gear Test Track was one of the first things I wanted to try on GT5! Cheers for the info.

,,,, but we can't even do a standing start.... :(

I use the "wiggly bit of tar" just before the real start finish line as the standing start point. Line the first part of that with the bottom of your screen when viewing from the bumper as it's about a metre from the trigger point, too close to really get any other discernable landmarks anyway

It's close enough, but seems a little silly that despite having a clear marker point laid out in front of them PD decided that wasn't where the lap started from!? :indiff: I mean, "how hard can it be?"

It has occurred to me that perhaps zero mods is not the most accurate way forward, as the real car has a roll cage, therefore the chassis is stiffened?

What do you think?

It has a roll cage and racing seats. Thats it unless they break something... even then they replace it with stock parts. But i dont think the roll cage is actually secured to the chassis enough to make it more stiff. I could be wrong though.

I've been thinking about this, and how to try to match it. I know a lot of people here are all about not using the aids, but I think that reasonably priced car has ABS and TCS that cannot be turned off like a sports car can. It also has a roll cage and racing seats, so maybe the stage one lightweight kit. I'm not trying to look for an edge, I'm just trying to match it as close to what I can see on the show.

Then it's the question of which car to try to match. I haven't really looked into the specs as much as you guys, but I'll definitely use some of these suggestions here for the cars. Just looking for tips and opinions for that car, and preferably a new car so my buddies can get the exact same car.
