Hi everyone I have a very veery very big problem with getting this track.

here is why:

§ 1: You get overtaken by cars skiping the forbiden line and they make it but i you do it you have to start over!!!

§ 2: If any of the cars tuch yours to hard when its not your fault you have to start over they race on!!!

§ 3: You have to use cheats/driver assist to even getting near fair
conditions!!!

§ 4: The beginner and hard have to slow cars wich dont make anything better with the above unfair things!!!!

So is there a way to make it 100% fair? If not can i download the damm map somewere?

I will be on in 1hr when I get home from work, I can add you and show you how to beat the test then if you want?

Which one are you referring to?

My guess is that he is talking abut the Lotus test.
The Samba bus and shwimwagen tests are very easy.

only tip I can give you is practice and keep your right foot under control ;)

Lotus 111R race i presume.

It's a good challenge that's for sure.
Using SRF will make you faster, all other assists will ultimately slow you down.

As you go through the pack, note that there are several points where the AI slows down too much. These are your golden opportunities.

The first is the left kink before Chicago. You can knock over the striped cones without getting DQ'ed, just stay clear of the solid red ones.

Next up is the braking zone for the Hammerhead. You need to be ruthles and careful at the same time.

The last big opportunity is braking for Bacharach. The AI goes very slow here and it's a good overtaking spot. Be careful though, as the AI brakes just after diving for the apex.

It's trial and error basically. The AI drives the same line every time so you should be able to gradually learn the rythm and overtake effectively.

Best of luck "grabben"

Theres a glitch you can do on any race on top gear test track, online and offline races including the lotus and vw challenges. Do the race as normal but when you get to the "folowthrough" corner go straight to the start line insted of doing past the tyres and when at th end past the start lime turn around to cross the line again and it will count as one lap. Sorry if I disnt explain to well but thats how I did the challenges.

Here:

When driving the Lotus 111R, I suggest SRF and TCS. For the Samabus and Kubelwagon, no assists are needed, just keep a smooth line and draft as much as possible. With the Kubelwagon, don't keep flooring it - it tops out at roughly 51-52MPH - just keep the throttle steady once you reach 50MPH and try to not hit the rev limiter.

This is great advice, especially for the wagon part. Once you hit the rev limiter it takes a few days to drop back to the speed where you can give it gas again.

I made it after about 3h non stop on just that very boring event! I will never do that event again.
In total its probably a day or more.

But thx for the very useful tips I made it clean the shortcuts but as I said it took to long time and was to boring to ever be redone.

By the way useing ANY driver assist makes the game boring what ever car you are driveing. Some cars even feel dead with driver asist.

The game is fun when you drive with no driver assist at all. And even more fun with a car that overstears a nit or even a lot. The downside to it is that you never even get close to winning an online race that way :)

Mostly because 70% of the players tend to use cars that is easy to control or they pick a super car and tune it down. wich lead to the fact that it gets very hard to keep up with a normal sports cars. I have,t even ever seen a normal sports car win a 500-550 pp race online.

But again thx for a lot of useful ways to win this stupid event

Oh and all the levels in the event are as unfair as my list say they only have the wrong grades

Samba bus: Hard
Lotus: Near imposible
Kubel wagon: Very Hard

is better grades for them

The samba bus only took me about 30min to 1h complete

and the Kubel waggon about 1h 30 min to complete

I just wanted to say, I completely disagree with what I have put in bold. I use driving assists, and I have fun on the game.

Agreed. I can't stand the people who think they're superior because they refuse to use assists.

I use ABS 1 as this is the general consensus that this is how the designers intend it to be played and a very accurate test of driver skill in most cars(this is corroborated by some who have been to the GT academy finals)

However, there is no correct way to play GT5. In fact, I find that sometimes, in order to enjoy playing I must adjust the settings accordingly. This is not to imply right or wrong but rather to show a personal preference and lack of skill thereof.

EDIT: In the absence of brake pedal feedback( I own a G27 and do not intend on modifying it or upgrading to a wheel/pedal with brake pedal feedback) I use ABS 1.

Furthermore, I think the beauty of GT5 is it's accessibility in this respect. Ridox2JZGTE, your comment speaks to this point. I agree. Some days, I can accept the challenge and others I need to scale back the difficulty.

I have an impression that most GT5 players who used assist, whatever that is, are based on their own preference. The real reason behind their choice of such preference are vary, and only known to them, but one thing is certain - assist make the game easier to play. No assist at all - hardest, all assist on - easiest, regardless how realistic it is to have them or not if compared to real life counterpart.

My reason is simple, challenge, I like to challenge myself, and without brake assist, I find so much pleasure of doing the braking on my own ability and the way the car gave feedback when the tires are at the limits of braking is one of the charm.

Don't get my wrong, when I'm I'm actually racing I'll turn them off and race fair, but when I'm just being casual I'll turn some on. I use a DS3 so having them off all the time can become a chore.

Its not about being better than anyone else its the simle fact that half the cars in the game gets lifeless when you turn on the Driver assist. And by that also very boring to drive
but i agree that there is no right way to play it but the game needs more regultations settings added to it.

For example year regulation no racecar regulation no tuneing regulation and any car in your garage regulation.

And maybe a PP class system for the cars in the game dependeing on the cars pp when they have the parts not adjustments that you make with the engine chip.

brake late I did that a lot it made me have to start over due to hiting the to slow moving AI in front of me or if I did,t use the raceline it made me have to start over due to useing to much of the track :)

I beat it in on shot just pass them on the bentley and the hammerhead and brake late and pass

I beat the Samba Bus in 3 tries, the Lotus in a month (:(), and the Kublewagon in 3.

I seen some grade the races, here's mine:

Samba Bus - Easy
Lotus - Very hard
Kublewagon - Easy

I didn't beat the Lotus one until I learned how to control a drift. Once I learned that, it became easy with no aides except abs 1. You really need to feel the car as it slides everywhere, you need to learn how to control it.

The other 2, you just need to brake late and draft as much as possible. The cleaner the better, any hit will slow you down. Pretty easy once you master those techniques.

There is a trick for the lotus one look it up on YouTube

The cheat that's shown in the video with the Samba buses works for all three challenges. Worked for the Kubelwagens, worked for the buses and it definitely worked for the Lotuses.

I agree with Bluntified, once you learn how to control a drift the Lotus challenge becomes much easier. I did it with the TCS off, since it was slowing me down when I would try to accelerate :grumpy:

Iv'e gotten in first for the Beginner and Hard but the Lotus is just to hard for me to handle. Whether i'm using the controller or wheel, I just can't do it.

I did make it without the cheat and no driver assist (after 200 times+) You as said you had to learn every part of the map first and then you had to learn wich parts of the track to use to overtake. Then you have to learn how fast you can go in every part of the track.

but i did test the cheat in practice and it work there to I bet it works online to but its a very big cheat and if anyone do it online I hope he gets kicked out. I will however use that cheat if I ever have to make that again.
