An evolution of the Top Speed of GT5 Cars v2, this thread is for top speeds following the 2.08 update, which messed with quite a few of the previous results. Some were slower using the same settings, but much faster following a little tweaking, and so the former results became somewhat pointless.

So, this new thread is updated with only results posted from the 2.08/2.09 tests.

Googledocs version 2.08/9 Table of Results

To submit data, follow these easy steps:
1) Fully tune the car you wish to collect the top speed of.
2) Put 400km on the car (roughly 250+ miles) to break the engine in, and then oil change it.
3) Bring it to Route X DLC track, it should show up as "Speed testing" in GT Life, and run your car from line to line (0-10,000m). Please only submit results from the standing 10km runs, although anecdotal banked runs, full lap and drafted speeds may be left as additional comments.
4) Check to see if you've beat any of the current top speed records in the link above.
5) If you have beat a record, or would like to post one on a new car, please submit your max speed obtained during the run.

Previously we have asked for PP levels, wing data and such, but given that these are largely unchanged I have decided to omit them from this spreadsheet, as they already exist in the two previous incarnations of the spreadsheets.

New features in this spreadsheet include:
  • Speed values can now be submitted using either MPH or KMH, as I have put in formulas to calculate in either direction
  • Speed difference from previous update now recorded - compare how much the update has ruined your cars! (or how much faster some of them are)

I've already filled around 70 records, so there's a lot more to go with this, so grab out those cars and see what they'll do now!

I've had some time to figure out how max speed tuning has changed in the 2.08 update.

Less DF (min front DF , low rear DF) on almost all cars is now faster.
In many cases when a car was faster with a wing pre 2.08 it's now faster without.

Because of the changes in aerodynamics , the cars that used to have wings are now in some cases faster with different rear ride height , front/rear springs and toe angles.

Then the (possible) ballast and/or position , will need adjusting if using pre 2.08 setup.

Rest of the max speed tuning seems to be as it was before.

My research cars and results:

Please check the Googledocs spreadsheet before posting records. The GTOne runs just over 339mph over the standing 10km speedtest, which is already recorded in the spreadsheet.

I finally figured out how to tune LMP's. :dopey:

Can I please get the 340mph GT-One tune ???
Please I will do anything for it ??

One guy (NOT ME) on YouTube posted a setting .. but with it on distance of 10km ... ~539-540 km/h ...

------------------------

Madmax86 discovered me so ... :D

547.6 km/h -->340.3mph

I don't know if i'll try again ... i'd like to test (for fun) other cars in speed with different execution !

Bumping this from the dead. Any chance I can get that 340mph tune for the GT-One?

Quicktune for getting close to this mark (as I just shutdown the ps3 for some attempted sleeptime)

Aero - lowest front / 51 rear
Ballast - add 200kg at -50
Ride height - Front highest / Rear lowest
All other values at their lowest settings except for front extension Max, rear compression Max
Camber & toe all at zero

Gearbox - set for between 360 to 370mph (Value in top right corner)

This should get you there, or at least close enough to work your gearing around enough to get to it.

Heh , you guys hit .6 in the GT-One alredy  I'm still stuck at .5

Found out a desynch / glitch in replay speedometer/s (clearly visible at speed test replays)

Off topic for one second what track is that on in the photo above?

The track is Special Stage Route X , part of GT5 "Speed Test pack" - DLC.
And the photo is from the 10km top speed test.

Hmm.. I think I shall have a go at some top speeds. after all, fastest R32 speed in GT4 is still mine! :mischievous:

R32 you say ? How about a list of R32s found in GT5.

Nismo
Skyline GT-R S-tune (R32) '00

Nissan
CALSONIC SKYLINE GT-R Race Car '93
SKYLINE GT-R (R32) '89
SKYLINE GT-R (R32) '91
SKYLINE GT-R N1 (R32) '91
SKYLINE GT-R R32 TC
SKYLINE GT-R V·spec (R32) '93
SKYLINE GT-R V·spec II (R32) '94
SKYLINE GT-R V·spec N1 (R32) '93
Skyline GT-R V-spec II (GT Academy) '94
SKYLINE GTS-t Type M (R32) '89
SKYLINE GTS-t Type M (R32) '91
SKYLINE GTS25 Type S (R32) '91

Other R32's (or not)

PENNZOIL Nismo GT-R '99 (not sure if R32 or R33 based on description)

HPA Motorsports
Stage II R32

Volkswagen
Golf IV R32 '03

Then there are (too) many cars to list which use the same base engine that is in a R32.

Stagea/s , many R33 & R34 street and race cars , Tommy Kaira ZZII '00 , New Beetle RSi.

Will try and get all these new speeds in the database tomorrow, then get back into some of my own that need some tweaking to do some new speed tests.

(EDIT: All recent test speeds now added into the database, Many thanks again to Madmax)

Are we just tuning for the highest speeds? Because some cars tuned for higher speeds actually run a slower lap time. Noticed this a lot on route X

Yes , only for the 10km speed test. (without reversing)

And don't bother testing the hybrid hacked cars , as there is no level field for comparison / competing.

MadMax

Audi Le Mans Quattro: 410 km/h.

That's without suspension tuning though, so it's probably capable of a bit more.

Good running with you the other night. Sadly we only ran gt1's. that's one car I'm ok at. I have others I have tuned way better. Cien, no stripe, sl65, sl600 and speed 12 to name a few

Man this whole top speed tuning has reenergized me to gt5. I'll post some if I beat some of your speeds right now I'm about anywhere from .2 or .4 tenths off of mad max's speeds

Well, I thought 325.6mph in the GT-One was special. Then again, the car isn't broken in yet either. I see I have 15mph to gain somewhere.

Edit: 252.2mph with the McLaren F1.
