Lamborghini Aventador J: Windshieldless, Roofless and looks like Lamborghini's Stirling Moss.

"The Lamborghini Aventador J is sure to be the envy of many car enthusiasts, but it may not be the most comfortable ride in the world. The new car, which made its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, lacks some of the basic features of an automobile. Like a roof, or a windshield.

But the Aventador J, which Lamborghini calls “the most uncompromising open super sports car of its entire history,” isn’t exactly aimed at the mass consumer. Auto Week reports that the car was limited to just a one unit product run. And if you were hoping to grab the extremely rare and expensive car, you’re out of luck. The Lamborghini Aventador J has already been sold for $2.8 million.

Lamborghini declined to give the identity of the buyer.

So is it worth the near $3 million price tag? Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of AutomobiliLamborghini, said:

“With the Lamborghini Aventador J, we have molded our brand DNA into its most definitive form to date. This automobile is as extreme and as uncompromising as only a Lamborghini can be. The new Lamborghini Aventador J is the most radical open supersports car of Lamborghini’s history. Its name comes from our tradition and combines an unconventional design with technology innovation. Nowadays we are confronted with several regulations that we face in the spirit of challenge. The Aventador J is the proof that, despite the rules, Lamborghini will always make people dream, even in the future.”

The Washington Post reports that the Aventador J has the same 700-orespower, 6.5 liter V-12 engine used in the Aventador coupe. The car lacks a windshield and requires the driver to wear a helmet. Lamborghini did say that the Aventador J can be registered for road use."

Reminds of that gallardo spyder concept they showed a few years ago....

That central rear-view mirror is the only drawback for me... They talk about road going regulations and pushing the limits, but it just doesn't fit in with it all. I love the look without the windscreen?

They could have embedded the rear view in the dash it self so it blends with the dash and leaves things streamlined.

But if they'd have done that it would be useless because you'd be looking at your chest.

A high-mounted rearview camera with a screen in the dash would be a good solution.

I would go the camera route, putting the deposit down now (I hope the peugeot 206 will be enough to sway them to make a second. First is always the most expensive too so will knock a few 0's off the price).

I heard of this a few days ago... 2.8 million... they must be on drugs:tdown::indiff:.

This is the sort of car that I quite simply can't understand. In my opinion, it's not even half as appealable as Stirling Moss McLaren. You'd be better of with standard Aventador (if such a thing existed) or Caterham for open-top sensation.

What if you wanted Caterham open top sensation with nearly 700 horsepower and a V12 soundtrack to match?

I envy whoever was lucky enough to pick it up ... sad face.

Been waiting for a street-legal version of one of these. Close enough.

The Caparo T1 would fit the R15 idea much better, minus the fact it wants to torture and kill you.

Or wanted a Lamborghini but were so ugly that you wanted to be able to easily justify wearing a helmet?

Thank you Lambo.

I'd love to see this release and sell. It doesn't fit "the look" so I don't expect many sales but I do expect the enthusiast to see this as the super car crossed with an ariel and recognize the awesome.

No way around it, this doesn't look like the standard T-top but there's a reason for that- it will be fast.

Lambo is bringing back the driver's supercar and I hope we can all enjoy the marvel of it.

lol, talk smack about being an enthusiast or a driver who loves fast cars but if you talk down on this car I doubt you are really an enthusiast or a lover of fast cars.

Not only does that car look good but it tells us something...

Black Stig didn't die, or live with the sea creatures... He got a job at Lamborghini. :p

Being a fast car enthusiast doesn't mean you have to like all of them and, since supercars are so irrational and full of passion, there's no way to be objective in your judgement.

Gonna get flamed, but i think it's quite hiddeous to look at.

Does look tons better than the Sesto Elemento

This ^ pretty much.

When i first saw the Aventador, i wasn't really over impressed to be honest (styling reminded me of a Christmas cracker)... however, it has grown on me over time, but the Aventador J just doesn't do it for me, same as the Sterling Moss Mercedes... for me, barchetta styling only really works on cars with smaller proportions, anything else just looks plain daft (imo).
