Torque in high revs

In cars like the r10 tdi and enzo you can't put your foot down in the first 2 or sometimes 3 gears because the torque just overpowers the car and you spin or make smoke whilst going nowhere.

My question is how do you overcome it? It frustrates me to only half put my footdown due to overpowering torque. I feel I have to go flat out but it's not the case, you have to be gentle...
 
I know, I just like me and the raw car though (abs on 1 mind you). Looks like careful it is then, the r10 is such a knife edge for me. Thanks for the reply :)

Yes it's really hard to control and yes, the 787B is a lot easier to drive and faster.
 
The thing is real cars have a mich longer pedal throw so you have more control. Even if you are using a wheel it stil doesent give you proper control. In addition to that real cars have stiffer pedals (unlike my logitech driving force pro).
 
Delicate throttle control. Don't force the car to accelerate, flow into the throttle, let the curves and bends of the road ahead determine when to throttle and when to let go off the gas.
 
use TCS for the R10. as i'm sure it would be pretty stressful trying to control a 8xxhp with 1000 torque race car engine without it.
 
While I get that for sports cars and having fun in them turning off assists makes sense, however when racing, why would you turn off driving aids when real racers use them? I know some classes IRL do not allow assists, and many in-game events (like rally and stock car) are faster with aids turned off, however I just don't understand people's obsessions with turning driving aids off. Especially because there is not enough two-way feedback from the car in your controls (short of force feedback, but there are no lateral G feedback, some feedback from rear end sway when losing grip, no pedal feedback) to really be aware of what's going on like in a real race.

I don't mean to flame, but it's sort of on topic, and I'd really like to know people's fascinations with making things more difficult than need be, even if they're looking for more realistic simulation.

it's ego, makes them feel like a 'pro'.
 
It's really not an ego thing, I found my lap times to be much faster without driving aids. The car almost feels restricted when you start to lose grip in the corner, It's not much fun to drive when you're rear wheel drive car never oversteers.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, its not much fun if your car oversteers ad nauseum and every other turn you are correcting its wobbliness.
 
Traction Control is banned in almost all racing categories. Was actually surprised R10 had one.

The reason to turn it off in the game is because the tc in game cuts the engine power in corner exit too easily slowing you down.

So true. And for instance, u would die, hum.. approximately 4 times in a lap on the Le Mans circuit with a LMP1 car, without traction control.

afaik, at least in F1, TCS and other driving aids is banned to slow the cars down (in general).

Correcting oversteer or preventing it is not that difficult, you just need to be gentle on throttle control. It seems to be more manageable when you have pedals to work with.


But I understand how it will be difficult to handle a 800hp+ race car without TCS on a dualshock controller. You won't feel the feedback of the wheel, and are constantly either mashing on the gas or brake.

If I get a wheel, I will try it without aids but since I'm using a DS3, having no aids while using the FGT is a potential disaster. I can do it easily just with TCS and ABS on low with many other vehicles, but a similar attempt with the FGT didn't give me a good feeling.
