I just added a new feature to the forums home page, displaying the total number of views every thread here has accumulated. It's small, but pretty cool nonetheless (I think). :)

Good numbers man! You should be proud.

Oh yes, I am very proud! But, who slammed on the brakes right before we hit 4,000 members?! :(

Am I the only one who thinks that this is wierd? We have here at GTPlanet about 4,000 members. Yet, only about 50 or less are active members of GTPlanet. Looking through the pages of all members I saw that page after page was filled with people with 0 posts. Am I the only one who thinks that this is wierd? What is the explanation of it?

What I think is weird is the fact that you're the 2nd NON-moderator/administrator to post in the News/Announcements forum...:odd:

Anyways...:P

Why are there a lot with 0 posts? Here's my theory:
Some people discovered GTPlanet, and liked it so they decided to join, but never came back and posted. OR, some people signed up with multiple names, and haven't/don't post with some of the names. Or(this is a good one IMO)some of the "TOP REFERRING" members just went and registered a LOT of new member names, and gave credit to themselves as the referrer...:nervous:

I came to this conclusion by searching the profile of about 100 of the members referred by already existing members, and finding that about 95% of them have never made a single post...

Yeah I was wondering that myself Josh. I am not a Mod or anything and I can post in here. :odd:

Yeah I just do not understand why somebody would sign up with GTPlanet if they liked it but never came back to it again. :odd:
The Top Referring members thing could do the trick as well. There are just too little of them though to make up for ALL of those 0 people. Well, I still think this is strange. But I am active and I am happy. :D

Anyone can reply to messages posted here. I thought you guys knew that? :)

Well, anyway, I believe the difference in our number of registered and active users has a lot to do with the fact that you must be a member to view our more popular forums. Most people just want to read about what others are saying about GT3, so they quickly register, lurk for an hour or so, and hopefully get caught up in the fun of being an active member here at GTP. But, some people aren't interested in that, and that's OK. They've contributed with their membership, and (unless they have opted out of it), they will be receving the newsletter every week, right in their inbox. (See what I'm getting at?) ;)

But, just take a look around any online forum, whether guests are allowed to view posts or not, and you'll find that the large majority of members never contribute. :( :thumbsdow

Oh, wait, I see where you got that idea from: the forum description! Duh! Sorry, that's supposed to mean only administrators and moderators can post new threads. I'll go ahead and take it out to hopefully avert any more confusion. :)
