What's this wierd thing to the left of the Mazda badge on the trunk lid?

I noticed these on the JGTC cars in GT3 as well. I thought they were exhausts at first, but all the JGTC cars already have side exhausts. Are they cameras?

Whoa!! Holy ****, the mazda is a beauty! Is that an actual racecar? If so, is it the new JGTC RX-8?! Oh bTW those holes is where the fuel goes in.

Correct - those are for fast-dump fuel filler cans. They have a quick-disconnect nozzle that plugs into those. One dumps fuel in, the other picks up vapors and overflow from a return, to avoid spillage and explosions.

I remember seeing a 'net article about some ricer boy who thought they were exhausts also, and carefully and at great expense routed the exhaust up through the trunk of his car, just to be like his heroes...

Isn't there a stock production Porsche out there that has something like that?
None stock, but every 911 based racer has it. The other benefit these types of filler have, aside from the safety, are the speed. When you have a vent tube, it almose creates a sort of vacuum in the tank, sucking the fuel in that much faster. Great for those quick stops. Here are some pics of the 911 GT3-RSR using the same type of filler, in the front of course, not the rear like the RX8.

There has also been a thread here from someone who thought that Denso had exhausts coming out of it's boot/trunk. :dopey:
