hello everyone

I was looking over the footage from CES of the sony rep taking us through all the new cars etc. in GT5

I happened to notice that when he is talking about the Citroen C4 rally car, it comes under the banner of Rally/Touring Cars.

This obviously confirms some form of touring car for GT5 but we havent been shown any so far.

Any ideas? WTCC? DTM? Possibly V8 Supercars?

Food for thought anyways

They've had touring cars in GT before. No official championships though. They did have a mock DTM championship. Think it was called the "all german" or something.

I'd dig a BTCC of C.1999.

That would be great. Very unlikely though.

I think it was licensed to use that name (Probably because it stopped running in 1996 :P). Thats what it says ingame if i remember rightly, but thats the old DTM championship.

Thats the new one, which could be a possibility for GT5... If not, we still get the cars because i'm pretty sure PD have the rights to use cars from all the entrants, so i think apart from the latest season models we will see DTM touring cars. I think WTCC would be good too.

I hope they bring back the Opel Calibra Touring Car, that car just make me crazy!!!!

There have been Aussie V8's, Touring cars and DTM cars in it before...

.. as I've said before, PD may make great car models and have detailed physics engines, but they've never properly simulated any 'series', so I personally don't really see the difference!

As long as we get the 155 2.5 V6 Ti I'm happy.

In terms of cars in-game I'd expect the usual eclectic mix of cars, DTM from the early 90's to current, a few S200 machines here and there, a few fictional touring cars and maybe one V8SC.

I thought Kaz said, they are or were working overtime on the a.i.Or did someone from here say that ?.

There were plenty of DTM cars in GT4 and 1 or 2 WTCC cars(320si etc) but id love to see lots of btcc cars old and new!!-I know that probably won't happen though it woulf be nice to have 7 or 8 W/BTCC cars this time around!

Why, it was crap in my opinion compared to the other cars you could use in the Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft in GT4.

If they do have a series, I hope that they have the AI cars packed close enough, or it just won't be the same on replays. There is just something about a group of Touring cars taking a small speedy corner together that is just so damned graceful.

Guy's there are loads of touring cars in gtpsp. And as kaz said if its in gtpsp then its in gt5.

I agree Touringdevoteee, if they aren't swapping paint, knocking mirrors or passing each other on the same bend, then it just isn't the same.

One of the things I really loved was the fantasy of GT's lack of a series. Sure it would be great if they did add strict car series, but c'mon! Would you ever see a DTM car racing against a JGTC Supra, Aussie V8 Falcon and Le Mans GT BMW?

Edit:

Speaking of rubbing up against stuff, this has to be one of the most interesting racing series I know of. I would love if Brazil got some love and GT added the Interlagos track as well as the Copa Nextel series cars.

Another Edit: It seems the new cars have trouble with their hood's staying on.

Towards the end of this video KY mentions that "All the other types of racing on circuits all around the world will be included in Gran Turismo"

Not sure if that means anything or not but to me it sounds like V8 Supercars have a pretty good chance of being in. Aswell as the BTCC and DTM.

DTM eyeing Japanese GT tie-up

December 4th 2009, 16:05 GMT

A delegation from the DTM-organising ITR will travel to Japan to discuss the possibility of allowing the German touring cars and Super GT machinery to race together in the future, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reports.

Ah... I see. DTM in gt5 would rock. Excuse my ignorance. I only really followed F1 (since 1991, I'm 22) and BTCC (since mid 1990's) and whatever was on tv in the uk (so occasional Nascar, Indy etc) until I got the internet in 98. Now I follow pretty much every form of motorsport.

As for DTM, for those (very few people) who don't know, they can lap Brands Hatch indy approx 10 seconds per lap faster than BTCC cars.

Hope V8 Supercars make it in too.

The AI isn't good enough to support a decent Touring Car race!

Good point. Although it looked quite good in the official trailer. Check the bit at Tsukuba and the nascar.

^ But DTM cars have twice the engine capacity and an extra 170 bhp as well as all of the areo mods. DTM cars are more like silhouette racers whereas BTCC cars are loosly based on their 'donor cars'.

But I still like DTM!!
