Toyota FT-1 Challenge - Forced SRF OFF - Hell Yeah!!!

Is this a one time affair ? I hope not! Being able to turn on the SRF always seemed ass-backwards to me considering Kaz philosophy and the pride he takes when someone learns to drive in Gran Turismo.

I really hope it'll be like this for all events from now. 👍

It's forced off now? Well that's no good either! It should be on or off at the drivers discretion.

(And should have separated leaderboards, but this isn't the place I'm sure).

Forcing it off just alienates those players who like to drive with it on.

Forcing it on just annoys those players who like to drive with it off.

PD, how about giving us the option of whether we want it on or off EVERYWHERE in the game, & then give us a tickbox filter for online leaderboards. That way you'll keep everyone happy!

YOU ARE SO ALL OR NOTHING IN YOUR THINKING!!! :banghead:

You're slowly becoming one of my favorite GTP members. I like the way you think sir .

Whilst choice and two leaderboards would be ideal I think forced SRF off is much, much better than forced on. We all know it's not a real life aid and I'm pretty sure people would be better off learning to drive without it rather than constantly rely on it. It's not like there aren't enough real life aids already.

Yup, it's a driving simulator. SRF have absolutely no place in the game. I stand by my opinion - it shouldn't even exist.

Remove it from the game entirely and shortly everyone will forget about it.

Btw I believe there's not a lot of people that actually bought Gran Turismo and said "yup SRF is the way to go - feels so realistic, I like this" - imho 99.99% never use it besides seasonals and it's only to top the leader-board - those folks will use every possible advantage to be quicker - doesn't mean they enjoy it.

Driving Line, Active Steering - those are all aids that helps you learn. SRF is just plain retarded.

Like it or not, aids must remain in the game to help the newer drivers out. Bring over a friend who's never driven with a wheel and sit him down in front of your setup and see how fast he is. Some of my friends can barely keep the car on the track unless you have racing slicks on. PD cannot afford to alienate that player, his money is worth the same as my money and there has to be a way for him to enjoy the game without being a mini-Villeneuve (Gilles not Jacque:mad:).

As @VBR (aka Mr. Options) points out, the answer is always in options. Leave aids, all aids, optional and just give us a way to filter the TT's and everyone, and I mean everyone, is happy. It's a win/win/win/win.

Absolutely they need to keep the assists but other games manage just fine with replicating real world aids. I don't see the need to specifically keep SRF.

They just need to do what they did with GT5P, Standard physics or Professional physics option which is now SRF On and SRF Off respectively. Hopefully they one day bring back the leaderboards like they had in GT5P in future GT games or even current one.

Standard physics and Professional physics sounds wrong, there should be only one physics, Real life physics. SRF must completely go, it belongs to arcade games.

I don't care whether they a call it Standard Physics or SRF On, just as long as we have the option of turning it off everywhere in the game. I was so looking forward to the Goodwood Special Events, until PD decided to weld a pair of stabilizers on my adult mountain bike for me (figuratively speaking).

Thanks a lot PD for ruining The Real Driving Simulator's physics model at Goodwood. :irked:

Maybe that's why I think it should stay, I see GT6 as an arcade game, not a simulator. It's designed for casual users not hardcore sim racing. SRF is designed to make the game appeal to the widest possible audience, but as I said, so long as we can run and compete in TT's, License Tests, Offline Career etc. and filter out SRF or any and all aids from the results, I could care less what aids are in the game. The problem is, as always, PD's reluctance to build a multi-purpose game. It's always one path, one way, one direction for most things and that doesn't work in today's retail marketplace. Everything is about customization and personalization, that's the hook and GT doesn't have it.

And like it or not people play arcade games on consoles. If you want to play a real sim get a pc.

Kaz has stated that most people who play are casual gamers. If he knows this then why is he continuously ignoring all of them?

I for one have no desire to play a game that dictates how I should play the game. One of my friends who is more into GT than I am mentioned the same thing to me this weekend. Even he is able to see that Kaz's vision is not what gamers want.

A lot of people need to lighten up about SRF, or any of the assists. It's ALL fake. Every single adjustment you make simply tells the game how fast you may corner or slow down or speed up. All fake. BS, I would only change: "If you want a real sim, get a real car".

So..seems like PD found a middle ground here - the latest seasonals include one easier challenge with the SRF forced ON, one harder with SRF forced OFF and one where you can choose to enable it.

It's a nice change but I would do it like this:

Harder one - forced off like it is now.

Easier one - SRF on/off but you get a performance bonus if you don't use it.

If you want to compete for a top time, having SRF on/off being a choice might as well be SRF on because you can't compete without it.

With SRF forced on, forced off and optional, I was pleased to see the new seasonals provide something for everyone - except of course those that want everything.

the thing I don't get is ... OK so they introduce all kinds of aids to help inexperienced drivers to perform better .... but why lower the difficulty overall ! :banghead:

(Yes I heard the latest Seasonal is harder ...)

All those aids should only be available to achieve bronze ...
after that it should represent the aids available in that specific car and optional to choose by the driver ... mandatory is only necessary when you need to test a drivers ability like with GT Academy or specific license tests or Seasonal's.

On topic : SRF should go (the steering aid too)

I don't care if SRF is allowed.
I don't care if SRF is required to top the leaderboard.
I don't care how others play the game.

Just give me the option to play the way I like; with assists and silly sorcery disabled, and I'm a happy puppy.
