I'm just going to jump right in here and say; have you considered the price of insurance for a car like that?
If you have - fastest and best - are the turbocharged ones.
All of the Mark IV have the same 2JZ-GE engine (non-turbo), so I'd say buy the youngest one/one with low mileage because they are pretty much the same; it'll be more reliable.
Auto or Manual? If you really want a sports car, get the manual - otherwise you might aswell buy a GS300/Aristo. However it does feel good to just cruise in the car. It's very tame - take both for a test drive.
If you are questioning my opinion/expertise (even though it's not great) I'm just giving you it on a personal level. My father has owned quite a few GS300's and also a 1994 L Reg Supra TT (stock of course).
