Toyota to pull out of F1?

Oh God, now there is no reason for me to watch F1 anymore. I only watched F1 because I wanted to see the team that I have been supporting ever since I was astonished by the ever so beautifully GT-One racing on the La Sarthe, do well. In 2005 they were so damn close, but lost it during the second half. This year, it seemed they were at it again but the same happened. They must feel gutted about withdrawing after they spent so much money in this sport, and not scoring even a single win.

I also guess this is why everybody thought Glock would race for Renault. I guess Glock saw it coming, therefore all the news he officialy released was never revealing about him and his drive for Toyota. I'm 100% sure Trulli already has his seat reserved at Lotus, but I really want to see an upcoming future for Toyota's other two drivers, because neither of them deserve to get left out already.

Now for some questions; Will we see Toyota active in other sports? Other from motorsports in Japan, I don't think Toyota is so active? I'd really like to see Toyota rebuild their Le Mans project, leaving the sport already after '99 was a mistake.

I Hope they would do that and a Le Mans project is a lot cheaper than F1 i guess.

I'd actually like to see Toyota back in rally to be honest. Their Le Mans cars were nice and all that, but they had more success in WRC.

Wouldn't hurt for them to look into getting a touring car too? At least to sell to privateers.

WRC would be nice, they always kicked butt at that sport as well, not to mention the Celicas were just stunning, but didn't they have DTM plans as well at some point?

Sure it's sad to lose one more team, but if they drop F1 in favor of Le Mans (which is uncertain as of now) I'd be more than enthusiastic.

Wait a minute, Toyota is in Le Mans?
By the way, i am crying my butt off.
Wait a minute, isn't there 2 Toyota F1 teams?

It's a shame that they leave F1... But I'm pretty sure that Kobayashi can get a seat next year easily. The question now is where would Glock to go to?? This indeed has open the door for Sauber but as stated that FIA wanted to look at Toyota first. I think in this dying moment nobody is intended to buy Toyota instead of just completely shut down the team.

It really is a shame!! F1 is getting worse from time to time. I have a feeling that Renault is not hesitate to leave F1 because of this but I think McLaren could still hang on here so as Ferrari. No suprises if really Renault leave. So this is a sign that F1 would turn into an Indies team battle rather than a constructor battle. I also so think that Toyota should just supply engine if they don't want to be in this sport aymore but they took the same step as BMW to leave it completely. So now Sauber has been bought by Qadbak and the team now can be run by the crews from their existing team. They can get into the sport if Toyota really out of F1.

EDIT : Agreed!! If they're out of F1, they should be back to WRC!!

The Toyota Matrix or the Matrix. But wait, we still have F1 Williams in don't we? Thats still Toyota!

Why not hand over Toyota to Joe Gibbs, besides the fact that he is a successful Nascar team owner, he is also a successful Football coach, and he has a good AMA Supercross team, if you ask me 3 extremes right there, he could be good, and then he could get two great, young, American drivers in the cars, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano

No, they're simply reflecting on the fact that Toyota shouldn't have eliminated their Le Mans program after '99. There is only one Toyota team - I think you're confusing that with the fact that Williams uses Toyota engines.

Yeah but M5, what car would they use for the WRC?

Possibly the next generation Corolla coupe/Celica replacement - The FT-86. I've heard rumors around this, not to mention Subaru (who have a wealth of rally experience) and Toyota are sharing parts for this next car.

It has to be a car that is currently in production, and that is a part of Toyota's current line-up. The Celica is not an option since it's not a part of the line-up anymore. The Avensis is too heavy and too large, so I'm pretty sure they would enter the Auris hatchback.

Man, yea, and i really was impressed by kobayashi. I hope someone would pick him up for next year. Toyota has been rather dissapointing, given the money they put in. Personally, i think their poor choice of drivers not wanting to participate in any kind of development played a role, and they just kept signing them on and on... When the global economy went bad, that qualified Toyota's exit as a double whammy...

BTW, im new here.

Wow, that's like a car ready to race in November... I think USF1 has the best shot at being the chassis seeing as other teams already have contracts with other chassis manufacturers if I'm not mistaken...

If they bought the TF110 chassis they would be even more in trouble - they would have to redesign it to accept a Cosworth engine, something thats unnecessary if they are already designing their own car.
Why put back your project extra months just to use someone's design?

At the very most, the other teams will have a look at this and copy some ideas but no one will use the full thing. Maybe Stefan will though. :dunce:

If USF1 were going to buy a chassis, they would have bought Lola's earlier this year.

I'm only going by what has been mentioned over at formula1.com. I wouldn't be surprised myself of a team heavily bases their car on this one. One of the new teams come to mind. After all, we haven't seen much of the progress the new teams have made so far, except for Lotus, so personally I don't know where everyone is positioned at when it comes to a chassis for the '10 season.

The new teams should be far too into their development cycles now to design an identical car, all they could do is take some ideas and refine whatever they've got already.
At this particular moment, the teams should be finalising their designs and performing crash tests and producing carbon fibre parts. We have already seen carbon fibre parts produced at Lotus as well as windtunnel designs. According to Senna, Campos are at a point of producing parts too (he's mentioned having seat fittings, etc). They've also performed crash tests, I think they were the first new team to do so. Manor are a constant unknown but we did know they were only using CFD and no windtunnel. USF1 have shown some designs and their factory, though not much work, but I think it would be fair to assume they are at the same point as Campos, Manor and Lotus.

So, no one will use the full design, as all the teams should already have their 2010 designs produced by now. Or at least thats my understanding from what we briefly see and hear.

Yeah, I think it's already too late to sell this; all teams should be ready for testing by now. I heard even Epsilon Euskadi without a guaranteed entry already had a chassis designed and supposedly is also looking to sell.

They were asked about whether they could make an eleventh-hour play for a thirteenth grid position if any more teams withdrew. They said they couldn't, as the project had been shelved for two months and it would be too late to re-start; they'd never make the grid. They didn't, however, rule out acquirng the remains of a withdrawn team and finishing their work.

Sauber is almost 100% guaranteed to get Toyota's entry, though. And even if they were to open up more gridslots to accommodate Epsilon, it won't happen any time soon, meanwhile Toyota's car is shelved and they're back in the same position as they were with their own project.

Sauber? As in the same team that left after '05? That would be sweet, I've always been a Sauber fan, especially if they return with those liveries :p

Hmm, that would require Red Bull, Petronas and Credit Suisse to sponsor them.

Why not the dotted livery?

I badly want a black F1 car again.
