Something tells me that even if Suzuka is replaed by Fuji, it won't last long. The new Fuji really is a total cess-pit of a track, possibly even worse than the track in Shanghai. That and I doubt the races will turn into much more than a recreation of the Bonneville Salt runs: The car with the highest top speed will win by a mile. Imagine what would happen if anyone hit something on that straight? :scared:

The new fuji has some nice spots, but i dont like the chicanes there. I dont think it would be so bad to have a japanese and a asian gp. It is a pretty big market they could make good money. I just dont want to see suzuka go. That is a great track.

that jordan looks pretty good. I thought it was a minardi at first though before i saw the rear wing.

Or the teams will do as they do at Indy: ignore the straight, and set the car up to be fast around the twisty bits

Doesn't seem to be that many twisty bits to set up for:

And Fuji has a considerably longer straight than Indianapolis anyways:
3300 ft straight for Indianapolis (not subtracting amount the early turn the F1 cars use takes out of the track).
vs.
1,475 m for Fuji (or about 4720 ft long).

Monza isn’t always won by the fastest car… So that logic is retarded.

Monza also has multiple chicanes on it, and is a more technical track in general than Fuji is even with the GP extra turn added to it. Besides, think of all of the car accidents that will happen at the end of the straightaway because of drivers locking up their brakes.

I doubt it – there’s a very technical section at the back of the circuit. The teams couldn’t afford to be too slow through there. Ditto the 100R corner.

Oh yeah, I forgot, these people can’t drive and the engineers can’t setup a car to cope with such heavy braking. *cough* Monza *cough*

Okay, I agree on the 100R, but where is this other technical section.

True, but I'm guessing they will be going considerably faster than they do at Monza. The first lap of the race is likel to be a massacre.

The Lesmos through the Ascari curves is a technical section where grip is a must.

Probably not. From the first apex of the Paribolica to the chicane is 1.1 miles. The cars hit this apex at about 100 mph, and accelerate to 225-230 mph before getting on the brakes. The main straight at Fuji is slightly shorter, and is fed by a slow speed corner. Part of it is downhill, so the top speeds at Fuji would probably be about the same as at Monza.

If their success from last year carries over, they'll be in good contention for wins.

or they go to DTM

DTM wont exist that long (sadly). It was a close call for that series for the ´06 season as rules state that atleast 3 manufacturers has to compete, and Audi signed in at the last minute. I´m guessing Audi will be out by ´07, to start competing in F1 by ´08. The 2 factory supported years for the R10 will also have passed by then, so I believe that F1 is true possibility for Audi by ´08.

Edit: Another factor is that ´07 will most likely be the last season for Renault in F1.
