Greetings all.

I'm going on a driving experience day in April down at the Grampian Transport Museum in Aberdeenshire (link here) as a very late birthday present, where I will get the chance to drive a small selection of supercars on the small track there.

I will be starting out in a Lotus Elise, which is compulsory, before choosing 2 others from the line up. My second choice will be the Audi R8, an obvious choice as it's my favourite supercar.

But I don't know whether to choose between a Ferrari F430, Porsche 997 GT3 or a Nissan GT-R R35 as my final car choice for the day.

This is where you guys here at GTP can help me. Vote in the poll and the most popular choice will be the final car I will get to drive at my first supercar driving day.

Thank you and have a nice day.

EDIT: There is no guarantee that the specific cars I mentioned will actually be there and it may simply come down down to what I fancy when the time comes, but I will still take the results from the poll into consideration.

Well, the GTR is a Nissan, the Porsche is a VW and the Ferrari is? Exactly. :p

And besides, which manufacturer would you love to brag about driving?

The GTR is nice, but in my opinion, very easy to drive, not much of a challenge, after the elise and the R8, I think it may be a bit of a bore. It's a tough choice between the Ferrari and Porsche, but given the choice, I'd personally want to try the Porsche (I've not yet driven one of those!).

Good luck and hope you have a blast!!

Either the F430 or the GT3, the R35 is too computerized.
I'd personally go for the Ferrari, because Ferrari.

I've never driven in either of those, been a passenger in a GTR and the other two I've seen live, from my experiences I would go with Ferrari since it's just something more special, it's more of an occasion to drive it with it being mid engined and sounding like heaven.
On the other hand If I were looking to own one of those the F-car would probably be discarded unless I were super-rich and didn't plan on driving it much
Well, the GTR is a Nissan, the Porsche is a VW and the Ferrari is? A Fiat. :p

And besides, which manufacturer would you love to brag about driving?
Fixed :sly:

No matter what I end up choosing, each car will be something different to drive. The F430 and GT-R would be my first time driving a car with a paddle shift gearbox meaning the GT3 would be a bit easier to get used to since I've only been driving a manual. I like a challenge but you never know. :sly:

I've also been a passenger in a 996 Carrera Cabriolet so the 997 GT3 would be my chance to get in the driver's seat. The Ferrari would be fulfilling a dream like every petrolhead out there wants to do and the GT-R would give me a chance to understand what all the computers can do behind that million button interface.

We'll see what happens when the time draws nearer.

As much as I want to say the Porsche, you should choose the Ferrari.
"Yeah, I have driven a Ferrari..."
Don't go the GTR. You will have already driven 4WD Supercar why not try a RWD?

The Ferrari or the Porsche. The Ferrari would probably be a bit more exciting to drive, but if the Porsche has a proper gearbox and the Ferrari doesn't then that factor is mitigated. Go with whichever one you want, but the Nissan probably won't be as exciting as the other two.

Tough decision between the GT3 and the F430, went for the Ferrari.

I would only use the GTR if they're going to let you drag race between the corners and it's not often you get to do that at events like this so probably the GT3

The Ferrari or Porsche wouldn't be my first choice because the GT-R, although it is a vey well equipped saloon, is faster than the other 2 around a track, as well as it being more comfortable. However, I suppose when people ask you what you drove, a Ferrari would sound better than a Nissan. I wouldn't go for the Porsche though.

Ferrari. No question. Plenty of people have driven porsches, how many people have ever driven a Ferrari?

One more week until my track day on April 7th. :) Keep those votes coming in, it's looking close between Ferrari and Porsche. 👍

Hand picked :D:

Porsche is pure and has a manual gearbox. The Nissan is one big computer, which you can switch off ofcourse but I think it is not as pure as the Porsche.

The Ferrari probably doesn't have a manual gearbox which makes it less interesting to drive on a track.

Go for the Porsche, I would. :D

The thing about the GT-R is, it's the kind of car you'd want to own and drive every day. However it's really not the car you'd want to drive for a single day (Or in this case even less)

The Ferrari.. I dunno, it's a 430. I personally dislike it because it's ugly and.. I don't know it just never seemed that inspiring to drive judging from all the journalists that have driven it, especially once compared to the 458 (I haven't driven a Ferrari and don't have any desire to, so take that for what it's worth)

The GT3 is absolutely my vote, it's so centred around track use that in my eyes it would be foolish to choose anything else. It's unique to drive (Like any Porsche is) and will feel so very different from the R8, giving you a more varied and thus more enjoyable experience.

No matter what you choose, have fun!

Update on the line-up for the supercars. The GT-R has been apparently been taken off the line-up according to the website and replaced by the Aston Martin Vantage, which will make my final choice even harder :scared:.

That makes the GT-R in the poll practically null and void, so I apologise to those who voted for it. I shall reiterate that there is no guarantee these specfic cars will actually be at my track day.

Coin flip between Porsche and F430. Porsche GT3 a lot more fun on track and manual gearbox obviously, but the sound and experience of an F car is something else. I'd prob go with F430.

Edit, is the R8 paddle or 6 speed manual?

I drove a Gallardo and Ferrari 360 F1 about a month ago, and it was night and day as to which one i prefered. The Lamborghini, because it was manual. The 360 was a paddleshift, and i was almost bored driving it - just didn't feel as involved.

So i'd recommend the Porsche, as (i think) its more of a race car than the F430 is. The Ferrari is more like a road race car. And the Porsche may be lighter too, which should mean its nimbler.
