I wanted to start this thread to dicuss all the scenery on the trracks. My question is: What's that Glass thing on Tokyo?? It's on the left right after the second turn. Is it really in Toyko in real life??

Sice the Tokyo track is not modelled after real-life, I doubt that that structure actually exists, can't say for sure though ...

the structure is real just like the track, because a DVD was released showing the creator of GT drving thorugh TOKYO R246!!!

Yep that's a real track my friend.....

And the Glass is most likely a Screen infront of the crowd to stop em gettin onto the track and being ran over...:gcar:

:tree:I think the Deep Forest Raceway is way realistic with the sun shining on to the track through the trees...:tree2:

The Sunset on Laguna Seca is also Stunning :sun:

Which Scenery does everyone else like?

Nice thread dude........later

My favorite is the straight on Trial Mountain after the 3rd tunnel. I love the light coming through the trees and the reflections on the cars from it are awesome.

While on this subject. What is everyone's favorite part of each track. Like a certain turn or something.

I like the Corkscrew at Laguna and The tunnels of Trial Mountain

I gotta say that I love the first climb at Monaco towards Casino square, with the sun shining in your face, and for that matter the scenery of the entire Monaco track.

Well, I think most people love the corkscrew at Laguna, as do I. I also quite like the S-bend sequence not long after the start at Apricot Hill.

Have you come down the hill there going the wrong way and seen how the whole town is rendered - it's not just a backdrop?

My favourite corner in all of the GT series is the desperately fast left hander onto the main straight of Deep Forest - who of us hasn't finished up facing backwards in the pit lane there? I love that circuit...

Monaco is an incredible view; and you appreciate it more if you've ever been there.

Seattle is also incredible because I started doing Seattle races in GT2 right after a trip there, and I identified the parking garage I put my rent-a-car in, which freaked me out. Also you can see Safeco field and the train tracks that make so much noise at Mariners games in GT3.

Heheheh, you guys spend too much time looking around and not enough concentrating on the back bumper of the car in front of you.
I hardly notice any of the scenery. In fact if I run one of the reversed courses, I'm usually like "Holy crap! I didn't know that was there!"
With one exception - the lighted Ferris Wheel on SS11 is really cool. And I do like the afternoon light throught the trees on the uphill straight after the tunnel on Deep Forest. That's pretty cool. I aslo love the echo-y sound as you go through the tunnels.

Oh man, you don't know what you're missing... if you've ever broken out of a track, then you'd definetly appreciate the scenery! :D

Are there places you can get off the track? Hit me up with some please! I've always been rejected any time I tried.

Okay, I'm not sure where (or if it's possible) on Tokyo, but I know where to do it on Monaco:

(BTW: Before I continue, the problem might be that you don't have a fast enough car... for this to work, you need to be able to reach 120 mph in the short time that you have, which usually means you can only use a modded LeMans prototype car or an F1)

Anyway, that aside, get yourself a fast car, then head to Monaco. After going up the hill with the sun in your eyes, you make a left turn, then a quick right, where you will find a short straightway going downhill. At the bottom of this short hill, to the left, you will see a "Castrol" sign. To the left of this is a small gap where the guardrail meets the wall. This is where you can break through. Go to the top of the hill, then accelerate as fast as you can, keeping to the right. When you near the bottom, drift left and try to hit the gap right on. It'll take a while, but eventually you will be able to do it with ease. BTW, as a tip, make sure you don't hit the left wall before you hit the gap... when you hit the left wall, you will "bounce" to the right a little, and you won't be able to hit the gap perfectly. ;) Enjoy!

[edit]: And remember, you must reach 120 mph+ by the time you hit the gap... I've yet to see anyone do it with less speed.

actually most of the track are based on real life tracks but some are named something else, I think there was a thread strated on this subject, but I forgot who or where, but they are all real.

Unfortunately, most of them aren't - only Monaco and Laguna Seca are really. I don't know if the Tokyo track is an actual circuit, but the roads are really - don't know about Seattle (perhaps more inspired?) or Rome.

There was a thread on this some time ago, and the consensus was that the tracks were probably an amalgam of corners from real circuits.

Actually, there was another good thread where we speculated that the Gran Turismo tracks were too hopelessly unsafely to be made into real circuits - just think of open wheelers climbing over each other's wheels just before the bridge at Trial Mountain (shades of 'Freejack').

Ahhh...

Freejack. now that's a reference that many people won't know.
Much less remeber that Mick Jagger was in it. Some won't even know who Mick Jagger is.

Back on topic: the light through the trees in Deep forest is very nice. Too bad that PD couldn't put more scenery around Test Course. Give us something to do other than fall asleep.

There are a few parts of Cote D'azur that I drive by in each race, that I remind myself to slow down and look at. I'm likley nearing 600 laps around that course and still haven't checked it the unseen pieces. After the break out point, you've got a hairpin right, straight, Hairpin left, 90 right hander, and the then another 90 right hander. I've never seen that right hand wall section between those two 90 degree turns.

Anyone else realize they never seen a section of track? Like the opposite side of the chicane at the bottom of the hill after the tunnel at Cote D'azur?

Not exactly Anthony Hopkins or Rene Russo's finest moments...

Wow - there's a blast from the past. I actually went and saw that one in the theatres if I remember correctly.

A horrid, horrid movie!

lol

Not to say I won't go rent it if I can find it on DVD (since we were talking about it).

Back to the original subject: it's funny what you see running the reversed courses.

I ran Seattle going down the hill first. When I ran it going UP the hill, I was totally surprised to see that the course goes right past the new Mariners stadium, and you can see the King Dome too. I hadn't seen them at all going the other way.
