I forgot about this, I installed it the other day, but it didn't load. I'll try it again tonight.

Hi guys.

Can anyone please answer my question? Does TM Nations also use this copy protection driver as TM Sunrise? A colleague told me something about a driver Sunrise installs and that the driver is hardly to remove?

Trackmania Sunrise Full Version, does have the Starforce Drivers, but I do not think that Nations does, because it does not read it from a CD.

EDIT:
I think it does, because on of the exe files has 'Starforce (R)' in the properties window. :(

But you can remove the drivers by going to http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55 :)

Thanks DARRKCLOUD,

a colleague had the problem that he couldn't get rid of the starforce driver so I was a bit afraid of buying the game although I love it.

That was the reason not to buy it. I can't believe that the driver couldn't deinstalled so it's not a method I support with copy protection systems and when it won't run in my computer I can't bring it back. Thats bull****.

I'll download TM Nations anyway. Are the cars as fast as in sunrise?
 
I had a little go last night. Looks like great fun.

Creating a track will take an eternity though. I am going to get a half bottle of Jack Daniels and sit down for the night to make the awesomest track ever!

Is there any way to change the controls? I haven't been able to find that option. I would much prefer A & Z to be accelerate and brake.

This game is FAR better than the original and Sunrise !...

And you simply can't beat US$ 400.000 in prize money !.. Who's going to Paris July / August ?..

Yes, go to Profile, then Advanced settings, then Configure Driving Inputs. :)

On the Starforce front, then this is what Florent (CEO of Naedo) asid about it:

Funny indeed. Our goal is not to install this software. If we can do otherwise and have the time to do another way, we would do it. We don't seek a CD protection with starforce in TMN but mainly two protections: it is the same program as sunrise and original, this means that a version of TMN withtout protection would help to crack TMS and original (this is the same reason we have starforce in the demos) and another reason is that if people can access the program and datas more easily, they can change it more easily. There are systems in TM to prevent the cheating, but starforce is a good first step.

Be sure we would like this to be better. I think that both company, them and us, are not perfect. We have a limited amount of time to do our best. It is like windows, some problems in it (maybe more) but people need to go with this (and the developers too!)

OOoo, this looks cool. So, how does this work, model wise? I'm about to download, but i was wondering if the skins worked like LFS does - both parties need to have the skin for it to show.
 
Cool game, I downloaded it the other day but it needed a reboot and I couldn't be bothered rebooting until today. I've been playing Solo mostly and getting to know the car/tracks, but I've got a question. On one of the levels (E-1 or E-2 I think), I've got a gold medal but the rim of the medal is shown in green. What does that mean? I had a search but it's hard to find any answers about this...

When it's green it means you beat the best time by Nadeo, the company who makes the game. On another note, I'm, currently 2nd place in the U.S.A. ladder :D we should get a race going sometime with GTP guys.

No you have a locator file, what will be sent to the player when he plays a map with the model is, where it will download the skin from the download site. It also has a built in P2P client, for skin and map transfers. ;) For example, for my skin, there will be a file called Bugatti_Veyron.zip.loc and it will contain.

:), i've run it, downloaded the tmup thing, and now i'm downloading .net framework 2.0.
 
I'm having some problems. I can't find the right netframework thing anywhere. It wants an exact thing, and all i can find is the latest. So, instead, i downloaded the .zip file and dragged it over to the right folder. It appears fine in the profile menu, but everywhere else, it looks like an SL600 has been squished into the shape of the normal car you get. I think it might be the car, so i'm trying another couple of cars.
 
The Ferrari 360C is like that too. One of the Mclaren skins works sometimes...

Does anyone have ANY clue as to how the point / rank system works in TMN ?... I haven't got a single clue and need an explanation in laymans terms...
 
From what I gathered last night, you get points for placing high up in the race, but also for finishing more times. i.e. if you crash and restart the race a lot, you will not recieve as many points as you would with all clean laps.

Also, the higher rank you are over all, the less points you can recieve. I was ranked near last yesterday, so finishing 5th gave me around 40pts, where as the first place person (who i guess has a high overall ranking) got 4pts.

Ohhh... The "More laps you finish" thing is good to know as I tend to do 2 blast and don't bother unless anyone steals my 1st place...

That's what someone said when I was playing it yesterday.
 
Just trying it now with the DFP. Seems much more controllable, but you have to use it on the 200 degree mode, 900 is too much lock for this game.
