Maybe an idea to introduce a trading system istead of a thread in the forums? Will be much easier (especially for the one who updates the thread), and we can see immediately what his or her trading feedback is without searching the thread. Quite a few forums use it.

Experiencing SRK's Trading feedback forum. It would be like Ebay's system. A member would have to leave a feedback and give a rating. Though that rating will be posted on the profile. Example, SRK member Laugh. If anything went wrong and Laugh didn't deliver on his end of the trade. His information will be shown.

I'm pretty sure many people, including myself are tired of dealing with this BS for too long. Many of us are frustrated with scammers/ thieves/ users wasting others users' time. The Wall of Shame is incorporated onto this forum so that we can find information on that one person and track them down so for refunds, let users be aware of thieves, and sellers be aware of users just wasting their time. That way if everything is posted on this thread, the users of SRK will know what to deal with if a situation would arise. As for thieves and scammers, their paypal address should be shown to the public with all their information so if there is anything that needs to be resolved, it will all be listed there.

Well,
Here's the general idea.
Scammers and Thieves should have their personal addresses posted up on the thread so that users can contact them.
It should be:
Name of Scammer
Address
Contact Information
and how that person ripped the user off.
As for Time Wasters:
The user should be posted up for the type of infraction that they have done. Other than that, no personal information should be posted about them.

Well, I can say that the issue has been brought up amongst the moderators. I won't say anything more than that, because I don't know how much I can say and the issue is largely unresolved. However, I can say that I personally am not enthusiastic about the system because I seem to be the one who handles most of the complaints. We have a system of discreetly handling complaints against other members for a reason: publicly naming and shaming other forum members tends to result in an emotional backlash from the accused. In some forty reported cases of scamming that I have seen, only one person has ever actually displayed remorse for what they did. Most of the time, they either try and explain away what happened or come out swinging. If people who have been accused of ripping other off get banned, it's usually because they have been abusing people rather than because they have used the forums to instigate a fraudulent trade (the official charge). I think that a thread that names people and lists their transgressions will only cause more trouble than it's worth.

Here at GT Planet, we prefer innocent until proven guilty, rather than guilty until proven banned.

Yes, but this is about digital cars... Not actual items that are worth anything.

On a forum I am, it works pretty simple. Something like eBay, but still a bit different.

Seller posts item or buyer asks for item
Buyer and seller trade
Seller and buyer add iTrader (that's what it's called), negative neutral or positive

The iTrader rating reputation can be seen in any category, at anytime. Just look under the post count under the users avatar, and you will see (for example);

"5/1"

or, 5 positive/1 negative.

This way, GM - beginner of this thread - doesn't have to keep track of all the feedbacks. This will save GM time, but also the users won't have to showoff their feedbacks in their signature which saves space for other stuff. Plus, it will be visible at all times anyway. So why bother putting it in his or her signature in the first place?

More pro's than con's. But, you guys are the mod's. :)

Yes, but I've seen people get very upset over accusations of wrongdoing. Even if we're only taking about an intengible object being traded. You may be right in saying that the pros outnumber the cons, but I personally don't think they outweigh the cons. I think it's a poor system, one that encourages good behaviour through the fear of being publicly named as a miscreant; overall, it is very negative in the way it does things. I really couldn't care less how it works on other forums, because the other forums are not the subject here.

That said, Jordan is the person to speak to about this. I'm just a moderator; the only reason why I'm commenting on this subject to begin with it because I've somehow become the one who handles all the complaints about other forum members. I can see this system creating more problems than it fixes.

This sounds pretty much like the reputation system we used to have, which was removed a while back.

Publicly naming & shaming users is definitely not the way to go, ever, as I have only ever seen it cause dramatic situations. People tend to whine when they feel they're in the right on something.

From,
Chris.

Wel it works on pretty much every other forum, so why woulden't it here? If GM would update the thread, people would get good and bad names anyway, so what's the difference?

If the trader doesn't follow the obvious and simple trading rules, he, she or it get's negative feedback. It's their own fault. And if he, she or it trades well, well, positive feedback. The system works flawlessly on eBay, and everyone uses it. I have no idea why it woulden't work here...

Of course, the trading rating system does't JUST have to be for the GT5 cars, it can be used for numerous trades/purchases on this website.
