I've been stuck between doing the tranny trick, or just making the max speed just go to the lowest, and adjust the speed with the final gear.

I've had different results for the same car I tried these two on. Sometimes I feel the tranny trick is the best for all cars, but people beat me using the second method I listed.

Is there a difference? Should I stop doing the tranny trick?

Also when I launch, is it more efficient to launch then quickly change gear, or just let the gear do its thing?

Thanks

find the final so you get the perfect top speed when you end with the lowest final

say you want your graph speed 160. do default trans, say final is 4.300. lower your top speed. max 6th. lower final to the minimum. if the graph speed is higher then 160, default then put final at say 4.100. and repeat the process till you end with 160. i'm racing and typing so just ask if you need a clearer understanding.

Generally its about hitting the powerband just right. The tranny trick just helps make your ratios closer.

I don't use the tranny trick on all my tunes. Some of them I don't even put the top speed all the way to the left. There's alot of trial and error involved.

Sorry man I still don't understand. Can you try to explain more clearly?

Basically what hes saying is final gear all the way to the right (5.000 in most cases) then reset your top speed selector to its lowest setting (i.e. 112mph) Then move your final gear to the left from there.

Now... that being said there are some cars that it works really well for and others that it dosent. I know I used that trick for a while... but ive found unless your gears are being stubborn (I.E. you cant get 5th gear where you want it)... it really dosent change to much. Its just gives you different numbers... but sometimes it will give you the perfect set of numbers. Its all trial and error. Mostly error. Sometimes if you do it a 2nd or 3rd time... it gives you different configuration than the first time. Just another way of tuning your gears.

Thanks champ, this I can understand completely.

Yep, I really am only doing the tranny trick but instead of maxing my final first, I start with a more middle number like 3.400 instead of 5.000. That way when I lower my final down it will be at the lowest number and I will have the right top speed in the corner. It seemed to make my cars a little faster then maxing the final but that is just me. It is a little more complicated I guess and requires a little more effort, but hey to each his own.

Haha. Good ol' Hayabusa always simplifying posts to be understandable by noobs ;)

And I sometimes get better times when I put top speed to the left, and instead of going all the way up in my final gear, I set it so I can get my desired top speed without post tweaking to the "tranny trick"
