Okay, I saw the movie and I think I just got mindfreaked.

Dude. This article lays it out nicely:

Michael Bay Finally Made an Art Movie

io9.com
Women as well as men, everyone watching this film will feel the dissolution of all their certainties, all their illusory grasp on the world... but after you fall into a brazen despair that the walls of reality have become toxic ice cream of a million flavors, you will gasp with a greater realization: that once the world is reduced, forever, to a kaleidoscope of whirling shapes, you are totally free. Nothing matters, effect precedes cause, fish spawn in mid-air, and you can do whatever you want. Let yourself go in your adult diaper, Michael Bay invites you. Feel the music of total excess stir inside your deepest core. It is your Allspark, your cube. And you are a Transformer.

Mind. Blown.

Interesting note from that review/commentary as well: Transformers 2 ends up being like the Wachowski's Speed Racer... A tech demo that minfunks 'ya silly.

I can't explain how awful this movie was. It is ridiculous how a production with so much action can be so mind numbingly dull. It's randomness was laughable. I was particularly gobsmacked when a SR-71 Blackbird turned into a bearded old man robot with a broad Yorkshire accent (T'ransformer?) I'm not going to type much more as I've already wasted 2.5 hours of my life in the movie theatre. The only positive I could take away from this dross was that a lot of it was set in the daytime, which is good to see as a lot of the time these technical tour de force movies are way too dark.

I'm very disappointed that so many characters were just introduced and then zapped. How the hell do they expect to have any sort of development? You can't just cannon-fodderize transformers like that. That's not the way it works. The first mistake was with Jazz, and now it seems to be contagious. Also, the me-so-hawny college girl was a big wtf. I thought it was funny and everything, but is that really appropriate for transformers? Really? I think Bay saw that they were working on a new Terminator and said, "hey, let's give them a run for their money!" The Twins were also... strange. Like FoolKiller says-- completely unnecessary. I mean I don't really mind the voices (the movie-goers seemed to eat it up), but did they have to model the heads after a pair of monkeys? And the gold tooth? Since when do they even have teeth, especially beaver teeth!

So those are my gripes. The new kid was also kind of lame. They probably picked him because he looked like Carlos from the cartoons.

edit: Also, the US Navy has a
RAILGUN?
Lol, what?

US Navy has used/tested a rail gun already in the past. Just hasn't been perfected yet for it to be used more

They are testing a new Metal Gear in order to battle the Cybertronians on even footing. They called up Hideo Kojima as a technical director on the film and, judging from the reviews, he secretly switched in his own script.

Actually, I did not know they were so far ahead with development of the weapon. Thanks, guys.

I just hope it's not as easy to get a Captain to fire one as it was in the movie.

Yeah, that was just a "tad" unrealistic. :D

Just came back from seeing the movie again but this time in IMAX. First time experiencing IMAX as well, and i must say the sound improvement and image quality made it that much better :)...Time to wait for the blu-ray

Tried to see it Wednesday but it was sold out. Managed to get in last night despite a packed cinema.

It's a good summer movie with more than enough slo-mo, explosions and robot fights to keep you entertained. I didn't go in expecting much in the way of plot, pacing or character development so I guess that's why I enjoyed it. I mean looking back at it now, the transformers actually have more personality than the humans.

Had a lot of funny parts too, but most of the comedy was kinda stupid and more suited to a younger demographic which was odd considering the amount of cursing in the movie.

The fight with Optimus Prime in the forest was epic. Best fight scene in the movie.

Megan Fox is as hot as ever. Still can't act very well though.

The Corvette Stingray Concept was simply beautiful.

On the downside
The soundtrack was way too repetitive. Got annoying hearing a slightly different version of the same song for each scene.

Ramón Rodríguez's character, Leo Spitz, served no purpose in the movie to me.

Too many transformers. It was cool watching the fights, but when generic decepticon after generic decepticon are being destroyed I started to lose interest.

Wanted to see more of the autobots fighting too. What's the point of introducing all those new autobots if you hardly see them do anything? Most of the time they were in their car/bike/whatever form just driving around.

I thought it was incredibly lame when Sam met with the original Primes.

Overall I'd give it a 6.5/10

Saw it on Friday. The action was excellent and loaded with Transformers which was a good thing. The only part that was rediculous was the swearing. Was it really necessary to swear every other conversation? At one point they even through in the "P" word. :ill: Its not a major complaint but they went overboard with the swearing and at points it was just complete overkill. The comedy was still good and a couple parts were hilarious. Acting was a little better but who realy cares about that anyway. We want special effects, tons of explosions, epic battles, and lots of Transformers. And that is exactly what we got.

Although I never watched any of THE original Transformers cartoon...

I could have already known that a decepticon would not give his parts to an autobot.

The movie was very action packed, I'm surprised my friend fell asleep watching it though.

Bumblebee fighting Rampage was probably the best fight of all fights in the movie, hand-to-hand is so much cooler than projectiles blowing up.

I'm reading up some Transformers history, and I am shocked very little of what was in the movie have very little relationship with the original series. Most of the robots aren't their original vehicles.

I was wondering who the R8 was, it at first looked like an autobot, but then i realized it was a decepticon. Did the R8 even transform at all? Was "Sideways" even mentioned in the movie so that people like me would have at least got a name? Did Sideways even transform during the film, because I actually don't remember. My point is Bay brought in a lot of new bots, but they are barely seen even though the movie ran for 2.5 hours. The Corvette Stingray got so little time on the screen, I had to Wiki it to find out this was Sideswipe (but I still don't know who he is), did he transform either? Because I only saw this one in a alt form. Basically, for 2.5 hours, I think ALL robots should have gotten at least 15-30 minutes on the screen.

The All Spark gave Sam clues to getting to the Matrix, But wasn't the all spark just this huge cube of energy? How does that relate?

Bumblebee was one Camaro, he's now an newer Camaro? What the Heck?

Only a Prime can defeat the Fallen? All Optimus did was impale him with his own spear.

Okay so the the second installment can't end the series, but when Megatron and Starscream make a run for it after the Fallen is defeated, it was so blatantly obvious that that would foreshadow that there would be a sequel. I personally didn't like how that was done. I mean, there may be another Nolan's Batman, just look at the ending, Batman now is seen as a criminal. IMO I believe this is works better at foreshadowing a next film because there's something to think about. What's going to happen now that people had once believed in Batman, now have to watch out for anything bad he'll do. "This isn't over" is such a weak line to me.

Sure okay Jetfire's old, but seriously how cliche was his death? The old man gives his life to save another. I saw his savior act coming after he was revealed to have switched sides. On top of that How in the world did he teleport everyone? Did it make any sense that the end of the teleportation caused everyone to fly up in the air?

Some scenes I found unnecessary, and rather irrelevant to Transformers.
-Megan Fox's first appearance, leg up on the motorcycle. She could have been standing, the movie isn't to promote the women in the film, Transformers we're about the robots at war, not about some pretender robot getting sexually aggressive on Sam (though that was kinda hot).

-The teleportation scene, Mikaela on Leo's crotch. Nothing else much to say, everyone flew their own way except for them?

-Sam's temporary death scene looked like a rushed idea. The Matrix turned to dust as Sam lifts it earlier in the film, seeing the Primes in your mind recreates the Matrix? It would have make no sense because Sam did not fill up the sock with ALL the Matrix dust, so how could the primes have recreated the Matrix with it then? IMO I think the Matrix should not have turned to dust, Sam NOT being stubborn with "believing" that it will work, and that Sam had Died from that explosion. He wasn't that close to the explosion, maybe if he had passed out for a while would have worked better.

-Wheels and the Twins, talk WAY too much, the transformers were not about robots that swear and talk like an illiterate teen.

-During the Chaos going on in Egypt, the couple come to a point where they are running from a decepticon, and run up a set of stairs to a house that has no roof on it! For what reason I ask! They run up a building to expose where they are? No! They do it so that an explosion scene can be shot when they jump to the next building! I seriously thought that was stupid, I think they could have kept running beside the building not jumping from building to building, no point of it, and more decepticons would know where they are.

The couples were making their way to the NEST soldiers. As said by Sam himself, only a couple more miles to go... AFTER already running a couple of miles earlier. NOT POSSIBLE! Sam and Mikaela aren't character how run a lot, how could they suddenly run many miles in the sand?

Yeah, but ignoring most of what I hidden under spoilers, it' was pretty cool. Got the random humourous parts, explosions and that one shot of Megan Fox with her leg up on the bike :sly:, haha no... Jordana Brewster in the NSX (though she wasn't driving it) was so much better in F&F.

Hmmm... as an answer:

The AllSpark is somewhat sentient... but yes... that it gives him a riddle, written in Cybertronian, using human cultural referents, instead of just giving him the damn coordinates of the Matrix... oh... and considering the AllSpark fell centuries after the Primes died... was so unbelievable that if Bay gave you time to think about it, you'd go whu?

I think the R8 had one transformation scene. His robot mode was briefly seen in a cloud of debris.

Mikaela on the bike? Come on! This is a children's movie! Sex sells... you've got to have her butt showing to keep their interest... then you've got to show her stripping... then you've got to show her running around the desert bra-less... then...

Teleportation... they fly up in the air because supposedly they're coming from the other side of the world... so they'll fly up in the direction they were travelling through "jumpspace" or whatever Jetfire uses. Besides, having them fly up in the air is a great way for yoks!

Michael Bay: Hurr hurr! Funny script! But we don't have any crotch jokes in this part for at least fifteen minutes! Add one!

Writer: What if we have them fly in the air and Megan Fox lands on one guy's...

Hmmm... is it a lost art? Nobody else does it for the entirety of the other two movies... although it has some precedents in the cartoon.

Sam's death exposes one fatal script flaw. The Matrix "must be earned"? So how did the Fallen "earn" it? If we go by that logic, it should have crumbled to dust once he touched it!

Jordana Brewster isn't the best actress in the universe... and some critics have called her one-dimensional. But she's pretty willing to show skin for the camera... :D

niky, maybe what you mentioned about "that thing" has to do with the fact that The Fallen is an original prime and not a human.

That's some freshass security though. I wish all my possessions did that when touched by people who were thieving.

I can probably agree she may not be the best actress, sorry if i mislead you I actually meant to say that someone who's decent-looking in an NSX is hot to me. I Love the NSX.

Possible... he probably also "earned" it due to the carnage shown in the flashback...
