Since there's no General Transportation Forum, here's a link that'll show you some of the more "odd" ideas during the 1900's :-) Quite interesting - and a bit scary ;)

Transportation Oddities

haha. that's really neat

i wish i had a better internet connection i'd go through the whole website, not just the oddities...

it's funny how our thoughts keep changing... ppl keep thinking they've invented everything and new stuff just keeps comin up...

my favorite was the underground tunnel with the maglav train running in a vacuume... that would be awesome!! ( too bad it wasn't economical )

The escape pods on passenger planes look like quite a good Idea. Although they would be difficult to impliment and very expensive, I think it would work.

they are thinking about vacumming out the air in the japanese maglevs.

or something....they would have to build tube and crap around all the rails...and that would suck if there was a leak in the train itself....everyone would suffocate/their blood would fizzle up, etc.

but if they did use a vacum, then maglev speeds would be infinite, or so they said.

sorry about the bad sentence structure. lol :dunce:

Yeah, but it would be impossible to create a vacum in something that big.

...there are amphibious bus tours in downtown toronto. Those are the weirdest looking buses I've ever seen

This is cool! I had a simular idea a while back. The people using the system would have to walk against the direction of the moving sidewalks to bored the moving train. The problem is, the last sidewalk before the train would be moving very quickly and if they fell they would get slung off the end. Very dangerous, but still a neat concept. The trains wouldn't have to stop.

The Skycar has been under development for as long as I can remember, lol. Give it another 10 years and maybe it will become feasable!
