Does anyone have any tips for beating the triathlon? I have tried many times but can't beat it. I have 100% Stamina.

The swimming I always come last. The other competitors not only swim faster than me but go full speed the whole way.

The cycling I catch up again.

The running they again seem to be able to run alot longer than I can and I end up back in last place.

Help please :)

If you can't win properly, I'll admit it is very hard, just try punching the guys as they run past on the last leg of the race. I'm not sure if it actually works since my friend told me and he also says you can't shoot anyone or you will lose instantly. You can punch them as they run past though, just one hit knocks em down.
If you want to win properly just go as hard as possible during the swim and cycle legs, don't hold X, just keep tapping it. If you tap you can just keep up in the swim, utterly destroy them on the cycles and hopefully have enough of a lead to hold them off for the run. Also, take as many shortcuts as you can while riding, that helps too.
 
You know there are two, right?


In the long one (13 mins) there is a method of sorts.

Make sure you ate well before hand.
have some fat on the meter.
When the race starts, get ahead into the water and keep pushing up on the stick and tapping the button. If you let go of the stick or you hold X you will drop behind.
When you get to the cycles CONSERVE your energy.
This is done by only tapping the X button to get CJ out of his seat when you are either going uphill or when you are on a flat and he's dropping in speed. When you reach full speed CJ will stop pedalling anyway, so try to gage that speed and keep it near there all the time if you can. DONT FALL OFF!
When you reach the end of the cycle race in Las Venturas, ride right to the end of the street where it meets the strip BEFORE you get off your bike. then just run flat out all the way.
If your cj runs out of steam, you havent been conserving enough energy in the cycling part, and you can either jump in and out of cars to gain full strength back, or punch the other competitors, or lose.

On the one that starts at Santa Maria beach-- you can cut corner at the top of missionary hill (across the grass) the others will stay on the road--- I barely won that one-- I got smoked on the one that ends in LV-- according to Integra, you need to be thin (supposedly he can run faster)-- I haven't given them a try since I was going for 100%-- I assumed it was required-- the hazard of playing without a guide.
 
I though the triathalon races were a joke. I didn't have trouble with either of them. On the one that starts in Santa Maria I had my fat meter full. I came in last in the swimming then went back ahead in the cycling then happily ran my fat self up the hill with out encountering anyone else from the race. For the other one it was basically the same thing, but I wasn't all the way fat. I actually stood in front of the finish line for quite a while to see how far back the others were. I guess I just had the right stats?

When you get to the cycles CONSERVE your energy.

I think that's the most important part. Your swimming and running skills seem to be about even with the competitors, but CJ's so much faster on the bikes (if you don't crash) that you should take it easy and save your energy for the running at the end.

I also won both of these first try with full muscle & stamina, and a bit of fat.
 
What I did was sprint all the way. On the running part, CJ gets tired, so just start jumping. On the last part they always catch up but dont give up. Ive done the race a couple of times, and Ive never lost.
 
Pay attention to the "Beat the ****" glitch! If you complete a triathlon you don't be able to use all gymnasium equipment in ALL San Andreas for a unknown time.
 
The gym equipment disabled is actually a glitch that has an unknown trigger. I had it, and I haven't completed the Triathlons as of yet. I know people who have completed the Triathlons and haven't gotten this glitch.

It seems this glitch is very random, but it affects almost all. There are a number of ways to get rid of the glitch. For me, I just changed my moveset. Apparantly, changing memory card slots, or memory cards altogether has worked for some, and so has various other methods that do not come to mind at the moment.

I've read various causes for the gym glitch including--

killing everyone at the gym
saving at madd Doggs house
Starving to death
Not eating (saving to reset eating timer)
triathalon (this thread)

I don't believe any of them I think its random although I really don't know.

And to tell you the truth-- if I have it, I don't know it-- I don't go to the gym (haven't since I first started the game)-- I do all my killing with guns, and it doesn't take alot of muscle to squeeze a trigger :trouble: -- my CJ is a little skinny runt right now and he gets along just fine.

The gym glitch is due to saving the game twice in two different slots on one memory card in a very short time period.
The game loses track of what time it was when you last went, and therefore how long another "day" is before you may return to the gym to train.
Therefore when you wait a while to go back, you will find you cant.
The solution is to avoid saving in 2 slots in the first place, and therefore avoid the glitch, but if you have it, then you simply need to try and keep trying when it comes to you and you will eventually get in.
You will also need to let cj run out of fat completely, and lose some energy on his health bar due to starvation in order to access the gyms again.
A combination of starving him and waiting patiently will work everytime.
 
My CJ was still very muscular when I got it back. I simply changed move-sets. But that seems correct with your theory on what triggers it. I did have 2 save slots at one point. Nice work.

I'm loading up my game and checking right now....

I can still work out-- I also killed everyone in the gym-- left and went back in-- can still work out-- I've done about everything I've been told that causes it and still don't have it--which tells me its random.....

i had the gym glitch and all i did wsa change clothes and it worked. i changed all my clothes and that seemed to disable it.
 
There are 2,

The first one starts at Santa Maria Beach (you had to have opened up the second island) and it only starts on weekends.

The second one starts on the little beach near palomino creek (you had to have opened up the 3rd island), also only starts on weekends.

Note-- the times for these are not in your stats, and they are not required for 100%.
 
Also seansheep, it'd be much appreciated if you could start using proper spelling and grammar to the best of your abilities. I don't like to nag, but it helps with the tidiness of these forums and helps keep a good reputation. ;)

Ok-- I did a quick search and found this pic-- this is the section of Santa Maria Beach where it starts-- its west of the pier near the water. This is right after it starts but this is where the pink glowing thing will be--remember it only starts on the weekends Sat or Sun --so look at your day of the week.

The other one is on the west side of palomino creek- this is a town north of Los Santos--- there is a very small beach down there and this is where it starts--also only on saturday or sunday.

Evidently there are 2 triathalons that start from Santa Maria Beach (one on either side of the pier (I did not know this or even if its true). THe other one is where I indicated.

i dont really know what all you are on about. ive done the one at maria beach twice now and beat them both times. my muscle is on hardly anything because i have the gym glitch, and my stamina is on 100%. but i still hammerd... they beat me on the swimming but they are slow to get going on the bikes so i storm away there, and then they slowly catch up on the running but i still easyly win....
 
well i just did the second triatholon and that was a tad harder... i would of won but the bike keept sliding of the road beacuse it was raining, i managed to get onto the strip where you get of the bike and run in the lead, but they took me as they went down the strip, finished 3rd so better go and do it again. lol
 
to do the Triathlon effectively, you need to have min muscle and min fat like the real people you see running a marathon....their skinny as hell!
If you dont mind using cheats heres the skinny cheat:

Triangle, up, up, left, right, square, circle, right.

Dont worry about getting hungry, you will only loose a bit of life at a time and afterwards you can always eat!
If that cheat doesnt work, please tell me. If my technique works....please tell me.
