Trigger sensivity changed from the GT5P demo to Retail

In the Japanese demo, 25% pressure = 50% throttle; 75% pressure = full throttle.

In the full retail, Spec II, 25% pressure = 25% throttle; 50% pressure=50% throttle, and around 60% throttle/60% pressure, the throttle suddenly starts to become more sensitive, and by 75% pressure you're at full throttle.

Yeah, the end result is the same: 75% pressure = 100% throttle, but if I've explained this sufficiently, you'll understand that it's the strange changes in sensitivity throughout the range of motion that set the two versions apart.

Edit - June 1st: I'd also like to show you all the comparison video I just made, which shows how the throttle responds differently in the 3 PS3 GT games.

Coming from Forza, I tried to use the triggers when first playing GT but the fact is they just aren't designed for sim racers, you can get by since you can tune your car to minimize wheelspin and put TC on but you have much more control if you use the analogue sticks

I wouldn't blame the triggers. I wouldn't be spinning the wheels out from under the back-end if they responded linearly. I just hope they patch this eventually.

I don't know if I can get used to gas/brake on the analog stick, but it looks like that or X/Square are my only options.

And the reason I'm noticing this so long after the launch of the game is because I purchased a G25 in April and decided after a few weeks that it was just too much of an investment for me. I had a great time with it though.

i noticed the change too. i dont get why they did it ,on the demo it was smoother imo!
Its not the controller, other games i can apply any pressure 1 - 100 easily with the triggers. Guess PD did this on purpose, never had any difficulties with GT1- GT4. Again its a pitty PD programmed the 6axis/DS3 so bad 👎

Thanks for the advice, but I just can't use the stick for gas- I'm used to X for e-brake, Square/Circle for shifting and using RS left/right for looking. Using the stick for throttle would mean I'd have to commit my thumb to gas/break and my pointer fingers would have to do everything else. I did try it out though. I configured the sticks for gas/brake, with L1/R1 for shifting and R2 for e-brake, but it was like throwing a baseball with my left hand. Besides- the throttle sensitivity is just as wonky as it was with the triggers, so there's no point.

I just booted up the GT:HD demo, and, like the Prologue demo, 25% pressure = 50% throttle, and 75% pressure = 100% throttle. I much prefer this way because I've spent quite alot of time in the demos, so much that when I try to play the retail version, I'm contantly giving it full throttle unintentionally. And I'm not about to use assists.

I swear that if this isn't changed the most I will do is give GT5 a rental. And this game means quite a bit to me.

I just wish they wouldnt have made them so sensitive, whats wrong with say 90% pressure =100% throttle? I know there needs to be a dead spot but 25% is a little much. Same with the stick for steering there are a lot of times when as soon as i move it its to much input so I have to "tap" steer witch sucks.

hmm, I kinda have to disagree; not with what your saying about teh sensitivity, but more with its usage. I also made the difficult switch from x and [] to the triggers (the analogue stick didn't do it for me, plus i wanted to look around with it). I switched a week or so after getting the PAL GT5P on release and now I wouldn't want it any other way.

Cars like the 599 without any aids (that means no TC, TSM, ASM, ABS, active steering...nada) behave just like i want them to; what's more, I can regulate the acceleration with such an amount of precision during a corner and its exit that you'd think i'd be using a pedal of some kind. Same goes for the braking aspect; with this i mean that i can regulate the acceleration from 0-100 % during a corner and everything that's in between.

At least for me, all it took was a few months to perfect it, and i'm here to tell you guys it's possible. Just keep at it. same goes for the steering :)

Sounds you you adapt well to your surroundings :sly:

It's just that the throttle over-sensitivity didn't happen in GT:HD and the Japanese GT5P demo, and I don't see why it's happening in the retail copy. But I'll give myself a few hours of play to try to adjust and see how that goes.

Ive always stayed away from analogue stick for accel/brake in every racing game Ive ever played (nearly 20 years) whether console or PC but it quickly became obvious that the triggers aren't up to the job - I switched to analogue sticks, within a couple of hours I was putting in better lap times than with the triggers and not only that but not using triggers allows me to hold the controller further forward so it no longer slips out of my hands. The pressure involved in using triggers also used to mess with my steering and make the controller move about in my hands but using the sticks this problem has dissapeared.

Personally I see the trigger as a pressure sensitive button and nothing more. If you want fine control then its sticks or wheel as far as I am concerned, course if you are using TC then it wont matter so much

They might seem alien and you might crash alot, but its worth the effort to make the change.

I've been playing GT and FM since their originals. Always played GT with the stick, and FM with triggers. This time I'm using my FM controller layout for GT, the triggers are stupid sensitive. I can't brake without locking up like I could in FM, also can't launch a rwd car without smoking tires at some point. It is a bit irritating that you are giving your car 25% throttle and the tach is banging off the rev limiter like your flooring it. I did love that about FM2, you were not flooring it until you depressed the trigger ALL the way. No cheesy bouncing off the rev limiter at idlej/k. I have dealt with this issue by up shifting early, and just taking it really easy in RWD and MR cars around the corners. GT has gotten soo much better looking, is it to much to ask for the gameplay problems that have been there since GT1 to actually have some effort be put into fixing them?
