I adore the Hyundai and Spa combo, though my driving joy will not translate to pace:P The voice of my bad driving habits is sitting on my shoulder shouting at the hint of an apex: "Full power to the warp drive! Go, GO!"

And then I dump the power too early and hyper crab walk well past the corner and off the track. AWD Bliss!!

Welp the Hyundai VGT is easier to drive that I remembered, but those track limits🤨🤨
After this and Fuji, I will see bollards in my dreams. And they will boop me.

I'm on the board at Fuji. Might go back there later, depending on how the electric car goes.

I was a little disappointed when my time was knocked back to 5th when I woke up, but then I realised the 3 Spaniards ahead of me all used ASM, 🤢. Danny will always hide his replay If he hits the lead but he probably has it on too, high chance anyway.
I thought that was supposed to slow you down.

Sorry, but this sounds petty.

Why is it relevant at the fastest levels (or any level, for that matter) what "allowable" assists a person used when looking at their time? Your 5th, which is great. Why try and taint the times of those above you.

There there is no other reason to bring up the assists other than to imply that at a "pure" level, their time is not as legit as yours.

I think that’s not what was being implied, more recognising that even the fastest guys in the world (one of which is a world tour finalist) benefit more at the very very very sharp end of speed and control than the rest of us.

99% of us could switch on all the aids and a large majority wouldn’t get close to the top times.

As with all things there is a discussion to be had on wether there should be a filter for the leaderboard for a whole bunch of things, like wheel users, VR users, assist users etc

Specifically to CSA and ASM these assists actively control the car beyond the base aids of TC and BB the latter 2 come down to feel and fidelity with how they operate the former 2 are systems which actively brake and add steering input.

There is no judgement from me on who uses what, I can only drive my car with my stuff and my level of skill.

It’s very interesting that in the last round of the GTWS (or the one before?) CSA was not allowed to be used and disabled.

I agree that when people usually discuss assists it is not in a a judgemental way. For example, your discussion is just that - non-judgemental. I just found the statement I commented on rather odd. Sort of "I was disappointed that they passed me until I saw they had assists." If that does not imply that he/she does not see the times as really valid, I am not sure what does.

My take is people should use whatever legal combos give them the fastest times, and they only thing the rest of us should care about is what we might learn from a fast player or players deciding to use a particular assist that normally slows times, but instead (in a particular car/track combo) is actually assisting with faster times.

I’d be personally annoyed if on ability alone I could go the fastest in the world and then my fellow peers are able to beat me using arbitrary in game Blackbox assists. But that’s because I’m human and competitive.

The assists are there to be used but because we specifically don’t know how much those assists interfere it’s hard to know how fast those people are without them, clearly they weren’t p1 until using them.

There is a broader thing here about what the playing field should be in PVP environments but that is a wider topic.

What I will say is there is more kudos for anyone that can over achieve themselves without the game helping, it shows mastery and is unequivocal, when you start letting the game drive your car this gets a lot less definitive.

This isn’t the thread for a wider debate on assists, this is a thread to celebrate, encourage everyone to drive better however they need to.

Morning folks,

I gave it another shot..... found more than half a second 🤣
53's should be more than doable but I realy hate the combo..
It just absolutely has NO oversteer... and understeers if you even think of throttle...

it's just pick the apex.... wait ....wait......wait..... full send out.

The other thing I hate is the width , I only drive bumpercam, this thing already eats bollards when you are in the middle of the track 🤣

But this should hold during my vacation 😁

Didn't try the ASM thing, I'm not hammering this one so I probably won't notice the difference anyway 🤣

Ooh and @djolliea .... I don't like you anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏🙏

Managed to hit 1:52 in the hoover today so that's probably it for this one. Don't mind the car, just can't handle any more bollards.

The boy has a 1:53.2 so not far behind. Having a single gear has levelled things.

Wonder if he will beat me at GT7 or GT8..?

In VR the bollards aren’t that much of a thing after a few laps, it’s the weird acceleration points, I just don’t have the confidence to nail it (smoothly)

Also your lad is faster than most of us, so he will surpass you in time!!!

The car actually sounds pretty amazing at high speed, on my audio setup at least. Driving wise the understeer feels kinda unpredictable. Maybe I'm not smooth enough. Hopefully 1:54.7 is enough for gold. Took me a while to get that time actually.
