The deleted my account...no reason given. Nothing much to download, only pics and drawings I've taken...it's not terribly popular, I've neve done anything discouraging to Tripod...I don't get it. My site's been around for over 5 years, and there's nobody to contact if they made a mistake.

I sent them an email address to contact me (I had to report my own site to get any attention to it, sadly). I hope it worked.

So if you have a site with Tripod, go find another host.
 
I'm so lucky to have my site hosted where it is. It's inside another site which, if mentioned here would violate the by-laws. But because of that, it's free, with no ads, and very reliable.

I've noticed visiting some sites I've found around GTP that some of these places pop up like five ads the second you get there.
 
That's Tripod all right. I didn't expect much from a free host. But I didn't expect to have my site taken away with no reason given.

Seriously, I can't think of a violation (no swearing, no porn, no warez, no mp3s, no slander, everything is my creation on the site...) that caused it to be locked.

That's exactly why I use AnalogX.com's free pop up killer POW!. It works wonders. I really hate that though, if a site does that you have to waste your time to close those windows, thus not letting you view the site from the get go.
 
I figured those that care about surfing the web in peace will have a pop-up killer. The rest simply don't care.

Boy, I miss www.redrival.com right about now. They were the best for mirroring my site (No ads, 20MB, 98% uptime, absolutely free...you can guess what happened in a few years!)

[edit: they're back...I just signed up again, I'm sure the ads are still there, though...]
 
There's crosswinds and netfirms. Crosswinds puts up 1 popup per page or frame, netfirms does 1 banner per page/frame. If you have a popup killer, Crosswinds doesn't get annoying, and even so, 1 popup won't kill you...

FTP, PHP4 and other stuff for free, the only down side is a popup that gets main window focus after 5 seconds so all you have to do is make sure your site is main focus 100% of the time and the popup will stay behind the window! - Find some HTML jimbo that will do that.

That gets really annoying. I'me one of those people who likes to have many small files. I have a navbar .js script, .js tag scripts for the bottom of my pages, etc. It's a lot easier to edit than to go through every individual page to add or fix a link.

It used to ahve only an exit ad, but the 404 ads stop paying.

Still its a good deal, unlimited space/bandwidth, and php. he even gave out some free mysql databases and domain names
 
Well, they finally put my site back up...Yea! Fortunately, they didn't delete anything.

I stuck it out with Tripod all this time because they allowed FTP; the file manager stuff is quite annoying...moving, renaming, deleting files...it just takes so darn long.

I have never violated the terms of my agreement in the 5+ years I have had a website hosted with Tripod. I was not informed of my site removal, and no reason has been given.

I demand an answer, and I'd like my site available again within 24 hours.
