Disney has made no official confirmation that there will be a sequel to Tron: Legacy, but it is implied based on some of the additional content that is on the Blu-Ray that was just released. The official line of business is that they are going to focus on the new animated series (on Disney XD), and then probably do a film.

Disney wants a franchise, but with the so-so returns of Legacy, they're not confident enough to produce a fully-funded sequel.

I hope there will be a sequel I really enjoyed the film. Bought it on blu-ray too it was worth it. I think they were looking to see how well the film sells on blu-ray before going ahead with any sequel

Google Tr3n for more info about a sequel.
I think it will be made. The fan base is there. The movie didn't had a bad reception. And a lot will be made with mercandise and the Dvd/BR's.
Also the first Tron was a real flop.
Just hope it doesn't take another 20 years for a sequel

I also bought the film on bluray 3d.
I liked it.

Re-watched last night ... immediately after re-watching (for the first time in almost 30 years) the original TRON. Didn't change my first evaluation: I like TRON: Legacy 👍 and my favorite character remains TRON, love seeing him "go white" in the water. Can programs drown? LOL I think not and I'm hoping TRON to make a fabulous comeback in TR3N ;)

I have to say, it was great seeing Bruce Boxleitner reprise his role as Tron, since I'm a huge Babylon 5 fan, but again, seriously? Maybe if I'd seen it 3D in the theatre I could give it a 7 or 8 out of ten, but the story was so weak, it was all effects, totally shallow characters, maybe I expect too much, but as a DVD I could only give it a 5 or 6 out of 10...

The movie isn't really about the story which admittedly is nothing special. Given the original Tron though it would be hard to really make it in depth.

The audio/video is where this movie shines. 3d or not the main thing you need is some good quality surround sound and large crystal clear tv while it plays on blu ray. Without that you really can't enjoy it.

Anyone notice how the BBC has used some TRON: Legacy music for some of it's features? Turkish Grand Prix Pre-Race and the latest Top Gear U.K. Episode :D

Definitely have. Also was funny to hear the music playing in a supermarket about a month ago.

I hear the OST everywere.
There is a parfume add with megan Fox. Strongly if not entierly copied.
Really here it a lot in documentaries,...

Love the soundtrack. Bought it directly after watching the movie. One of the best OST's ever (Matrix was good too) because all the songs are top. The standard disk missed journey thou

Also rewatched it in 3D a few days ago, and came to this conclusion (strictly personal):
Tron is still alive, that's kind of obvious (Tron 3 without Tron would be more than lame, and also his lights went back on in the sea), but I think Flynn could also still be alive as Sam got his Fathers masterdisk and he could restore his father. No? Even Windows can be restored!

I'm sure Tron can still be in the third one I think everything CLU and Kevin Flynn created were wiped out but I remember them saying that he 'brought' Tron over the last system.

I noticed the music too especially in Top Gear sounds weird hearing it with anything other than Tron scenes  Great soundtrack though

Tron was in the water. After everything was wiped out the water still remained.

Hmmm very true, there goes my theory :dunce:

This is Hollywood. They'll make up whatever excuse they want, no matter little sense it makes. In fact, they are likely to go with the most nonsensical explanation possible.

Not completely on topic, but not completely off topic either, considering the last part of the thread's title ...

... 80's geeks rejoice!!!

I found out about this a couple of days ago, it was sad. I grew up on TRON and when Legacy came out I loved it, even if it wasn't the best of stories or anything. It was just so typically Tron and I was looking forward to seeing Bruce Boxleitner take up the role of Tron for what could possibly have been the final time. That I really really want to see! I think if the day comes when Bruce cannot be in Tron then that is the day Tron is finished in a sense. (If I remember correctly he has been Tron in anything that has had Tron feature in it)

That's literally the opposite of sad news. The second TRON film was atrodreadappallawciousfulingful - and I don't just mean the jiggery-pokery they used for CLU's face.

Well, there's an old popular saying here in Portugal that in literal translation to English would be written approximately like this: "taste is undebatable"

I say this because I think TRON:Legacy is a fantastic movie. At a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious level of fantasticness.
