Trophy AI Issues or "Come on Eutechnyx, you can do better than that"

OK. We all love this game, we understand it's downs and we're full of sympathy for them, as much as we praise it's ups. But, the goddamn AI-behavior in 3+ stars trophy races is just DISGRACEFUL.

Come on, what is the script for their behavior?

10. The (PLAYER 1) is overtaking (you) = yes / no.

20. If (yes), then = attempt to brake in the middle of the straight without any reason = success / failure.

30. If (failure), then = lean to (PLAYER 1) car and try to stay IN his car with your car until you both reach the first chicane.

40. Also, if there is another AI car in front, then that car = line 20.

50. In before chicane, stay IN (PLAYER 1) car and try to kill him by running him off the track = success / failure.

60. If (failure) then stick your car in (PLAYER 1) car rear and stay there until next chicane with constantly bashing him.

70. Also, if there is another AI car in front, then that car = line 20.

80. Before the next chicane, ATTEMPT HOMICIDE on (PLAYER 1) = success / failure.

90. If (failure) then run this script for AI car in front of (Player 1) car.

100. RUN

Eutechnyx, the AI behavior in Trophy level races is DISGRACE for you as programmers and for this fine game. I see no point in making AI acting like bunch of idiots with severe homicidal tendencies. I thought racing-games left that praxis with Project Gotham Racing 2 game in 2002.

You really need to fix that, because it's shameful for your whole effort in AI depot - stop AI cars in leaning to our car, in braking in the middle of the straights without any reason and in attempting to kill us with any mean necessary.

You had better AI scripts in your respectful LeMans 24 Hours game for PSone, and that was 10 years ago, with system that had 2MB of RAM.


For greatest example of stated above, just take a F50 for a spin in first race of F50 Trophy on Silverstone. There is NO WAY you can place yourself better than 5th position, and that's after you also behave like a homicidal idiot to AI cars. It's totally stupid, especially if you take into concern that you have to make a good placement in the first race in order to finish the whole Trophy in the first place. And with AI acting like this, in order to finish 1st overall I have to make additional homicidal maneuvers in other 2 races so I can "kill" cars that were in 1st and 2nd place after the fist race so I can get amount of points that I need.

FIX IT, YOU CAN DO IT.

I drive with G25, all aids off and I want to have fun with this game and to have feeling of challenge. With AI like this, only feelings I have are disappointment and disgrace. And Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli does not deserve any of those.
 
its easy once you get used to the AI tricks, try to outsmart them IT IS POSSIBLE!.
you will beat them, just practice.:sly:

First, Trophy races has no scalable AI - it's just "Trophy" AI difficulty. So, no solution there Merk.

And, Aus, there is no way to OUTSMART them, because they are not smart. I'm not ranting against the AI in lower level races, my main point is the way that AI behaves in 3+ stars Trophy races, for example above take a F50 for a spin at Silverstone.

Also notice that my rant is based only in the fact that I do not want to drive Wipeout or Burnout with this game - if I wanted to do that, I'd play that games. And leave the practice out of equation, practice has nothing to do with it.
 
Hmm I have been in races and it's all gone psychotic LOL can be akin to being in a pinball machine! But theres a reason for it, and yes a problem too. The AI at the higher levels is extremley agresive in defending it's position, braking hugely early on bends, blocking inside lines on turns and going really slow round them in the process, moveing off line to break a tow 2 or 3 times, and coming off line to block an overtaking manouver. all can be anticipated to a point. The problem really occures when you touch. your then fair game to be leaned on! which seems fair but the problem comes in the fact it wont "return the favour" to the same extent that yo bumped him......nope your marked for the rest of the race and for some reason they don't get a penalty for the amount of contact they make on you which if the situation was reversed would see you getting penalties left and right! LOL
So the solution? anticipate there defencive driving, and when this dosn't work get round them and away from them ASAP! They do drive agresively but only when you trip over them. Dose this spoil the game? Nope, it can make things frustrating at times but I'd rather have the AI like it is than like any other racing game I've played where there "dumbed" down.

You are right at this point amar212, but you can win this race by just going to Options set the A.I. difficulty to Beginner. Remember that you need the last patch to do this.
Once you have won the first F50 race at Silverstone just go again to the Options a set the A.I. Difficulty back to Dynamic.
To Exit a Trophy with the last race saved just select EXIT at the Finish Race Points screen.
I have done this for this exact same Trophy and for the F40 Trophy too.

Merk, I do not want to race the races in begginer. I can cope the times of 2:00 on Silverstone with no problem for all 6 laps, but the main issues is leaning of the AI cars on my car and their homicide tactics when I'm in front of them on Club and Abbey in particular.

I want that AI gets the propper treatment in Pro and Trophy difficulty, AKA to make them NOT lean on my car when overtaking them on straight (I have nothing against blocking, but once I'm passed, I want that car to KNOW I passed it and to MOVE AWAY from my chasis) or try to kill me with its moves prior to low-speed turns.

It will be more then enough for nice and chalenging racing, thank you. And please, sustain from patronizing me since this subject is very valid and I wouldn't post it if I didn't waste enourmous amounts of my time in anlizing the inputs and outpusts of AI in those particular races.
 
Believe me that Race is impossible to Win with the Dynamic A.I. difficulty my best is 3º place driving as a Ace.
As like you I didn't wont to change the A.I. setup, but was forced to set it to Expert and Won the Race. Because I wanted the Max points.

Still I won the Trophy both ways.
 
AI drive me crazy most of the times. To earn maximum points sometimes I have to push to cars out of the track then they lost some points and I reach to gold trophy. Starting to a race from last place isnt fair either. I always wonder who was the beta testers of this game? I know if I were one of them this game could be much better. There are some serious problems that you cant say you dont see them.
 
I haven't had the AI leaning into me, but I did witness it during a quick race at SPA yesterday. It was like the AI were stuck together like magnets, all three would then break apart when in the braking zone. I hope the devs are working on a solution for this leaning and the slow corner speeds taken by the AI - I'm finding myself backing off when in the lead because I want to be in a close tight battle to the finish.

If you can't fix it, then give us a GPx Patch (Grand Prix 4) way of keeping the races close by offering us the ability to change AI grip and BHP levels.
 
i am not god in Eng, sorry... A think not the AI driver are so hard as you say. Driv like racer driver!, and you win you se. This IS the best racing game on konsoll!!! Get AI HARDER! 👍
