Hijacking an old thread because for some reason I'm having a lot of trouble posting pictures. I've mainly used https://postimages.org/ and https://imgbb.com/ for a while now, but recently almost every time they come up as the "picture not found" style red cross in front of a blue rectangle. Like this.

picture removed as it began to work, see EDIT II

That's a real picture instead of a "this is how the problem looks", and it opens properly when the url is pasted into an incognito browser window so it exists on the server. But for some reason GTPlanet apparently fails to fetch it from there.

EDIT - More investigation going on. This post may be good for deletion, wait a bit.

EDIT II - Weird. When previewing the post it shows the not found icon, but after refreshing the page it works. Probably still a problem somewhere, but not an acute one.

If you can share some of the image URLs that are giving you trouble, I can look into it.

Is there a reason you prefer third-party image hosting over just attaching the images directly into your posts?

I guess I'll begin doing that, when the option originally became available it added the thumbnails at the end of the post. They're still there in the preview so it never really occurred to me that they aren't visible in the "end result" anymore. One problem case was https://i.ibb.co/tMJv2xzL/Gran-Turismo-7-20260827212649.png - which works from that link, but originally didn't in the post. It's this same one below.

Yeah, I don't see any issues with that one at the moment. GTP proxies remote images (downloads the image from the third party and saves/serves it from our server), so if the origin server blocks it or has any issues, the image might not load. When you view the image inside the post composition box, you're still seeing the version loaded directly from the origin server, so it might look like it's going to work but it's not. (The image isn't proxied until the post is saved.)

Yeah, those extra thumbnails are only shown at the bottom of the post if the image itself is not inserted into the message. Give it a try, maybe it can save you an extra step. 👍

There's certainly something odd in the proxying process. When I open the picture for copying the url after uploading it on the host site, it's naturally loaded directly from there - and it works. Then when I put the url in the post and hit preview, it should still be loaded from the site as it hasn't been saved yet - but it doesn't work. But then I hit F5, without even leaving the preview, something must have happened - because it works. And it'll work after that no matter what I do to the post.
