As the title says im having trouble with this track in the American Championship.

I had a Ford GT which served me in a different race so i tuned it up to 860bhp this seems to be more than the other opponents in the class. Despite this i cant seem to get better than 4th, i seem to loose time and places braking on the corners which if i run a little faster i under steer and end up in the barrier loosing more time.

Im sure the car is fine despite not being a race car as i easily won the event at Laguna Seca against the same competition.

Has anyone any tips or ideas for set up that may help me?

Buy a ford or chevy nascar and you'll win easily, just don't forget to add a bit more downforce before racing, and put medium or soft race tyres.
43 front 41 rear for the wings and gears top speed of 390 or 400 and easy win in indy. If not, you still have plenty of other choices, one of them being a race modded corvette ZR-1, which apparently is very popular for this particular event.

Get all Gold on the Nascar Special events and you'll get a Nascar, use that and you'll win.:sly:

This is not connected to the Ford GT but I hope it helps you:

For this certain race I used a Ford NASCAR. It might be a little bit slower then some of the cars the AI is driving but you can get past them. Just remember to draft a lot, and when you hit the corners switch down to 3rd gear and hug that inside line.

I use the ZR 1 with racing mods (the same car I used for this race in Like The Wind) and get gold everytime. It's a good little earner, 98k credits for three and a half minutes work.

You can also do this, but it costs quite a few credits, of course afterwards it's pretty easy to get them back.:sly:

Thanks for the replies, i have an indy car from a previous race so i may try this with the settings you suggest, i was trying to avoid buying any more cars until the Formula GT came up.

Hahaha, thanks guys, i just breezed it, how long have i wasted with the Ford GT, i should have made this post yesterday!

Congrats 👍

If you're saving up for the Formula GT then you're gonna get pretty used to this race. I've worked it out at just over 4 hours non stop to grind enough cash, what a way to spend on Monday night :(

Strange the GT can't do it. Are you using racing soft tires? I know with the zr1 I'm ahead of everybody after the first turn and I never have to touch the brake the whole race. Just keep it floored and turn. Up to 6 million waiting for the darn Formula GT car to show up

Yep thats what I did, good money spinner too.

haha thats what i figure, i was watching a film last night and in each advert break i did a 5 lap "like the wind" at least now i can earn 28k more each time.

yeh im surprised too which is why i asked about the set up as each corner i hit i had to break just to keep it on the track!!! Acceleration was fine and i could hit the front easily but the problem lay with keeping it there.

I went with the Cadillac Cien with Racing Soft tires. On Laguna it's got no chance, but on Indy it can hold its own and can take first without too much trouble. And you win it, so there's no real money lost.

Good luck using this strategy.

I used that strategy, but I got the worst luck ever. I won a 2nd cup car and it was.... a Toyota, which is extremely useless because my first one is the car with the chassis/engine gift repair and is more powerful anyways.

Spend the money on the RM ZR1. It will pay for itself. It's an easy 3min 40 sec for 98k and some extra points for leveling up around the American Championship Indy track. No hitting breaks no struggles. I keep seeing posts of people struggling to win this race in other cars. Break down and get the ZR1. Absolutely NO struggle. I do it one handed. I leterally feel asleep for a second yesterday while doing it and still won!! If you you are doing this track for the challenge, yea use a different car, if you are doing it for cash and XP then get the vette.

BTW the RM ZR1 is faster than the NASCAR around the track so its better for quick cash. And it's fun to use online against people that think because the Bugatti has a high top speed and quick acceleration that no vette can beat them. Yea they get pretty far ahead but I always pass by them at the first turn when they are trying to get back on the road again.

The Ford GT will do it with a little less HP. I fixed the suspension, and won fairly easily. Don't think of the track as 4 corners. Drive it like two long U-shaped turns.

I suggest using a Nascar or a RM 'Vette... :)

The Ford GT won't win in this one simply because it can't take those corners at full speed like the race cars you are facing...:dunce: You'll have to figure out a suspension tune to make it happen with the GT... 👍
