Truck Suggestions

I used the Dodge. I installed a supercharger instead of full NA tune, you don't need it. Racing suspension helped a lot. but it still eats tires.

I used the Tacoma X-Runner. It's the cheapest one you can buy, and it's also the lightest truck, by a big margin. With a few mods it should be a breeze.

I used the Lightning, modded it to the fullest extent ~671 HP I believe. I have to lower the final gear ratio considerably to get it to go over 140 though. I won pretty handily with that :).

The best value for money is the Chevy SS you win, it costs you time and whatever you spent on your last truck, but it's by far the best truck in the game tuned.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you win that truck by completing the truck series? So, you would still need a truck to start? I can't remember exactly, I think that's what I got though. Anyways, Lightning still gets my vote.

I'm just curious what truck people would recommend for the truck series.
I used the bone stock lightning.(piece a cake)
On one of the threads on here someone claimed you could use the modded Dodge truck for high A spec points on many of the races, but I havn't tried it or
the other trucks yet.

I used a Lightning. I think it's the most fun truck to drive. A red one with red/black rims looks HOT! I got a great picture jumping it on the Seattle track..I would post it but I am to retarded to figure out pictue posting.... :yuck:

Lightning is the best, lots of power and pretty light. Now that I am done with the trucks race I am stuck with 2 trucks, though. The SS is fast for a truck, but not against cars it isn't.

Nope your not wrong, which is why I said the Chevy SS costts time and whatever you spent on your other truck. But it's the best value for money truck, ie compared to the others it's well worth it.

Same. With only 2 engine mods, new transmission, flywheel, etc. plus the weight reductions it was easy, just drift around corners and breeze past the competition.

I used the X-Runner as well. Pretty cool little truck. You can check out photos of mine by clicking the link in my sig to my gallery.

So, in closing, obviously the best truck is either the F-150, the Ram, the Silverado or the X-Runner. Hope that cleared this up for ya...

(P.S. - I cast my vote for the F-150)

I bought the Dodge Ram and made the following mods:

Weight Reduction 1 & 2
Racing Chip
Nitrous
Supercharger
Racing Tranny/Clutch/Flywheel
Carbon Driveshaft
Fully Customisable Suspension

Oh and I bought some custom rims.

I breezed through the truck races (Despite getting 196 A-Spec pts. for each race...Bizarre) and easily beat the Stars and Stripes Challenge too. (getting 200 A-Spec pts. for each of those races)

I started with the Tacoma and did the series. I then learned about the A-spec point ability and did the series again with that fully modded but with a Supercharger. Varying the engine tuning I re-did some of the series and completed Special Condition on Easy with it to score loads of (useless) A-spec points.

So you want to be a GT superstar in a truck? Here's how you go...

Someone mentioned the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner. I'm inclined to call that truck more of a sports car than a sports truck. I mean, look at it. It has the hood scoop, aggressive styling, and it just really means business on track. It may not be the SRT-10 Ram or the SVT Lightning, but it's pretty sporty. I think the best truck I've raced with in my little "play test" of GT4 was maybe the Tacoma. You don't get to know a lot about the machines unless you work with them in Gran Turismo mode. I played Arcade all the way at the EB store I was in. So I don't really know what almost any car was like until tuned to perfection or near perfection. But for now, I'll probably say the Tacoma X-Runner. It just means business in terms of looks. If the Ram doesn't mean business, then this Japanese truck will clean up.

Based on the majority of posts I've read here, it's come down to Lightning and the Tacoma. How do you choose? What's the better buy for tuning and racing? Carry on.

I used the Ram. The only mod was a supercharger, just to make sure I could catch up to the leader. Blew right through the series.

Ok. So its down to the Lightning and the Tacoma, but here's my question.
Have you guys forgotten about the Chevy SSR? It qualifies for the sport truck race and its fairly light. Its a Corvette with a truck body, seriously. All the underpinnings for the SSR mainly the engine and chassis components are Corvette parts. My choice would be the SSR unless PD totally screwed it up in GT4

I used the Ford Lightning and kept it stock. Breezed through the competition.

The SSR is NOT at Corvette with a truck body. The engine is very different:
SSR: 5.3L LM4 V8 with 300hp and 335lb/ft of torque
Corvette: 6.0L LS2 V8 with 400hp and 400lb/ft of torque

Just had to clear that up.

edit:

Oh yeah and the chassis are different as well. The SSR is loosely based off of the Corvette, but it is NOT at Corvette with a truck bed.
