Trying to get headset to work with speaker system

I can get the sound to come through the speakers on the headset by plugging the black cord into the wired speaker remote...but I am baffled as how to get the red mic cord to work!

Help.

Assuming there isn't a microphone-in/out on your speaker system, you'll have to connect the microphone line into your soundcard directly. At least, that's how I've always used my headset. I hope that helped.
