Not a repost as far as I'm aware (the vid has only gone up recently) - great Japanese vid of a a Mitsubishi FTO GPX up against a Toyota Levin GT-Z, Honda Integra Si, Nissan 180SX, Toyota MR2, BMW M3 and a Toyota Supra.

Interesting mix of cars, if unusual choices for some of them. Using the Honda Integra Si instead of the R seems unfair on the car, and picking the M3 seems unfair on any of them given its power advantage! The FTO certainly seems to have pace though, it leaves the Supra down the straights.

Feel free to discuss the vid and any of the cars in it here 👍

I've had a look for the specs on this site, and the Si has the same engine as the R (but less powerful than the Japanese version at 180bhp, though the same power as the version imported to the UK), weighs 40kg more, and wears smaller 15" wheels.

It's not the same engine, the Type-R has either a B18C5 or B18C-R, depending on the year, whereas the Si has a B18C1. The website isn't totally accurate. The "Si", which should actually be called SiR-G, and is pretty much identical to the USDM GS-R, except, obviously, for the steering wheel position.

The MR2 is not turbo, either, judging by its performance...

And even more likely a downgraded SZ-R... Even when it has 220 hp, surely it cannot accelerate that much slower than an FTO?...

Surely it can. The FTO makes about 180-200hp and weighs about 5-600lbs less. The Supra would need 250+ hp simply to keep up.

Sounds kinda pointless to me. I don't think 88lbs and 20hp would make that big of a difference.

It would when none of the cars were that powerful anyway. If the Integra has 180bhp and the FTO has 200bhp, it's pretty clear to see the performance difference. More interesting is how much quicker the Levin is to the Integra, given that as far as I'm aware, the BZR has a 10bhp defecit to the Integra.

The FTO is pretty light and it's probably significantly shorter geared too.

I stand corrected. My knowledge of Integras is pretty limited beyond the UK market Type Rs.
