Yes I personally think each class will need maybe a minimum 4 cars to make the racing challenging and rewarding, but obviously the more people we can get the better.

I believe striker mentioned in the last pre-season race about closing those classes that have enough competition and asking new people to join the other classes so hopefully you will get the close competition you seek soon.

I'm hoping that he close (subjunctive tense) the registration for GT1, temporarily, at least, before next week's PSR. I don't want to race against my teammate, and have him disconnect on like lap 3 again... No fun in that...
 
I think combining GT1 and GT2 into a class between the two in terms of speed, and then leave GT3 as is and then run those two classes. The RX7 TC/LM is almost on pace of the GT1's in qualifying, so if you just slow them down a little bit they'll be basically equal. I donno, just a suggestion.

Maybe until we have a lot more drivers to fill out each class and provide a competitive endurance race, the series should become just a two class event?
GT1 & GT3, then later when the driver roster for those two classes is well attended another class could be added either GT2 or GT4, and again when there are enough to fill that class the remaining class could be added.

Im sure a huge amount of time and effort has been put into testing the cars and assigning which class they should run in. So maybe instead of re-adjusting the speed of the cars people in GT2 & GT4 would just be asked to choose a car from either GT1 or GT3.

All the hard work of testing the cars has allready been done by striker so really adding classes later would be very simple. And adjusting the classes for closer racing between classes much harder.

NO!!!!! Combining classes is the worst idea. We should leave the classes as they are, and just say "GT1 filled. Sign up for GT3 and GT4 now!"
 
Theres a lot of cars people don't run. GT1 seems to be GTR TC's only, and I ran the Stealth SGT GTR once. I don't run every time though so I could be wrong.

I agree combining classes would be bad thats why i say maybe just limiting the series to just a couple of classes may be better until there is enough interest to justify racing 4 separate GT classes.

Also as someone mentioned slowing the GT1 cars down to somehow combine GT1 & GT2, the reason that wouldn't work is many of us GT1 drivers are running the R35 TC which is stock and therefore there wouldn't be anything that could slow the car, and i believe thats the same for most of the GT1 cars.

So i guess the GT1 class will be closed to new entrants or maybe the classes get limited to just a couple for this season, or i suspect people will need to get used to having just one or two cars in some classes to compete against for awhile at least.
 
All you have to do is limit the HP or add ballast to it. The main reason it's bad fast is it's 4wd.
 
Would it not be hard to adjust the BHP or weight without re testing the entire GT1 class as the amount for each car would vary?

Then you would need to just trust everyone has made the adjustments, or limit the room settings to a particular BHP and weight setting, which would likely slow some GT1 cars too much and others too little.
And if it was a room setting then every car would have to comply with the weight and BHP settings no matter what class they are in.

I know i said it before but i think people need to either get used to having races against just a couple cars in their GT class until more drivers join or choose to race in a different class that has more competitors.

And i still dont really understand the idea of homologating GT1 & GT2 together when you could just change to a GT1 car if you want to run GT1 pace, that seems so much easier to me.

Striker i will try to decide what car to run before the next PSR, will likely stay with a premium GT1 as i want cockpit view when racing.

Just want to run some more test laps in the Ford GT to assess tyre wear before making my final decision.

Shame the R34 TC was so slow, i agree it probably needs to drop down to GT2.

Really trying to resist the lure of the R35 TC as a few of us were running them the other day, but despite its not being able to do the fastest times of some other GT1's over a single lap the tyre wear is really good.

Joining GT1 with GT2 is out due to the performance aspect of the cars. 90% of the cars that are in GT2 wouldn't be able to compete with any of the GT1 cars even if they were only tuned. Plus this is not in the WGTC format. True there aren't a lot of people in the lower classes but once people start getting in the lower class cars and follow the specs they'll see how truly fast they can be. I found in some cases the GT2 and GT3 cars get around certain parts of the track rather than GT1. All the cars are fast with in their classes some are faster than other in the right hands. I'm not telling you which cars are and what track they perform best on.
 
I would be open to going from gt2 to gt1 or gt3. I just wanna drive.

Also want to say something about the starts. The one lap cruise just isn't working. Start normal.

In what respect aren't they working, do you mean crashes?

Whichever way the race starts be it rolling or grid start the first corner will see a bunch of cars closely packed together braking and just as in real life people try to make up a few places.

I think people just forget when you have a bunch of cars in front of you, braking in the usual place wont work, you need to be more cautious and brake much earlier for the first few corners of a race.

Hopefully when we move to the much longer races people will see the first corner of a 2hr race as less significant and be more cautious.
 
I think, that the draft from the class in front, makes the class behind enter with MUCH more speed than normal. And, no one in the lead of a class, wants to slow down and get rear-ended by someone else who brakes late. So, the people in front push their braking points, so the people in the back push their braking points...


My idea, is a staggered-class starting system, so that the GT2s don't get the draft off of the GT1s and so forth.
 
They just need to be worked on..
 
I think this will be a really good series and I appreciate all the hard work that has been done so far, but its great to see your not precious about keeping things the same and your willing to look at different ways of doing things as long as they provide good close racing.
 
I agree with BLADE, in most ways, but, I think the WGTC will turn out, in the way that Striker wants it to turn out.

I have no doubts that Striker's not a mature man, capable of running this series.

Sorry guys that I haven't been active. I've been dealing with a passing in the family as well take care of some matters. I would like to get back to racing and get the season started. Now that I have two days off in a row things will be moving a lot faster.

I still need to work at getting the classes field, as well getting the season started. If it must be everyone will vote on what class that will be ran.
