Ok there it is... I am trying to get better, I watch the videos so I know a car CAN go faster around a corner but just not if it's stock and not if I drive a crap line I to the corner!

So much to learn!!!

Given a choice between tuning the car and learning to drive a good line, personally, I found that driving a good line is a much much better and more reliable way to improve your speed.

Agreed. When racing the AI, if I accidentally hit another car it's usually on a double apex, or two quick corners in a series of turns. I just get the car in the wrong place. And doink. Really trying to race clean, but when I push the speed I loose accuracy of driving line. Who knew it would be fun yet this demanding?

There is two ways of tunning your car.

1. One is to make your car easier to handle, easier to drive for you so you don't have to fight with your car. This does not necessary get along with the speed, but you can take corners easier and always had a good smooth line. Good smooth laps. This way you can feel your car and always have the control over any tuned car. This is the method to tame any car you want.

2. Second way is to make your car faster, kind of harder to handle in corners. You loosing down-force that helps you in corners, you have to brake a little earlier and every corner must be mastered with the racing line your car can handle. In this way you find yourself fighting with tuned car and always unsure if you manage to finish lap or entire race without going off the track. So in this method you must adapt to your car, not the other way around.

In both ways it's a learning process of how far you can go with the tool you have. We all want to drive fast and make our laps better so every time you tune your car you must choose if you want to have total control and very easy work on race track of maybe you want to fight a little harder to gain some time.

For me personally its all about suspension. Get the car to handle as smooth as possible and speed will come later. After you get the car to point where you want it you can slowly adjust less handling and more speed into, they don't always go together. Personally I will sacrifice speed for handling and grip which is hard to come by in this game but still possible. With good handling you can do 2 or 3 smooth and somewhat consistant laps giving you a good overall time. On the edge speed may cause you to miss a corner, go off track or hit AI. You may get a really good lap but not so good overall time for the event. Take your favorite car to a comfortable track like Alpental, Dakota national or Silverstone National and play with the settings until you know what they do and you get the car where you like. You will also know how to adjust for the other tracks. :)
